Scrapheap?? Gideon??

Looks fun

If we were playing these decks against each other, those Dec in Stone would be huge

I still have never played PriZed anagram in a dedicated zombie build, can't wait to try that

yeah, it's pretty fun, but I think too similar to Elk's deck. Maybe not. Gideon is excellent tech for this deck, btw... It's another anthem or a win con all on it's own. Scrounger is not ideal, but it's always a good card in aggro, same for copter.

Anyway, @Giocher, when is the deadline for this? I have another deck I want to test before I decide which to submit?

Also, can you update the first post of this thread (or some thread) with the exact rules, deadlines etc... I can never find the information when I'm looking for it.

The deadline is 4 June. Also i always update the first post, there is a link to the rules, deadline and anything else for every round.

I'm stupid, sorry. :-/

Anyway... update: Prized Amalgam and Embalm do not synergize. That sucks.

Yup, since they decided to return tokens instead of the actual cards.

It's not even that... it's that embalm is not a cast effect. :-/

I just can't ever seem to find a good home for amalgam... I have no idea how it's seen some standard play, it just seems bad to me.

Prized Amalgam says "Whenever a creature enters the battlefield, if it entered from your graveyard or you cast it from your graveyard, return Prized Amalgam from your graveyard to the battlefield tapped at the beginning of the next end step."

It doesn't require the spell to be cast from the graveyard. Thus it works with Dread Wanderer amongst others, even if they're not actually cast. So it would work if embalm either was a cast effect from the graveyard, or if embalm returned the actual creature.

Yeah, so I guess either way... I was thinking about the cast side with my post, and assuming the token part was fixed... sorry for the confusion.

Spoiler

@ DJ - I assume by 'boring' you mean the obvious competitive version? ;)

I've tested and run all the differences you've listed in previous versions. Gideon is Gideon. It's a super card and wins on it's own but I was typically using it for the anthem in most cases. It also didn't 'feel' right in the deck because it didn't match the theme and it also required a bit more :w: mana to have a chance as a T4 play (which I really didn't like). Declaration in Stone was in my list for quite some time too since it was great in the mirror. I just found that I was drawing too much removal in certain games and didn't want to be playing the control position (if I could help it) so decided to cut it over something like Fatal Push and Dark Salvation (I do miss the extra exile option though. If Salvation wasn't so strong due to the theme, it's probably what I'd cut for Dec Stone). Smuggler's Copter is another strong card that I had for a while. I was fine pitching stuff to the grave in this sort of deck but ended up steering towards what was being played in standard with creature counts. A lot of standard decks are running 4x Dread Wanderer and 4x Cryptbreaker. Since we can't, I used Festering Mummy to get the same 1 drop count and Copter became one of those cuts. In fact I tried to mirror a lot of the standard variations as best I could based on our restrictions and then filled in the gaps with theme based cards. I would have probably run mono-black if it weren't for the fact that we have terrible options in :b: and :c: at the 2 drop slot (if only we could run Metallic Mimic and Relentless Dead). It would be nice though to have a simpler mana base with access to Westvale Abbey and cards like Grasp of Darkness. Still, like I mentioned previously, I think the :w: option has a better chance against the mirror (and in Duels, :w: has the best 2 drop zombie options available).

there's no way to compare duels with standard zombies. we can't even try to approach the idea. if we don't have good 1 drop zombies or 2 drop zombies, the idea has to shift a bit, rather than trying to use subpar replacement to make up for the missing slots. the power level for Festering Mummy is so low that it's almost negligible. Fact is we don't have playset of cryptbreaker, playset of diregraf, thinking Festering mummy > smugglers copter in this context might be wrong.

First, it's not meant to be a comparison. Building aggro should follow a similar formula though. They have 8x 1 drops and of course we can't copy their choices so we have to make some exceptions. Second, I've been actually surprised at Festering Mummy and how well it's worked in the shell (I'm never am a fan of 1/1's for 1 mana but it DOES work here). Third, while Festering Mummy isn't as optimal a choice as Standard has, the rest of my choices shouldn't fall in to a 'subpar' selection. Some are theme based but most are solid.

Lets just say before you open your mouth, try the deck first. If you can come up with some other creatures that fill the curve for an aggro strategy in a zombie theme, by all means, submit your own deck. I'll be sure to have a good look at it.

Geez, all i said was Festering mummy > smugglers copter in duels context might be wrong, and elk asks me to shut my mouth. Seriously... I bet more than myself think copters are better and they ARE better. So you want everything you say to be official and true. Sure. you are the boss. Good deck and salute.

oh, Giocher feel free to remove my deck from this round. I don't want to compete with elk the truth of zombie master who owns the "obviously competitive version".

My bad. The wording was poor and harsh which it shouldn't have been. Venting at you when I shouldn't have. My apologies for being a d***.
