i can't bring myself to delete anything with a winning record. This is getting really tough. These stupid deckbuilding contests are killing me.

Now I know there's atleast 15 decks that are outdated. Image

Take the older ones for a spin and play them just like you do vert's builds, that'll give them a loosing record in no time. :|

If I have a Gideon emblem and play Walking Ballista for 0, 1) does the Ballista survive and 2) can I use it to shoot for one damage?

I'm guessing #1 is "yes" (survives as a 1/1) and #2 is "no" (it's a 1/1 but doesn't have any +1/+1 counters)?

Yeah you're right, it lives but it doesn't have any counters to throw at people

But, but, but... I have an ally deck that still might come back into prominence! Oh, Munda, I'll never quit you.

Ok, so here's a silly question that I don't know how it work exactly and I don't really want to go the trouble of actually testing:

I have gitrog in play, since I have 8 cards in hand at my Discard fase, I have to Discard... So I ditch a Land, trigger good ol' Git and still have 8 cards, do I:

A) have to Discard again, to which I'll ditch another Land and procede to draw a significant part of my deck and using something like tutelage mill my opponent into oblivion?

B) keep 8 cards, because Discard step is over?

C) None of the above?

Option A, you keep discarding and drawing until you stop ditching a land, had this happen to me before and it was really weird haha

wtf? I don't think that's right in paper Magic, because it wouldn't recheck your hand. That would be the equivalent of having multiple clean-up phases.

That said, Magic Duels does things it's own way, so I don't doubt it happened to you. I just don't think it SHOULD happen to you.

EDIT: So I looked it up and apparently Duels is right. You just have infinite successive clean up phases

https://blogs.magicjudges.org/rulestips ... -twilight/

There’s a lot of cards in the new and mad Innistrad that instruct you to discard cards, but perhaps the most interesting one is the one that isn’t connected to Innistrad at all: discarding down to hand size at the end of your turn (formally known as the cleanup step). So what happens if you end your turn with The Gitrog Monster and eight cards in hand, and you decide to discard a land? Normally, no one has priority during this time. However, because The Gitrog Monster had a triggered ability that triggered in the middle of the cleanup step, the ability goes on the stack, and players can play spells and abilities in response. After the ability resolves, players get another window to play spells and abilities. So, if you drew a spell with The Gitrog Monster, you’d be able to cast it during that cleanup step. Then, after all players have passed priority, the game… goes to another cleanup step. If you’ve still got eight cards in your hand at this time, you’ll have to discard one again. If the one you discarded was a land, you’ll have to draw with The Gitrog Monster, pass priority, go to another another cleanup step, discard a card from your hand, and so on and so forth until you stop drawing cards, because the game cannot progress to the next turn until an entire cleanup step goes by with no state-based actions happening and no abilities triggering.

Aggro mill?

Tutelage + ETB draw... Maybe flicker... Some fat for Rishkar... Could work.
I'm thinking along a different line though... I'll post it if I can get it to 60 cards.

Tutelage in play Gitrog in play, preferably a full hand, cast Rishkars to draw 6 and use the second ability to cast collective defiance, discarding 12 cards(hopefully with a bunch of lands, drawing 12 and then drawing for each land discarded. End of turn, discard all lands and possibly draw even more and discard those.

Mill-nuke!

Just a side note, if you Discard multiple lands at the same time, it only triggers gitrog once, but it should still be interesting to mill-nuke 60+ cards "tolarian academy-style" in one turn.

Btw, don't forget to +0 Chandra Flamecaller...

My seven year old son is suggesting including Sire of Stagnation, in some kind of mill/ramp hybrid. I'm going to try to put that together today.

True - it would only be 1 additional draw. But still, Rishkar into defiance alone would be a ****. Drawing 6+11+1+1 in most circumstances, would mill 38 cards minimum, and more likely 50ish. I guess casting titan's strength on gitrog just before rishkar resolves would solve that dilemma. Draw 9, discard 14 and draw 14 + 1 and endstep draw 1 from discarding, keeping a handful of lands only, so each iteration of gitrog, you discard another land. Nuked.

Wrong thread for it, but I actually put together an alpha build of that deck:

Vortex 2.0 AKA FrogMill

Creature(8)
3 x Pilgrim's Eye
2 x Tireless Tracker
1 x Nissa, Vastwood Seer
1 x The Gitrog Monster
1 x Sire of Stagnation

Sorcery(14)
4 x Take Inventory
3 x Cathartic Reunion
2 x Eldritch Evolution
2 x Nissa's Pilgrimage
2 x Reverse Engineer
1 x Rishkar's Expertise

Enchantment(3)
3 x Sphinx's Tutelage

Planeswalker(1)
1 x Nissa, Vital Force

Artifact(8)
4 x Renegade Map
4 x Alchemist's Vial

Land(26)
6 x Island
2 x Swamp
2 x Cinder Glade
4 x Mountain
7 x Forest
2 x Rootbound Crag
2 x Drownyard Temple
1 x Geier Reach Sanitarium

To view this deck go to: https://www.magicduelshelper.com/deckli ... 937e5813b5

Created using Magic Duels Helper: http://www.magicduelshelper.com

Haven't tested it yet, but I'm guessing I should find some space for Metallic Rebuke or some other counter to defender the frog, because this version has no way to get it back it if dies...

Can i get a ruling on Commencement of festivities?

If your opponent attacks a planeswalker in Duels it's still dealt damage through this, is that how it's meant to work or is that a bug?

That's the way I read the card. Pw damage is redirected and isn't player damage, so it shouldn't be prevented.
