I thought it was going to be good: at first testing, I think I underestimated the card a fair bit (better than just good, in other words). It's excellent.

Anyone else give it a shot in a serious deck yet?

I plan on messing with it in a Golgari -1/-1 shell, but sadly the game hasn't given me a single one of them yet. :(

Yeah, that's a nice home for the card, but so is any deck that just removal at all. Hitting an opponent with UD (or any non-exile creature killer on any turn) and putting a bone Picker into play on t4 is just brutal.

I thought Bone Pickers ability was basically Revolt. I must be wrong. Is it more like Surge?

Obviously not all my ratings were spot-on, but I don't regret a 4.0 on Bone Picker. If you're playing B, you're killing dudes. If you're killing dudes, BP is great. Ideal in a deck with Fatal Push and Shock where you should be able to kill any one/two drop the opponent plays and drop the T2 Picker. I bet you could even T1 Walking Ballista for 0 and then play it, but I wouldn't want to risk getting blown out like that.

I works when you kill an opponent's creature too, so it feels more like surge (albeit a bit less versatile). It just ends up being a very efficient conditional 1 drop, with an extremely easy condition to meet. Highly recommended to the builders on the site. It combos with killing opponent creatures, and it's not even bad against control decks that don't run creatures, because then you don't care too much about playing it for 4 - since your removal is dead anyway, it's just as efficient in terms of mana.

Totally disagree. It doesn't need much, because you don't need to cast it before t4, and don't mind spending three mana on a removal spell, and then putting it into play for 1. It's definitely feeling like an aggressive deck card, but beyond that it gets my :thumbsup:.

Don't get me wrong, you can also build around it: but the mark of a good card, is how good is it in a natural deck - meaning is it good when I just throw it in? So far, I'd very much say yes.

It's no delver of secrets though you can see the comparison. Against creatureless control decks that play their removal only eot and not in combat you may have to cast it for 4 mana, but most of the time it's a 1 mana 3/2 flyer that requires only verry little work.

I think many read this card and get the impression your creature has to die to get the discount when in fact it says "a creature". It's either an aggressive stat nighthawk sans lifelink for just :b: or costs 1cmc more than nighthawk vs control decks. Seems really good.

It is very good in CGB's monoblack aggro. Push/Grasp into it is ideal, but it also makes trading on the attack a profitable tempo play. Even suiciding a 2/1 (especially one you can recur) into a 2/3 or 3/3 is an alright line against decks light on removal and fliers.

The deathtouch makes it a decentish blocker, but Gisela has first strike while Skysovereign and Glorybringer can burn before blockers, so it's not that great when you're on defense.

I like it but I'm not sure I want to play 3. I don't think I want to draw more than 1.

Yeah... I'm sure it's good in monoblack aggro, but it's also good in basically any aggressive deck containing black. It's always something to consider imo.

At Mythic, yeah, that makes a lot of sense, it's an obvious inclusion in any deck running the revolt mechanic beyond just push. I'd have run it in my Abzan revolt deck for sure.

I love the card in an Rakdos deck - just unfortunately not Vehicles.

It's a very groan inducing card, a lot of the time when i've made what i thought was a decent trade and my opponent drops one of these I curse, but i'm not entirely sure what deck wants it - in crats it's not exactly a juicy sac target or as powerful as out other payouts, and in an all in aggro deck black really doesn't have much else at 1 worth playing, meaning you have to pair it up with something else (red being the most likely choice but then it doesn't really work with vehicle/vamp/madness synergies either)
