Well, call me impressed. Devilwuster's thread is doing a good thing on the other forum.

Sad thing is it's still going to get deleted, even though it's constructive mostly constructive.

Devil forgot to mention that a bunch of users accounts mysteriously 'Encountered an error' which essentially deleted the users accounts.

Although support was very quick to assure me mine was still active and that they were working very hard to solve the problem (which still isn't fixed) nevermind that I told them exactly what the problem was and how to fix it. Liars and cheats, the lot of them. I won't miss them.

So, this was the last message I sent to Dragonette.
I didn't proofread so it might be rambly, and there are typos, but whatever.

Quote:
Just to clarify, my question about the deck pack wasn't about the deck pack itself, but rather when Wizards_Sean eventually posts it, who is his target audience? There's only going to be a handful of people there where before there were dozens (or more).

Your DotP community has been neglected and slighted for far too long. It's borderline nonexistant.
I've been part of your site for 6 years. My first three years and 3000 posts were for the Star Wars Miniatures/RPG, which naturally ran it's course. No complaints there.
The last 3 years and 4500 posts here have been devoted solely to Duels of the Planeswalkers which *should* still be going strong, but problems with the game have been reported to the point of spamming and nothing, absolutely nothing, has been said on the matter. I'm not going to bother you with specifics on that because it's not your department, but that's a huge reason why people have left; the silence. They are led to believe they are talking directly to Wizards of the Coast and they are being ignored.

Without venturing into other parts of the site (D&D, Magic/Magic Online etc.) I still was a fairly prominant presence. I've been namedropped by Wizards_Sean, Ken Troop, and the site design staff. I was also the last of the cornerstones of your DotP community to leave. I understand and respect your feeling and regret of that unfavourable circumstance, but it doesn't change anything. I don't stay with a site for 6 years because I don't like it. but your company has ignored far too many problems and far too many people and as prominent as I'd like to believe, I'm not the captain of this ship and I'm not going down with it.

I do not, did not and will not advertise other sites/communities on here specifically as others have, but at the same time, I'm not going to recommend your dying community to anyone else either.
Listening to people is a problem on here. I's an open forum, their voices aren't hard to find, especially the ones that want you to hear what needs to be fixed. That's problem #1. Problem #2 is that you need to communicate back to them. And not in cryptic/vague/insubstantial copy/paste messages. You need to actually tell them everything you can and if there is info that you have that you can't tell them, it doesn't hurt to say such info also exists beyond your reach. Reassure that things are being done with concrete fact/evidence that thigns are being done. Doing otherwise is simply lying to them and believe me, even if they don't know you're lying to them, they will think you're lying to them.

This may be nothing new to you, but you know something? If I had access to the contacts and information you and Wizards_Sean do, your community would never have been in jeopardy because I would have sated them with everything I could and told them straight up how things are. The problem is that NOTHING was said about any of the problems plaguing this site and community and that's why it's dying.
You people simply don't care.

Thanks for your time and I hope you can somehow turn this around. I don't like turning my back on anything I've supported, especially for a not insignificant portion of my life.
Farewell.

The real question is.......... what can she do about it? I think it's just a case of **** corporate policy honestly.

Doesn't matter how she or anyone else can fix their issues anymore. That was my adieu.
If they find a way cool. If not, doesn't affect me anymore either way.

Which sucks, because like I said, I went there for 6 years (might actually be 7) because I liked going there. The last couple months have taken 6 years of interest right out of me.
So now, it's whatever. I doubt anything will change, ever. That's why I left.

Hey gang! Just wanted to drop by to mention a few things. :)

I started visiting wotc when I was 16, way back in 2003, and I finally made an account and started posting in the vintage forum in 2005. I was promptly mocked by team ABS into oblivion, and probably would have left if not for Doug Linn and glenchuy and a few ABSers such as Supa_Tim who were kind enough to convince me that I should stay. Eventually I got in pretty tight with the Vintage community, although it started to die off over the next few years, and today it has been pretty much dead for about 2-3 years at least. The fact that the entire wotc forum is pretty much dead at this point is a reality. Most of the magic formats have most recent posts that are days if not weeks old (months, in the case of vintage,) instead of minutes or seconds, like we would expect. What posts there are have been made by a very small number of users.

Am I happy wotc is dead? Of course not. I would say that they did this to themselves, so I am happy that most users were not willing to stick around and put up with it, but I'm not happy they are dead. Or perhaps more accurately: I am not happy that there was a need for them to die, but since the need arose, I'm glad it happened? I'm not sure how to phrase it.

In any case, this brings me to my point: I like giving Monica a hard time as much as anyone, but please please please be careful about the kinds of posts you make on wotc going forward. I absolutely understand wanting to bring new users to this forum, and making sure no one gets left out. You guys have a really tight community, and that's a great thing. But after the redirection to NGA thread was initially closed, and then the one after that, even though there was nothing really disrespectful in the thread aside from the mere fact of its existence, I don't want to misrepresent NGA as a site that is stealing members from anyone else. That could give us a bad reputation.

You know and I know that wotc did this to themselves, and we created a new site in the void they themselves created. But they might see it as an insult, a violation of their terms of use, or even a problem that was scaused specifically by NGA, as absurd as that sounds, and they have the legal resources to make my life personally very difficult if they become so inclined.

Now, this doesn't mean you can't discuss this site anywhere else, but I think that we need to be careful not to alienate any big sites such as wotc, mtgs, enworld, and similar sites. If you really want to share NGA with everyone, probably the easiest way to do so is to simply edit your signature to include a link here and maybe a small blurb. This won't violate most sites' terms of service (although of course you should check to be sure,) and it will give a ton of visibility, depending on how prolific a poster you are or have been on that other site.

Finally, please remember that it is possible for a post to be flaming even if it is directed at someone who is not a user on this site (in this case, wotc in general.) I don't think anyone in this thread has earned a warning, but let's try to keep things civil and make sure it doesn't come to that. Complaining is still okay, though!

Thanks,

Sarah

As mentioned above, I'd made a thread asking why a thread was closed (which, by the way, Monica finally came clean when I forced her hand and she said that it was a community member that reported the thread because of constant bumping), but after it disappeared I took it to a PM rather than make another thread (I feel that mjack was convinced I would make another thread as seen earlier, but I thought that would be too predictable).
Just to be clear as well, the above quote was a PM to Dragonette, not a thread.

And also as I said, if I'm talking to other people from other message boards, Facebook, real life or wherever, I'll be referring them here rather than their main site. I have nothing more to say on the subject over there so you don't have to worry about that from me at least.

And in all honesty, I can't really speak for everyone, but I get the feeling we're done with the "competition" or whatever we'd call it. After my thread vanished and with what Devilwuster posted, there's really nothing more to say. If anyone here were to have contact with Wizards members that aren't here, I would suggest shooting them a PM and leave it at that.

Everything else you said is understood as well. I kinda went off on mjack for basically saying the same thing, but my feeling at the time was that he felt I had something horribly illicit planned (not entirely outside my personality profile I'll grant). Now it's out of my system, I held back any horrible tendencies there may or may not have been and it's a closed book in my opinion.

In closing, I don't feel that Dragonette was unreasonable in any of the messages we exchanged, the part that burned me is that she didn't say anything in a PM that couldn't have been said in public. Which is why I told her outright, their withholding of information that doesn't benefit from being withheld is painting them in a really bad light. It's alienating their customers and killing their community. Like I said, I was there for years, but it only took a couple months for them to suck the life right out of the place with their Gestapo style moderating (My interactions with their ORCs is legendary) and perpetual silence about any questions or issues people were having about anything at all.

So yeah, I'm over it. Moving on, moving forward. :)

I am looking for some dotp 2013 deck builds and I was wondering if anyone knew where to find them or if there were some good ones on this old forum.

The search function was totally broken in The Great Cleansing, and I'm not sure if it ever got fully fixed. There's some good builds floating around there, deep in the depths somewhere, though your best bet would probably be to make a thread here soliciting 2013 builds (did we have one here? Or was that also in the other place because no one could find the threads?).

I agree with Gobo_admin. I think it's time for us to move on. It seems some of us are still a little hurt over the whole split. I get that. They showed us (the DotP community) time after time (even before the forum change) that they don't really care about us. So we really should move on and stop caring about them.

I know it's not as extreme as this, but I couldn't think of a better phrase than this. By continuing to go over there, by continuing to make threads and by continuing to PM the orcs and mods we keep re-opening the same wound. We just need to leave it alone so it can heal.

Does anyone believe this?

"Quick note - the Deck Pack 3 was purposefully released on iPad sooner than other platforms. I'll be posting more info on this iPad update soon, along with some info for the other Magic 2014 platforms and when they can expect these new decks." - Wizards_Sean

Not at all. But it does confirm the decks as "real".

That means the deck builds are final, I guess. Woo.

The fact the info was not posted beforehand, and, in fact, over a day afterwards makes Sean out to be a liar. I knew him to be slovenly, but I never had proof of him as a liar until this. Welp, there went the last shred of respect I had for anyone at WotC I don't know personally.

Yeah, you would think that would be a selling point. "Good news to iPad players..."

It's just another lame dishonest smokescreen, and not even a remotely believable one.

I have to agree here. If they really wanted to do it, you would have expected something official before it was released. I mean (and I've not even tried to play multiplayer since I got the update), if it really fixes the issue, great!

But, since they still don't have dates for the other systems...even if it was intentional, it just looks bad...really, really bad...
