Uh, just had someone play 2 15/16 Tajuru Stalwart with 3 lands in play and a Brain Jar, they only spent 1 mana of the 3 to cast both. Not sure what was going on, I think I could have beaten it (went first with an absurd ramp draw) but my game crashed one turn later.

Anyone have any idea what was going on?

Hacker. The hack is probably what caused the game to crash. Not a good hack if you ask me. Mwuano is a better cheater.

Yeah, it was on steam. I should have thought of that, it actually didn't occur to me someone would hack in duels like that - there's like zero reward? - but that does make sense of it. I would have assumed any hacking would just be people botting gold vs the AI. Shame, at least it's not something I've seen before, though now I wonder about people with more subtle stuff

Most hacks cause the game to crash. Firemind and his friends know way more about this than I do but from what I understand once the cheat happens the games can't sync anymore and the crash. Somehow arbitrarily large X costs seem to get around this. We only KNOW of a couple legit hackers that multiple people on this board have ran into. They plays T2 Ulamogs and massive X spells for kills. One of them also thinks he's clever because his Steam Screenname was stolen from a regular poster on these boards.

When you see his name pop up, just save yourself the time and disconnect your internet connection to the PC. That way you get to finish against the AI that can't abuse his hack running an awful deck, whilst he gets to play alone since that's what he's hell bent on doing.

What I don't understand is what enjoyment does he get out of cheating on a game like this? I could understand if he was modding a FPS/RPG online game like Call of Duty or League of Legends where you can hear people talking or if there's a chatbox. You could get a rise out of people cussing you out on a chatbox or over the mic, but in Duels there's no communication like that.

Maybe he gets his chuckles off of Reddit/NGA threads made about him...

i don't understand why he hasn't been caught. Guys like this get put away pretty quickly on Xbox (there are no cheaters in Duels, this is more from other games), as enough people report him for manipulating the software that it gets flagged with the Xbox Live police (the ones that used to ban Beast for foul language, lol), who then are pretty quick to act.

I used to boost in one of the Call of Duty games (I think it was Black Ops II) and i eventually got banned from the game and they reset my months and months of game progress back to rank zero. It was so funny cuz I was getting really flagrant about the boosting near the end cuz I didn't care. So one of the game-winning kill cams caught me and my buddies in a side room where they were all lining up with tactical insertions and I was just head shotting them like a duck range. It was so obvious. I think the entire lobby reported me.

Why were you even boosting in the first place? The skill level of your average Call of Duty player equates to a bunch of quadriplegic, squeaky amoeba's with mental impairment and ego problems. Pub stomping is easy.

I've said this before, but the thing that baffles me the most is this has been going on for YEARS, i swear he used to do it in earlier DOTP games

It's not the winning that people like him enjoy, it's the reaction. Back when I used to mod I would use the boss decks in multiplayer and it used to trigger people, others only asked me how I managed it. The reactions alone were entertaining but I didn't do it too much, at the of the day playing an actual fair match is more enjoyable. I do wonder if that guy actually works at Stainless, he was hacking the game way before any other modder I knew could decrypt the local files.

yeah, mea culpa. I had no problem getting wins and kills in the pubs or anything. I only boosted when I needed headshots with the magnum to get it golden and crap like that.

Yeah, Harb and I used to use modded decks in 2014 2HG (well, we unlocked the unlocks before Wizards was releasing any codes) but we'd tell people in the lobby that's what we were up to before the game and asked if that was okay. If it wasn't, we left. Most people were glad to see the cards and asked how we did it. We posted links and all were happy.

But that's a far friggin' cry from what this chump does. The funniest part to me is after doing this so long, you'd think he'd at least have learned to git gud without the cheats by now. Nope.

We had a couple of 4ffa nights using Harb's and another modders decks.
Man, that was fun but everyone had to be using modded decks or it wouldn't work out.
