You can wait. It's ability triggers and they target the card they want. Both players will then both have to pass priority for the trigger to resolve, so you can then exile that card.

Suppose my opponent attacks with a 5/6 Tarmogoyf and I block with a Slippery Bogle enchanted with Hyena Umbra. Before damage, he casts Temur Battle Rage. Does the Bogle survive?

I'm guessing "no" since after first strike damage, the Totem Armor is destroyed, and then after normal damage the Bogle dies?

Right. Bogle gets hit twice thanks to doublestrike, first removing the totem armour and then killing it.

Thanks. To further clarify: I take 7 trample damage - Tarmogoyf does 10, the 2/2 Bogle absorbs two, and then the 1/1 Bogle absorbs one?

If instead of Bogle I had something like Cadaverous Knight with Hyena Umbra block the Tarmogoyf, then after first strike damage I can choose to either regenerate or to let the Totem Armor be destroyed. If I choose the former, the knight stays alive and the Umbra stays attached, but I take 7 trample damage (since the regenerating creature is removed from combat). If I choose the latter and then regenerate after normal damage, the Umbra is destroyed but I only take 5 trample damage. Correct?

Correct. The 2 replacement effects wants to happen at the same time, and you choose which one applies first. This replaces the destroy, and thus you control which one you want to happen.

If my board is 2 creatures + Hanweir Militia Captain + a vehicle, strictly speaking I should be able to crew the vehicle during my upkeep phase so I'd have four creatures on the board -> the captain flips right? As in, the trigger goes on the stack, I crew the vehicle in response, trigger resolves seeing four creatures, and the captain flips. If so, how do I do this in Duels?

Yes. Captain's ability goes on the stack at the beginning of the Upkeep. In response, you can instant speed crew the vehicle. It resolves and you have 4 creatures, then the Captain's ability resolves and he flips.

edit: In duels IDK. I haven't played with that card, does it put the ability on the stack if it checks and sees you don't already have 4 creatures?

No wait, it shouldn't trigger unless you already have 4 or more creatures though should it? Like there's no trigger to respond to like that unless the condition is met that triggers it no?

In Duels specifically, the unfortunate answer is no.

I have had a similar setup but, since we don't have a proper untap/upkeep phase, I was not able to untap, pause, crew my vehicle before the upkeep begins, and thus trigger the captain's transformation.

08/04/2016 If you don’t control four or more creatures (including Hanweir Militia Captain itself) at the moment your upkeep begins, its ability doesn’t trigger. You can’t wait for other effects in your upkeep to provide creatures.

Thanks - always read the gatherer rulings /wrist.

New question. The card Holistic Wisdom was obviously printed before Planeswalkers were a thing, which is why it doesn't reference it. But Planeswalkers are a thing now. Can Holistic Wisdom be used on Planeswalkers? Gatherer doesn't say. I would guess "yes" since Tarmogoyf counts Planeswalkers, but I'm not sure.

What happens if you cycle the last card in your hand to draw a new card, but your opponent casts Whispers of Emrakul at instant speed using Brain in a jar with the cycling trigger on the stack.

I think Discard is a cost, so you Discard anyway, then whispers resolves making you Discard 1 or 2 cards if you have them, then the cycling draw resolves and you draw a card.

Gatherer does tell you, read the errated text. Planeswalker is a card Type (btw; so is Tribal which is why Tarfire is played in Modern).

Haven's got it right. The Cycling cost includes discarding the card; so you discard, then Whispers resolves and you discard if you have the cards, then the Cycling Trigger resolves and you draw a card.
