I like the block format much, unfortunately there's only one viable block. I'm curious if some genius can build a competitive deck outside the
KAL/AER block? Sad that AKH stands alone

Would've made more sense to do it this way when Hour of Devastation came out, especially since AKH lacks the hate cards we were hoping for and has all of 1 early removal spell in Magma Spray.

Jea, we should have the possibility to pair the AKH block with any other one, then it would be fair.

There's one genius can build a "competitive" deck with SOI block and that's werewolves!

This block format feels like Sealed to me- When I built the deck, I listed out all the usable removals from those sets, knew immediately which block I should be playing (very easy), then threw in all the removals, filled curve with creatures and vehicles. Done!

I would of prefered it be a single block (+origins and D) chosen for all to use from the outset rather than allowing it to be any block we choose,
it's a pretty clear consensus which block is strongest, they are not balanced in duels.

Vehicles....

The worst thing about this for me is that playing with the new cards means handicapping yourself with a small cardpool. There's very little reason to play Amonkhet cards in the Amonkhet tournament during the opening rounds.

Vehicles is arguably the strongest deck from AER Season and like 75% of it can be easily translated to block constructed. I get that it is going to have manabase issues and will lack some bombs like Gids and Avacyn, but I can't think of another archetype that loses so little.

I like the idea of forcing a different format for variety but this doesn't look like a good way to do it.

Block should be Amonkhet + Origins + D. (Or make Amonkhet available to all the blocks.)

I agree that the proposed block system will not highlight Amonkhet enough.

if somehow those opinions does matter to change the rule then i vote too for amonkhet to be added to all other blocks as well as extra like the origins.No way someone is going to use it since its a block that have to stand alone with origins , unlike the others that there are 2 sets plus origins so more cards.but everyone would like to test the new set in tournament otherwise it will be a contest with the old decks we have seen so far and some sideboards for later.also i cant properly test the decks im building cause the random opponents i play are using every card so not exacly what im gonna face in the tournament especially in the first 2 games.i cant always invite players from steam that are in tournament to play with the same conditions so the tests are a little confusing now.anyway no matter what ill be join that one too , that was my thoughts for more fun.keep up the good work kryder

Due to some concerns with confusion amongst your ranks, Real-Life concerns, and other factors beyond control, the tournament has been reorganized.

The following changes are in effect:

Rounds 1 - 2 Block has been cancelled. The swiss rounds are all standard duels deckbuilding, no restrictions as in previous tournaments. Top-8 still has sideboards available.

Changes were made to the Tournament Timelines section and Tournament Rules section, rules 1 and 2. Please peruse at your earliest convenience.

Oh, well then. Not sure I'm for this one, to be honest I only just realised how soon decks have to be in and it's not enough to get all the cards or get a grasp of what to play for me.
Dunno if time is cut shorter than previous or not but with no blocks to also fill that time and the connectivity I don't see how I'm gonna choose a deck in time.

Good points...we have a week of play time built in, so I've used it to give everyone time to make the best deck/sideboards they can for the tournament. Timeline has been updated, everything is starting one-week later.

A pity though, because I've suddenly realized that my Grixis Thopters deck from two Showdowns ago was perfect for the first two rounds.
