TBH I didn't think this was such a detailed contest, I though it was just people giving ideas similar to the constructed forum and then a vote where people can say which they liked the most (without having tested everything).

Now, now. There is no need for such cruelty.

Sadly, I have already named all three of my children Moose. I just... I joined this forum too late.

I thought about this by looking at the constructed subforum, there are tons of ideas, some good and some only for fun, some discussed a lot and some not. I see that those discussions improve these ideas a lot but they don't bring at an optimized decklist, since they are mostly opinions on different parts of the deck.
I wanted to bring the deckbuilders here to develope the same concept, so we would have a refined decklist from the challenging format, from the multiple testing and from the natural discussion during the poll.
The contest is born with this idea, but since many people prefer more relaxed constraints and more ideas over the optimized decklist, this is one of the reason (if not the main) for the next week poll.

Okay, I can admit I acted out of place - I jumped the gun, mainly because I was looking to entertain myself waiting for the showdown and I missed the first deck building contest and a few people said they had decks or were interested in flicker. As my post has thankfully been mostly ignored I suspect we can just move on and wait for correct time for Giocher to post the next round once the tournaments have settled down.

Apologies everyone.

Am I required to post nudes of myself throughout the forum to suitably abase myself?

No excuses! There are forms you can complete and steps you can take to get that fixed. The process takes a bit so you'd better get started (In the meantime, I'd start calling them by their proper new name right away so they have a chance to adjust).

So when is the next one starting? Also, giocher, I think you should just decide yourself on the next theme. Making it democratic is unnecessary, people will suggest things, if you want to do them, they'll get done, no big deal, it's all for fun anyway.

For example, I have 0 interest in doing flicker immediately after revolt - which is kind of a similar idea. Does my opinion matter? Nope, you decide buddy, we'll all back you either way.

Well, i like advices. I already had an idea for the theme and colors, that could bring to different decks as it was for revolt. But i can read other suggestions during that poll and maybe find something that could be nice for the contest.

Fwiw, I'm already working on a 'flicker deck.' So disregard anything from me that sounded like a complaint. This one looks like more fun, than I'd thought after all.

Round 2 of the deckbuilding contest is arrived! The theme of this week is Flicker and every deckbuilder has the complete freedom about colors.
This time decklists will be anonymous, so PM me with your decklist. The deadline is 26 February, have fun and make the jank great again!

Edit: at least 5-6 flicker spells required, everything else is left to the deckbuilder.

Oh goody. We have a week to submit our decks right? Just want to make sure I don't miss the deadline as I've got a Johnny pile lined up, but it needs a lot of testing/tuning.

How is flicker being defined? I foresee a handful of decks with bounce/tempo effects over what I would call flicker but my idea could be skewed too. If my thinking is correct though, there are only a small handful of cards that cover the idea and we'll all be sporting :w: or :u: (or both) in the deck (Essence Flux, Eldrazi Displacer, Long Road Home, Acrobatic Maneuver etc). Now if we're counting bounce effects or just straight return effects, then it gets a bit broader (so say a spirit deck with Spectral Shepherd or an artifact deck with Esperzoa or maybe something like Pia's Revolution with conditional return not to mention all the other bounce effects that you would typically find in tempo that 'could' target your own board).

I just want to make sure of the guidelines. This is generally one of my least favorite 'builds' so I'll wait to hear the outline before deciding if I produce some jank.

It should be straight return effects. Tbh i have no idea how many different decks we will see, maybe there will be some tempo decks and some more grindy, but i decided for this theme this week since many people liked it.
As for last week it could be only a subtheme for your deck, i think at least 8-9 cards should be inherent to the theme and most of the others will be naturally related to those ones. With a theme like revolt it was easy to choose the inherent cards, with flicker idk if there are others apart for Long Road Home, Acrobatic Maneuver, Eldrazi Displacer, Displace, Essence Flux. Maybe i forgot something.
Anyway even if there are not many cards, you can choose any color combination, i can see bant, selesnya, azorius, white-colorless or maybe also WUX.
Also if you have a different card and you are not sure if you can consider it as flicker pertinent, you can PM me the decklist with a reason about that card and it could be fine.

Edit: Also Wispweaver Angel, thx maggit.
