Actually, normal decks should do just fine. Like that Nezumi guy. It doesn't really matter if you don't damage them the first five turns when they have no hand left.

i don't think discard is good enough in a lotus format, especially now that turn 1 discard is illegal

I was under the impression that they tried that and people don't want to join a forum just to play a game.

we clearly can't beat reddit, so may as well join them

To be honest I'm losing interest in playing b/c a full set of rounds takes 5 weeks for what is essentially 30 minutes to an hour's worth of math.

I realize that is just my preference though.

Basically my view is I didn't participate in Round 3 b/c I forgot and then in Round 4 b/c I didn't like it. Since that was 2 weeks and it's going to be almost another week before scoring is done, that feels like forever. If it had been say 2 days it wouldn't have felt near as bad.

Yeah, I could at least try posting something over at /r/threecardblind. For a while, I've thought it would be cool if 3CM had its own website, but that would be a big project for very unpredictable gain. Anyway, for tonight, let's just wrap up this season.

after thinking about it, i think elspeth, sun's champion might be ban worthy in alternate rounds, i think it's better than the titans (i would seriously play it over grave titan)

i would totally write for a three card magic blog, but the problem is getting others to help with generating the content and getting readers (being narrow in scope would help with concept ideas)

Choose whether your deck is from Innistrad, Zendikar, Ravnica, Mirrodin, Lorwyn-Shadowmoor, Alara, Kamigawa, Theros, Kaladesh, or Tarkir. All cards in your deck must have been printed in block(s) focussing on your chosen plane.
(For the sake of simplicity, cards from other sets and products, even if they're clearly plane-related, are disallowed.)

So that means Beckon Apparition is disallowed if you choose Ravnica? Or you mean stuff like Soul of Ravnica is banned since it's Ravnica-themed but not from a Ravnica block set? Not that many of the Souls would be used in 3CM to begin with, although with landrule in effect...:shrug:

And for the sake of keeping things very clear: does New Phyrexia count as Mirrodin and vice versa?

If it was printed in that plane-focus block it's legal, printing also-elsewhere doesn't remove that. Thoughtseize would be legal in either a Theros deck or a Lorwyn-Shadowmoor deck. Well, it would be if not for that pesky discard rule.

I mean stuff like Soul of Ravnica (possibly more relevantly, Hangarback Walker is clearly a Kaladesh card but not printed in a Kaladesh block; Kytheon, Hero of Akros is a Theros-plane card not printed in a Theros block... Commander precons are full of plane-specific cards unique to those decks; I expect Future Sight and Planechase did some of the same).

Yes, NPH was in a Mirrodin-focus block. It counts as Mirrodin. Phyrexia was not one of my specified planes - I intentionally kept it to modern expansion block planes.

Oh, and masterpiece series are not included. Sol Ring isn't a Kaladesh card.

i was actually thinking about unbanning some of the 1-drop discard spells because some of them probably don't make the cut on turn 2 and they're functionally banned otherwise so there's no harm really


it might be interesting to have dominaria as an option, although i suspect the metagame would be all dominaria, so it's probably for the best

Choosing Dominaria allows Lion's Eye Diamond and about two-thirds of the available Madness cards that have been printed. I have absolutely no problem with it not being an option.

It gets brought to my attention many times that when I say "you know someone's going to {do thing}" it sounds like I'm the one going to do said thing. I have a feeling I keep presenting stuff that way as a form of subconscious humor.
