I'm sad.
Sad about O-Kagachi.

It could have been a lot worse, at least the O-Kagachi was clearly designed as the O-Kagachi, even if poorly. It does O-Kagachi-ish things like exact vicious vengeance for slights against it.

It just isn't the all-powerful god-monster that Final Judgment would suggest. I guess it kind of makes sense that O-Kagachi missing That Which Was Taken (which was the core of its divinity after all) might not be as awesome as we all expected.

I am angry; angry about Wasitora looking nothing like I imagined.

I am happy; happy about Ramos kicking ass.

My problem with big O isn't really even that the card doesn't live up to his own hype (although it is partially that), it is mostly that he has no appeal. He doesn't offer anything as a commander, outside of his name.

I largely agree, but he'll play at least in my group on intimidation factor. People already don't like attacking into Michiko Konda, Truth Seeker when they can choose what bites it. Nobody is going to want to draw O-Kagachi's ire and watch me exile whatever matters most to them. (The goal: Meanwhile, I'll be getting Hondens on-line and working on casting some overspliced monstrosities with The Unspeakable). In a world where people played Ideally you'd be right but in practice I feel like his bark is worse than his bite but that's still going to scare people into giving me breathing room.

He's kind of imposing if you can give him haste, for instant retribution. But I think like 3 out of my 4 decks don't really care, they can either kill your general, kill you, or not really bother to attack.

Yeah he really could have used some manner of haste or durability. Heck, Flash would have been kind of cool

That's... did they just... omg, I don't care how much more pathetic the main storyline is going to get if they keep making Commander decks like this. O-Kagachi makes me really sad as well, but the others are great. Wasitora is clearly missing double strike and regeneration, and her body looks a bit plump (then again, she must be pregnant), but I guess there's only so much that can go on a card. She's basically demanding tribute and making the most adowable kitties in de world just like she does in the books, and she's exactly the colours she should be. I've been waiting to see her on a card for ages! Oh, and that flavour text is awesome. And I normally don't give a flying fart about Taigam, but that card really nails him. Ramos and the Ur-Dragon are just killing it. In the best way possible. God, I just bought the Breya deck and finished building Silas/Reyhan, but damn do I want that dragon deck right now.

Shouldn't O-Kagachi be a hydra?

On one hand he's an eight-headed serpent sort of being. On the other hand I'm not sure there's a precedent for sapient hydras, spirit hydras, or kamigawan hydras while there is precedent for serpentine dragons, Kamigawa dragon-spirits, and multi-headed dragons.

Fair enough.

Man, I'm dying to know what the other tribes are and if they come with cards for old characters, too. Maybe elves with Belbe? A pre-undead version of Jarad perhaps? Undead Savra? Maybe they'll go and have Mycil Savod-Zunich as a main commander? Which would also leave room for Fonn Zunich... So many possibilities. And I already have a vampire EDH deck, but what if there's a vamp deck with a new card for Baron Sengir or that Edgar Markov I've been waiting for since forever? Maybe they'll go and have, say, Runo Stromkirk as a commander? Or how about a human deck with Halana and Alena? I want official spoilers to start yesterday!

I think what might be most interesting is that All the spoiled commanders are old lore references. Even if we weren't totally pleased with all of them (Because O-Kagachi was underwhelming or because the Ur Dragon got a physical existence, whatever), we got five formerly unprinted lore entities, dating back as far as Pre-Revisionist lore, and no random "Who is that and why should I care?" cases like we have in most previous years.

I think we can probably thank Ethan for that? It deserves thanks and I believe he was responsible for the also thank-worthy Feldon.

I'm actually not in line for Serra, and I'll tell you why:
They'll probably use that hideous character concept smeared all over cards like Worship instead of the gorgeous design of serra's blessing. (not to mention I'll accept nobody but Rebecca Guay doing the art in the first place)

Whenever I think of Serra, for whatever reason, the thing that comes to mind is that moment in Planeswalker when she chastises Urza and Xantcha because they're speaking in an amalgam of languages too fast for her to follow.

Which is weird, because in general I want all Magic stories to stay away from the topic of languages. But still, that's what I think of when I think of Serra.
