Round 2 vs. Sando has been played, thanks for coming out y'all!
Sando's zomBo's take the game with 2-1.
Duels is silly, I got to be on the play during all three games yet again. But..
In round 1, despite me getting in a punch or two, Sando had the right amount of early removal to effectively shut down my attacks, enabling him to build up a board presence of his own.
While probably not drawing my best firecrackers, running (only) 21 lands and all, a
Liliana's Mastery sealed the deal in Sando's favor.
1-0.
After several connection failures, including having to forfeit a hand that I would have definitely enjoyed playing, we finally managed to connect for game 2.
Watching back this game, I feel like I mulliganed a hand I otherwise would have (and probably should have) kept.
Remembering how Bomat kept exiling the lands I so badly needed in round 1 of this tournament, however, I didn't want to take the risk this time.
Still, I managed to draw some of my zappy stuff here, right in time to get rid of Sando's
Wayward Servants.
Throw in a couple of solid attackers on my end, as well as an Anguished Unmaking from Sando that I didn't mind, and it's a tie.
1-1.
In the 3rd game, I figured I might outrace Sando with
Kari Zev, Skyship Raider (a.k.a. Karl, who tragically lost a monkey by the way), as long as Sando doesn't drop a Fatal Push on her right away.
Just when I was about to find out, Sando decided that poor Karl had suffered enough as it is. Plan A out the door.
Despite having started with a decent hand, I ended up in topdeck mode and by the time Sando did the same, his board presence had grown beyond my control. Final score:
2-1 for Sando.
