Does it take the same amount of packs to complete every set or is it different. Either way, how many packs does it take to complete each set? thank you in advance!

There are big and small sets. 80 or 64 boosters worth of cards each.

Specific sets' campaigns also reward different amounts of boosters and gold, so the final required farming varies.

Origins is 80 boosters
BfZ is 80
OGW is 64
SOI 80
EMN 64
KLD 80
AER 64

That's the gist of it.
Easy to understand, given the new 2 sets per block policy.

Another quick check in the card collection by set is to count the number of missing mythic/rare cards you have. As each pack nets you 1 mythic/rare it is an easy way to check how many you have to go and card collection allows you to filter by set.

yeah but I can't tell the difference between regular rare and a mythic rare. both look gold-ish to me. and if its supposed to be that way, then I really have no way of knowing, lol.

You can set your filters to mythic and rare only, then count everything that shows up.

Have a side-by-side comparison. The Mythic symbol is coloured darker and orange-gold-ish; the Rare symbol is coloured lighter and yellow-gold-ish.
