I erased the tags, but I've now put them back in:

viewtopic.php?f=17&t=261

EDIT: So, an experiment shows that the problem is with spoilers inside of spoilers. When I do 20 separate spoiler blocks, everything is fine. When I try to split and confine those spoilers into two more sections of spoilers, it all falls apart.

OK, thanks. I'll check it out as soon as I can.

In the meantime, I bumped the max count up to 255 as a quick band-aid. Any luck? (You may need to edit the post and resubmit, to make phpBB refresh its cached version.)

I'm sorry about this. The mod we're using to allow nested spoilers is somewhat outdated and, honestly, looks like it never really worked that well in the first place, and tracking down problems with other people's ugly old code is neither fun nor easy.

It's definitely not a big issue. It seems that the spoiler blocks don't like a variety of things inside of them. For example:

You can hide one image inside one spoiler

but not multiple times in the same thread

As long as I know what I can do, I'll be fine. It's a personal organization thing and not at all crucial to communication on the forums.

EDIT: Okay, so, I edited this a number of times and now I'm confused why it keeps switching from working to not working.

Neither one looks like it works to me....

I saw it, too. Actually, the first time I looked, neither worked. Then both did. How odd.

One thing I noticed with your post is that you're using both named spoilers (spoiler=) and unnamed (spoiler). That they have different start tags but the same end tag might be confusing the matcher. Just an idea.
Never mind, what am I talking about.

[edit] Looks like when I set up the spoiler= bbcode we only allowed a restricted character set for the title text. A lot of your spoilers used parentheses in the titles, so phpBB didn't parse them. There's no reason to disallow stuff like that and (given how it's used) no security risk, so I enabled all characters in there. Hopefully it's good now... at the very least, your problematic post now displays nicely on my test board using the same settings as here.

They're much more likely to add them in if you do the legwork and link them the images along with your request.

The heart already exists, just to be clear:

Code:
<3

Gives the image Bun posted. And I like the popcorn one. I've used it plenty in the past...

Well, not quite that good. But you can go into your user control panel and turn off the dice. (Or change them to red dice if you have something against grey.)

Consider it a feature request for a distant future when you have nothing better to do, in that case.

Anyway, an in-built way to nominate for Card of the Week would be sweet, but you can wait with that until we start doing it again, if we start doing it again.

I can't really imagine the popcorn smiley being used in a non-superfluous post.

The Usual Update:

Not too much for you today. I put up a new set of dice images; they're smaller and look nicer (in my opinion).
As always, you can change how you see dice in your user control panel: UCP > Board preferences > Edit display options > Display dice.

GobO_Welder rolled 2d4:
4, 3

GobO_Welder rolled 3d6:
5, 3, 5

GobO_Welder rolled 4d8:
5, 7, 2, 4

GobO_Welder rolled 5d10:
4, 4, 1, 4, 2

GobO_Welder rolled 6d12:
6, 10, 1, 12, 5, 10

GobO_Welder rolled 2d20:
20, 18

GobO_Welder rolled 5d100:
85, 86, 23, 19, 53

Yeah, those default skins are pretty awful.

Found a couple things I haven't responded to yet:
Mown wrote:
Oh god those dice. Is there a way to make the entire feature less intrusive? I would much rather just have something like:
Code:
I swing my sword and hit him for [d(ice)]2d6+5[/d(ice)] damage.

Turning into:
Code:
I swing my sword and hit him for 12 damage.

With a dotted underline and the dice input on hover-over. Or something. At least not those massive dice, they strike me as superflous.

Good idea. I'll see what I can do.

Could we get the option to turn off email notifications? I like subscribing to threads to keep track of them, but I prefer to not get my email inbox flooded.

As far as I can tell, subscribing to a thread in phpBB does exactly two things: (1) send you an email when someone posts in it, and (2) put a shortcut to it in your user control panel. Bookmarking a thread just does (2) -- will that work for you?

(and yeah, it's annoying that they have two functions that do such similar things, but eh, that's phpBB for you.)

How does this look?

Code:
I swing my sword and hit him for [dice=inline]2d6+5[/dice] damage.

I swing my sword and hit him for 11 damage.
