In any case imagine basically a scenario:

A beam of light is fired, then intercepted by a split-second vortex of air spinning at high velocities, filtering it into a rainbow-like effect.

Is it possible?

I would say that what you describe is technically possible, but would require some serious control of the air to respond to the speed of light and for the air molecules to move and contort fast enough to intercept and diffuse the photons.

Basically, light is fast, air is slow.

Right, but does that mean that a fire-bender doesn't actually bend fire, but instead vibrates the particles in any object until they combust or melt?

Fire was always the weirdo of the platonic elements (if we don't include aether). All the others are materials. Did Plato think of fire as a material? Did he assume things were partially composed of heat particles?

Yes. The reaction we know of as "fire" was liberating the fire-particles from the substance burning. That's why you typically couldn't ignite ashes: all the recoverable Fire had already exited the substance.

Pre-modern science is almost as fun as real science.

And the elements were bound together are torn apart by the forces of love and strife! Where those explanatory terms or did he actually think particles felt kinship?

Relics of animistic thought. Aphrodite/Eros is the universal glue in many of these schemes, by virtue of embodying love.

Well, there is a reason Captain Planet was one fifth heart.

I should have gotten a doctorate in psuedo-science, that seems fun and useful.

Indeed, considering that it's a strong multi-billion dollar a year industry split into lots of creative subsections.

So, no clue who follows comics, but remember how they decided to make Captain America a Nazi?

Yeah, apparently that same writer decided Magneto needed to be a Nazi too. You know, Magneto, the holocaust survivor.

I don't want that to be true, but I have a feeling that there's a link and/or a picture incoming that will prove my disbelief wrong...

Western esoterism is fun to read about.

Comparing Magneto to a nazi is nothing new. It has always been considered horribly offensive, even in the 90's, to make this equivalency.

No.

Instead of using physics, wouldn't it be easier to say "it's just magic lol"?

I always like to think of Fire as representing Plasma, even though to my understand fire isn't actually plasma. But a lot of the sun is, and the sun is very fiery, so we can just stretch things a bit and it all works out.
And then naturally air is gas, rock is solid and water is fluid.

Not comparing. Making him an actual Hydra member. A card carrying Nazi.

But no, I can provide no proof. I only pick up 3 or so Marvel books, and they all steer clear of things like this. But I have friends talking about it.

Aren't the Hydra above nazism, though? IRRC only a few are actual nazis, most exploited nazis for other agendas

They were a branch that split off because Nazis thought too small in their opinion.

It's not too late to start. Solphos block is the perfect introductory course.
