Abzan Seance was way more powerful than OGW ramp

I agree, because Moss got removed with OGW and SoI.

Yeah, BFZ Duels is where the power level drastically changes. In Origins Duels; Elves and Thopters would've rolled over to Anger of the Gods.

Probably because (if ZZ's list is right) Red wasn't popular outside of aggro. 3 of those lists were Abzan, and boy I remember the quality removal options of Angelic Edict and Flesh to Dust. :bored:

Far enough. Cheap removal did exist in other colors (stuff like Dead Weight and Ulcerate just off the top of my head), but I will definitely admit that the options generally weren't nearly as good or numerous as they are in this current version.

Ulcerate is better than Fatal Push.

I think we should find out with a series of competitive battles. We would need some players with the cards needed to make the decks involved or the time to make proxies.

First round would be 2015's best decks agains Origins only.
If 2015 wins then we use the best decks that include BFZ and so forth until the 2015 decks lose.

That feeling when you topdeck a Ulcreate to kill a Kiran and you're at 4 life.

That feeling when you draw Fatal Push while a generic 5 cost is beating the Holy hell out of you

I actually had a lot of fun building decks in 2015. So many silly fun ideas that were actually viable because of the environment.

One of my favorite derpy decks from 2015 was the one that used the combo of Warstorm Surge/Garruk's Packleader with Cloudshift + Warden of the Eye.

The thing that makes me the most sad is that I could actually recreate a version of the deck in Duels that would do basically the same exact thing, but it is just WAAAY too derpy to actually be viable here.

Edit: Satyr Wayfinder was probably the most defining card of the entire meta. The thing was literally EVERYWHERE.

Lmao you could literally see the wheels turning in 3B's head up until he realize people could use it to blank his removal.

I miss that deck... I remember when I built it for the first time, and just got crazy excited. But that also brings up bad memories - like the fact that the stupid combo was bugged (with Doubling Season), and so I didn't want to play it anymore: One of the many times Stainless ruined the day.

I'm a simple man. I eat steak well done, kill small animals, and I like my removal spells to stick.

Wayfinder would probably end up getting the axe before too long though. For whatever reason they don't seem to like us having good mana fixing options early.

Also, for as much as I enjoyed 2015, Wayfinder, along with the later additions from Tarkir (tri-lands and the wedge critters, particularly the Sultai one) ended up turning the entire meta into 3-5 color monstrosities.

Wayfinder decks were the best decks in 2015, and the problem with that is that slow midrange decks like the Wayfinder decks are exactly the matchup Ramp wants to see all day. The best version of the best 2015 deck is probably better than your average BFZ ramp deck, but that doesn't matter if the Wayfinder deck is giving ramp all the time in the world to cast Thunder for a million.

Also, Duels has walkers, something 2015 decks would have a hard time dealing with.

I think with KLD and the vehicles finally made duels stronger than dotp2015. Although dotp2015 allowed to build more complex and combo decks with Seance and Sphinx-Bone Wand
