There have been a bunch of threads about Orzhov tokens, but none of them went the same way I decided to go. Some focused on Oketra, some went with Bontu and a Crats-strategy, some went with Tribal (Zombies, Cats).

What I was missing was a mid-range, good-stuff approach; and that is what I hope this deck to be.

Creatures (11)
2 x Selfless Spirit
2 x Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim
1 x Bontu the Glorified
1 x Liliana, Heretical Healer
3 x Weaponcraft Enthusiast
1 x Oketra the True
1 x Angel of Invention

Planeswalkers (3)
1 x Liliana, the Last Hope
1 x Gideon, Ally of Zendikar
1 x Liliana, Death's Majesty

Enchantments (3)
3 x Hidden Stockpile

Instants and Sorceries (10)
3 x Fatal Push
3 x Blessed Alliance
2 x Anguished Unmaking
2 x Sram's Expertise

Split (7)
2 x Never // Return
3 x Start // Finish
2 x Dusk // Dawn

Lands (26)
4 x Plains
5 x Swamp
2 x Shambling Vent
2 x Isolated Chapel
4 x Forsaken Sannctuary
3 x Aether Hub
4 x Evolving Wilds
2 x Westvale Abbey


A couple of explainations:
-The creature base is chosen to work well with Dusk // Dawn. None of the creatures gets swept without a +1/+1 buff, and all of them except the Gods return from the graveyard.
-Similarly, the Walkers are chosen for synergy with the theme. The list is extremely tight for space and already mana-hungry, which is why I omitted Obi and Sorin.
-Blessed Alliance seems counter-intuitive, but I wanted the answers to t2 Copter on the draw without having to go out of my way for Grasp of Darkness. I also like how the card can untap two creatures to ambush-block. Maybe Grasp is fine in that slot, though.
-One of the fun things in this deck is that it works incredibly well with all 7 of the split cards available to the colour combination; that's one of the reasons why the list is mana-hungry.
-Hence 26 lands. The manabase pulls all the stops to include 19B, 18W and 2 Westvale Abbeys. (Strictly speaking it has 20B and 19W, but that counts Aether Hub as a full source, and I like to have extra insurance seeing how the thresholds have to be hit not by one, but by many cards).

How have you been liking Start // Finish? I was pretty low on that card during spoiler season, but the fact that it's front side is an instant makes it seem maybe better than I was initially thinking.

Stockpile + Procession is crazy. Surprised you're not running any APs. They allow me to not bother with Selfless Spirit, since you can rebuild so quickly post sweeper that it doesn't really matter.

I should prob be running Big Lili in place of a Caracal in mine (it's basically a build Haven did IIRC, with some personal preference tweaks), but I went for the cat theme :party:

Personally I've been loving Start // Finish. At worst you get two 1/1s with a keyword (only Vigilance, but hey); at best you get two 1/1s with a keyword, trigger Revolt for one turn and kill the opponent's biggest threat.
Bone Splinters is a card that Crats love in some matchups and hate in others - this is a Bone Splinters that is good in any matchup.

I'm generally wary of adding 4-mana enchantments for a long game; and this deck doesn't really go off with Procession since I'm not running any Embalm or tokens bigger than 2/2 Zombies. It might still be worth it, but it seems really slow.
Selfless Spirit is a card I actively want though. 2-drop, can be sacrificed to trigger stuff (if not to protect the board), can be recurred in multiple ways. I'd cut Ayli before Spirit.

You don't have to be locked into Orzhov colors because some random guy won a tournament in those colors. Theres also Boros.

Any Boros token list that doesn't run Hanweir Garisson and the new R/W 3/2 +1/0 gal is likely just doing it totally wrong.

Is that 18 with Valor in Akros coming in t4, or do the tokens not get the +1/0 buff from the 3/2 ?

I've been pondering a mardu tokens, well...more like splashing red to fling from husks at my enemies...
