I think it would be cool for players like modulo, Vert and me, and the like to give a commentary track to go with this type of content, ideally concurrently.
It's not something that's gonna go viral, but it would be Fun for the 10 + People that frequent these boards, and Care about Control. It could be a series, we build decks, he plays em, and we Muse about his decisions, or where the deck falls flat, and he would be the valiant Scotsman taking one for the team (proven to be a succesful formula ).

What say you ? Could be fun !

So like a diss track?

Pfft, Vert acting like his entire life isn't already one long continuous dis track towards everyone he comes into contact with.

quite frankly even from watching the first 10 minutes, BBB isnt such an obvious target anymore, he plays way better than he used to. It would just be sweet to have some idiots going 'i would've done the other thing because x y z' whilst barney goes 'please please let me die with dignity sweet lord'.

Is...is that a compliment? In this barren wasteland?

Hey, i proposed this idea based on how NOT to mull or play a control deck, hoping some players would get a great deal of enjoyment out of it. (this isn't really me, but i didn't get Vert giving me permission for this particularly arrogant piece of artifice, so I guess we all have to run with it) Just the fact that I deem you worthy for the likes of us to comment on your antics, shouldn't get your hopes up too much, just a north-Umbrian after all...

Vert sensed rising self esteem and broke out the keyboard.

My current list, I tried a 2/2 split between magma spray and impulse for a bit but found spray too narrow with all the 3+ toughness creatures around (great sideboard card though). Only slight issue with the deck is being a bit heavy at the 4 mana spot, perhaps you could shave 1 glimmer but then the hubs/harnessed get worse. As for the mana, I needed to cut 2 needle spires as the number of tapped lands was screwing me over, at the same time i wanted enough red sources because sometimes you want to cast 2 red spells in same turn.

Jeskai Control

Creature(3)
1 x Disciple of the Ring
1 x Archangel Avacyn or Kefnet
1 x Torrential Gearhulk

Instant(22)
3 x Fiery Impulse
2 x Blessed Alliance
3 x Censor
2 x Pull From Tomorrow
1 x Essence Scatter
3 x Harnessed Lightning
2 x Scatter to the Winds
2 x Spell Shrivel
1 x Broken Concentration
3 x Glimmer of Genius

Sorcery(2)
2 x Radiant Flames

Enchantment(3)
3 x Cast Out

Planeswalker(4)
1 x Gideon, Ally of Zendikar
1 x Nahiri, the Harbinger
1 x Jace, Unraveler of Secrets
1 x Chandra, Flamecaller

Land(26)
2 x Prairie Stream
1 x Plains
4 x Island
2 x Wandering Fumarole
4 x Mountain
2 x Clifftop Retreat
2 x Glacial Fortress
2 x Sulfur Falls
4 x Evolving Wilds
3 x Aether Hub

19 Blue Sources
17 Red Sources
14 White Sources

Very interesting list. I personally think Gideon and Avacyn are too much to ask off 14 White, especially since you are not running the second Plains to fetch up.

Regarding Chandra, I didn't want to add another lategame card to reduce the amount of clunkiness in hand. Also the manabase would need to be adapted to accomodate for RR (it is a bit easier to adapt for Chandra than for Gideon though). I might give her a little more thought.

I'm not concerned with gideon for 2 reasons, i ran 14 white in my esper deck last season and it worked out fine and secondly i'm totally fine playing it off curve, usually at 7 mana when i can hold a counter up as well. At the same time i can understand people leaving it out because of mana requirements.

The avacyn though you might be right, running 1 spell is fine but 2 probably a little greedy. Will keep an eye on it to see if its an issue, in which case just swap out for kefnet or cut one of the other basics for a second plains.

As far as chandra, she seems too good not to run as well as acting as a 3rd sweeper if needed, you probably have enough red sources now to put her in if you wanted.

This is my list now, its very short on wincons and pretty much full instant speed since I feel like you dont need as many wincons anymore thanks to the better draw and ansers now. Still need to test kefnet. I only play 1 cast out due to the 4 spot being so crowded (the enchantment vulnerability also proved to be a nasty problem)

Creature(3)
1 x Disciple of the Ring
1 x baby jace
1 x Torrential Gearhulk

Instant(27)
3 x Telling time
4 x Fiery Impulse
1 x Blessed Alliance
3 x Censor
2 x Pull From Tomorrow
3 x Harnessed Lightning
2 x Scatter to the Winds
1 x Broken Concentration
3 x Glimmer of Genius
2 x Confirm suspicions
1 x Kozilek's return
2 x Commit

Enchantment(1)
1 x Cast Out

Sorcery(1)
1 x Radiant Flames

Planeswalker(2)
1 x Nahiri, the Harbinger
1 x Chandra, Flamecaller

Land(26)
2 x Prairie Stream
1 x Plains
5 x Island
2 x Wandering Fumarole
5 x Mountain
2 x Cliftop retreats
2 x Glacial Fortress
2 x Sulfur Falls
2 x evo wilds
3 x Aether Hub

You only have 16 blue sources, no Evolving Wilds and you're running both Scatter and Broken but not Shrivel? Your whole build is blue heavy, which isn't wrong, but you don't have the mana base to support it.

you're right I made a mistake copying the manabase, its 2 evo wilds instead of needle spires

Have you guys tried Enigma Drake? It's working great for me. The deck has become less on counter, though and more on answers.

Played around with it for 20 games or so. Changes made:

-2 Spell Shrivel
-2 Magma Spray

+1 Commit // Memory
+3 Fiery Impulse

As discussed, Commit should be a 1 of. It's rare, but casting Memory off of Hulk EoT is pretty much a won game, especially since it can be discarded to Pull. Commit itself is great for the problems this deck often runs into (PWs, Tutelage). I saw Spell Shrivel far too often when I needed cheap removal, and Spray was far too narrow for the field. Haven't missed either Gideon atm, good build in my eyes.

Commit is miles better than cast out from my experience, and an easy 2 off (I would probably play 4). It does what cast out does (deals with a resolved threat) as also countering it (prevents planeswalker value or ETB for example). After you commit something it will never resolve again if it is relevant, so going back to the library does not matter
