I'd like to watch, but I can't bring myself to watch something as terribly named as a "Pre-pre-release".

Early impressions looking at the cards:

- Minotaurs look disfunctional. If trying to go tribal, you'll want to go hellbent to turn the lord on, but their costs are largely midlevel (3-4cmc) so will be difficult to empty your hand. Like lord seems maybe ok for a general hellbent deck, but other minotaurs aren't aggressively costed for hellbent. I get that minotaurs are two different worlds of bull and man pieced together into an unnatural monstrosity trapped in a nearly endless maze of futility - but did they have to make the Minotaur tribe like that? Too literal ewe guise. Ham-fisted AF.

- Hellbent decks got a bunch of fun toys. Lupine prob see more play now.

- Simic ramp got some fun toys. Will Kiora see more play now? Think her stock might rise.

- Humans, like always, got some stuff giving them buzz. Will human.deck finally live up to its prerelease hype or will it fail to materialize as top tier again?

- Lot of Archers/archer theme spells in this set.

- Cards that get or give some bonus to cycling seem underwhelming.

- Embalm got a couple cards that will likely see play, but embalm.deck seems like hot garbage.

- I want to build a GB -/- counters deck. Maybe terrible, but I'm intrigued.

- I want to build a Bant Tokens deck. Could be fun.

- I want to revisit lifedrain.deck. Maybe still subpar, but several new toys to test out.

- WB zombies is still on top of my 'hell yes' list. Kinda funny to me that it looks to shape up better than the more classic UB zombies. Like if red got some fairies that made RU fairies better than UB (that's prob next block).

I certainly hope so, it's a card that probably gets played for a long time to come. Basically a 2 mana 3/2 flying death touch.

I could see it being great in aggro mirrors. T2 Fatal Push their T1/2 play, then drop this.

I mean it's conditional and all, but I think it's relatively easy to support without making your deck bad. As such, I hope we get it, although it's time to shine may not be quite yet.

Been thinking about that new simic mana creature (weaver of currents) and it works disgustingly well with Kiora, I think there's another potential way to cast a turn 5 Ulamog/Kozilek there with a turn 2 elf, and even if you miss out on the turn 2 elf you can cast turn 5 Sandwurm convergence/awakened part the waterviel ect ect as you'll have 9 mana to play with - Wonder if simic ramp will be the way to go or will Gruul stay out on top?

That Simic Naga caught my eye too. Very likely to get it at uncommon.

Yes on simic ramp, but probably not because of the Naga. I mean new Nissa... come on. :D

Hmm interesting note Cascading Cataracts with some stuff that make land a creature. Can't remember that card name now that we have in duels but it's 2W wall that puts 3x +1/+1 counters to one land and makes it 3/3 creature. With that land it would be 3/3 indestructible :O

For me the true power of cycling in Duels is the maindeckable hate since we lack sideboarding. For example, I'll be swapping out every instance of Fragmentize for Forsake the Wordly. I'll happily pay 2 extra mana for removal of cmc restrictions, exiling and instant speed if I can pay 2 and cycle it in dead matchups.

Between almond cat's enchantments and kaladesh / Aether revolt's artifacts you won't be cycling it much.

I'm actually curious if I can make a cycling/tutelage deck with the cards they give us.

Exactly, thats why I'm hopeful on that card.

If they give us that 6 mana Blue enchantment that cycles everything for 0, that'd be worth testing with Tutelage.

Cycling doen't cost that much in general though. Image

Why not both? Nissa enjoys her +2 Loyality she gets from the Naga just as well...

I'm thinking the idea is to slam the enchantment T6 to draw three, then free cycle anything you're holding for maximum tutelage. Also would be pretty funny to chain free cycle cards, milling away, until you hit a non-cycle spell that you still have plenty of mana to cast.

Idk if the deck would be any good at all (need to look harder at what we get), but the general idea is interesting/funny.

Cowl and Naga into T4 Plated Crusher.

Cowl and Naga and Kiora into T5 9-loyalty Nissa (or hardcast Ulamog)
