I never felt Reclamation Sage was a strong card even when people were playing it back then. But now, I think he is the new black. I stumbled upon him when I am trying to rebuild my Jund style deck. Mid range deck is really struggling because of vehicles. These types of decks like to play card advantage removals like Ob Nixilis Reignited or Gilt-Leaf Winnower. But these removals also cannot hit vehicles. Sure you can play instants but no instant removal has card advantage built in. Then I stumbled on Reclamation Sage.

I think in this meta, he is not only playable but is actually good. Try him out if you havn't already.

On Xbox.. where you get matched up with ppl who don't have a single vehicle in their library.. it's not so hot. But.. in a tournament.. if I'm running green.. I'd rock at least two, probably three.

I would only run 1 with a bellower, the thing is a vehicle deck is always gonna have more vehicles than you have sage's so you are better off running instant removal and not nerfing your creature spots.

You know, I have no argument with your assessment, Hannibal, but I'm getting hung up on one thing:

Reclamation Sage is a guy? (Here's a link to the image in large size:https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/echomage/alters/712/401/750.reclamation_sage.jpg)

I know this is utterly irrelevant to the discussion, but the sage is a woman (albeit an elf woman with a receding hairline). Either that, or the elf has been hitting the gym with extra enthusiasm on chest day.

Also: Conclave Naturalists have the same power, but 4, and 4/4. What is your feeling on the Reclamation Sage's bigger sister?

Based on how Black was until not too long ago, I expected a post saying how Sage is trash right now :P

Problem with Naturalists is its competition at the 5 spot. Harder to swallow a 4/4 that might not even have anything to blow up, in the same spot you could be running big Nissa or Skysovereign that can simply end games. Easier to swallow a 2/1 in the 3 spot that can be fetched up with a Bellower and isn't competing with Game Enders in your build.

Personally, I think Conclave Naturalists are the right call right now, along with Reclamation Sage. I think -DarkShock- is just wrong here - the more targets they have to blow up, the more relevant these become. If they really have that many vehicles to destroy, then the "destroy a permanent" aspect of these cards is rarely ever a dead draw. While it is obviously inefficient, I usually have a target even if it's just a thopter or a servo token, and that can make the difference between stabilizing the board, killing their planeswalker, or even attacking for the win. Feel free to disagree of course, and play whatever pile of mythics you feel are better suited to your deck.

Play whatever you want? Dammit, Rumfish! I asked for opinions so I don't have to form one of my own. Are you new to the Internet something? Start broadcasting your opinions from a soapbox, man!

Yup, Sage is a woman, except calling her a guy is still perfectly acceptable.

See, in the periods of middle and modern English male pronouns could be used interchangeably as a gender neutral pronoun. To this day doing so is still considered grammatically correct, although now it is generally looked down upon since the whole "gender identity" movement took off.

Wreck Sage is good tech. Even in SOI/EMN season it was Tutilage this and Visions that and Always Watching the other things. She's just gotten better with all the artifacts in the recent sets. Plus she's all bff with Woodland Bellower, not that anyone runs him anymore.

You're doing it wrong if you're not playing Woodland Bellower anytime you're in and the curve allows it.

It's hard to be against a card that can answer so many aggressive game enders that are wrecking havoc.

You were supposed to read into the dismissiveness of my tone when I said "whatever pile of mythics," which indicates what I think of playing goodstuff over cards that are ideal for a particular metagame. If that is not sufficiently subtle, I will return with a giant fish to slap you about the face and neck. :teach:

I pretty much always played 2-3 rec sages in every green deck I made during previous seasons and I almost wish I could go up to four for this one.

The Reclamation Sage in the picture is a chick, but any elf shaman could be a Reclamation Sage. It isn't a named person you are summoning like when you summon Nissa, or Pia. It's just a random Rec Sage. The one you summon could be a chick, and it could be a dude. But, either way, it's an elf, so it's hard to tell the difference.
