Whenever I think of Serra, for whatever reason, the thing that comes to mind is that moment in Planeswalker when she chastises Urza and Xantcha because they're speaking in an amalgam of languages too fast for her to follow.

Which is weird, because in general I want all Magic stories to stay away from the topic of languages. But still, that's what I think of when I think of Serra.

It's a charmingly human moment on a lot of fronts.

Angels, demons and dragons are some of the most iconic creatures in magic so I could possibly see those being 3 of the decks. Five colors dragon though, that's pretty incredible. I think they want us to use all the elder dragons plus the planar shifted dragons.

I don't want Serra to look like a giant pair of feet either :D

I might actually take feet over that hideous hood and god awful sleeve combo.

-waits for angel tribal deck with Serra Planeswalker-

Those leaks got me shooketh as most, even me, have sort of conceded that in this Commander installment will not go to either one of Magic's iconic big critters because of ICONIC MASTERS... then these apparent leaks showing of a totally DRAGON dedicated Commander deck?

Now the only thing making me wonder is if this commander is going to have Walker Commanders... because they must sort of fit in with the tribes that these decks will have. For Angels, Serra will probably be on a lock if ever... but for the others, who will it be? Sarkhan for possible walker on DRAGON? :/

Given that they seem to be breaking established patterns with their decks this time around and probably just decided to go crazy, I don't think each deck needs to have a PW commander for a hypothetical angel deck to get one. If they do an angel deck indeed, at least if it's mono-white, they were probably aware that people would riot if it doesn't come with a Serra commander. On the other hand, there'd also be cool angel legends for a multicoloured deck. Feather, Innistrad's fourth angel sister, Asha, a new Gabriel Angelfire...

@ Tevish: Wait, which of them counts as pre-rev? But yeah, if this doesn't scream Ethan, I don't know what does (I'm not even sure if he was on the design team, but let's be real).

It shouldn't really come as a surprise that there would be a Dragon deck in there when it's featuring "the most popular races", and each set has at least a token dragon. Pretty sure we're not getting Demons, they don't have nearly the same appeal. Angels are a possibility however.

The only other creature type I'm confident about is Zombies, although I'm uncertain about color. I would personally also really like to see Sultai Eldrazi, but there's likely too much color overlap with zombies, as they are almost certainly UBx, and I don't want any other color variation of eldrazi.
edhrec has their top 10 tribes as Zombies, Goblins, Elves, Dragons, Slivers, Vampires, Wizards, Humans, Allies and Eldrazi, although some of that is probably influenced by commander options.

Just saying, I think we'd all kill to see a wizard tribal deck with Jodah finally showing up.

As to planeswalkers, I'll remind that Daretti made an appearance last year as the only walker. Garruk, similarly, was the only walker featured in the original commander run.

Regardless, I think if we do see a walker, I'm not expecting to see the commander rules line on it. For one, that might drive the price even harder and further limit how many hands it could reach.

True, but I was just hypothesizing if ever, with walker or not.

And that part! The possibility of those angel legends you said out of dated lore (or in the case of the 4th Innistradi Angel Sister, wasn't given space) after seeing Ramos and Wasitora in the possible DRAGON Tribal CMD Deck. I'm preparing my anti-palpitation pills already just in case.

That has crossed my mind as well, I'm just not sure if wizard tribal is the route I'd want Jodah's card to go (although it would be a legit way of doing it flavour-wise). I was thinking Jodah being the new Captain Sisay and tutoring for legends and planeswalkers would be cool, because one of his defining traits is that he has met all those important historical figures and knows how to handle planeswalkers. But I could see wizard tribal turning out fine, too. I'd wade neck deep in blood to finally get a Jodah card either way, he's my favourite Magic character ever. My only condition is that he has to have :u: and :w: in him but no :b:.

Those were just reprints, though, not newly designed commander 'walkers. And I really hope they don't repeat the mistake of not printing enough they made with C16. Seriously, it was out of print after five weeks or so.

Really? I rather liked that Serra design.

Though I will admit that the chest-plate needs some serious updating to look less like form-fitting boob armor.

The thing is, if he's not the Eminence legend his mechanical tie to Wizard tribal could be tenuous at best: Of the five new dragon-deck legends, Ramos and O-Kagachi aren't tribal beyond "They have dragon on their typeline" and the word "dragon" is basically trinket text on Taigam, whose main purpose as a commander is uncounterable rebound everything. Even Wasitora isn't a traditional "Lord" who needs to be played with other dragons to work right. Even the most tribal of the lot, Ur Dragon, generously lets you cheat out nondragon permanents as effectively as more dragons, so while unlike the others he's clearly best in "the dragon deck" he's not all dragons, all the time.

I think Wizards may have realized that straight up tribal lords aren't very interesting, especially for Commander.

EDIT: And I'd be kind of comfortable with Jodah being the Wizard Eminence legend. He did kind of run a wizard school for a longer tenure even than Barrin.

Sounds reasonable. And my main concern with Jodah being a Wizard tribal commander is exactly that I don't want him to get a super narrow card that's pretty useless in any other deck, but seeing how they tackled the other legends, they'll probably come up with something cool if Jodah Wizard tribal should turn out to be a thing. I'd even be fine with him having Eminence if the other abilities are more versatile. The more I think about it, a Wizard tribal deck would give them a ton of opportunities to include more old characters.

Today I purchased and blazed through Suicide Squad Volume 6: The Phoenix Gambit. Ostrander and Yale's work over the course of six volumes, when compared to six volumes of New 52 Squad, highlights what a **** the New 52 was.

Serra is hideous there.
But that's partly because Homelands is a haaaard act to follow to start with.
Though it would be bad even on its own.

Also, I don't mind boob armor. Sometimes I feel like the only person still alive with that opinion.

Considering that the vaunted roman legions went into battle with sculpted abs-and-pecs armor, and that when discussing the subject the women I know have all vociferously indicated that no they will not ever lie flat and do require a little more space in the upper torso area?

I've always assumed that some version of boob armor will develop along with an alternate military history that features integrated armed forces.

As long as it looks more practical than sexual.

It doesn't really matter in Serra's case anyway. It's clearly supposed to be for style only, and she didn't have a 'real' physical body anyway. Oldwalkers have been shown with more impractical or overstyled costumes than that, like Freyalise's weird peanut-shaped helmet or Geyadrone Dihada's cape.

I agree that Rebecca Guay's Serra is the best, though.

So ive had a few things at the top of my list for what I want from Steven Universe.

See how lion was created
Get new fusions between the gems
To see white or pink diamond
Maybe some other stuff I forgot

Well today we got one or more of these. I am ecstatic.
