I wonder if Grasp of Darkness starts seeing more action?

Grasp only hits Hazoret of the new Gods and not the other Gideon, so I doubt that it sees more play for just one God and a planeswalker.

Yeah... you want exile effects, IMO... I.e. Zombie colors! Go team zombie (after next expansion of course - possibly now, but definitely soon).

Seriously. Feast'll be good against some strategies, but Orzombies DGAF. New zombies aren't our past disappointment Innestrad UB zombies. Pretty sure Orzombies will do just fine without recurring the 2/1 that doesn't turn on unless youre essentially hellbent.

Maybe still disappointing in the end, but still won't be married to the GY like Innestrad.

I'm waiting for the gameplay video where 2 players get an emblem out and run out of cards and have no way of winning or losing. Wonder if it will crash Duels?

Of course it will crash 100% guarantee ... Then Stainless will have to move all the efforts to fix the 2HG in order to fix this bug which will generate another bug (very likely matchmaking again) ... But we are ready for all these aren't we???

I waffle on this Gideon. He's certainly no Ally of Zendikar.

On the one hand, he's a competent beat stick. And his +1 kind of protects himself....but what deck is he trying to go in? Is it control, just trying to be a renewable beater that dodges removal, ala big Gideon? Aggro as....something? He really doesn't fit aggro.

Midrange as....I guess a generic 4/4 most of the time?

Maybe I'm being overly pessimistic, but is he even better than 3cmc Nissa? He's certainly worse than 3cmc Lili.

Maybe I'm being overly optimistic, but a 4/4 indestructible beater sounds pretty good.

A 4/4 indestructible for :1::w::w:.
No catch or attack clauses. What aggro deck would say no I don't want a turn 3 4/4 indestructible creature. There are some new humans on the block and new ways to give haste as well.

If you curve out with him in aggro, you've prob got 1 creature on board, maybe 2. Drop him T3, tick up so if opp has a creature on board they can't trade profitably on the block or damage Gideon on the backswing. Then he's coming at them T4 4/4? How does aggro not want that?

Grasp didn't go anywhere. The only reasons its stock went up are:

1) Red removal suites lower value to control, now that Black is rounded out.

2) Having 2 more mythics to smash.

He blocks any damage from a source, say when you want a blocker when a just played creature has summoning sickness. Something you can try to do with an actual creature but GotT guarantees it won't hurt you. Defensively that's pretty solid. I think I am going to hate facing that guy, only haste creatures will be a threat to him. Pretty obvious we finally have some pw hate because of the combo of both Gids.

The only reason you don't see grasp all the time is because of the :b::b: cost meaning heavy black decks only. It's played in 19-18 black source mana base decks that aren't trying to do some type of oddball stuff.

Actually, Gideon's +1 is useful for control in avoiding a Common anti-control card: fevered visions. If it isn't doing any damage and giving you cards, it's all good right?

Fevered Visions implies some burn or bounce for your Gideon PW though. If you're at -6 life and opponent disperses your Giddy, instant loss.

I'm surprised that in the Patch Notes, there's no mention of this emblem whatsoever in the Known Issues list.. Stainless hoping we won't notice? :D

Well yeah, but if you're at -6 life and he gets dispersed, it's not bad on Gideon. Not his fault you couldn't pull if off; he did his job buying you extra turn(s) already.

The fact he can stop the visions from pinging himself is pretty sweet. Burn decks will probably be able to burn him down decently fast if they have visions down but it keeps you alive that much longer to find a way to win.

Some zombies are all about gy but it looks like now it's all about the several lords and tribal synergies. There is quite a few ways to make zombie tokens as well that will like being in the deck.
