I highly disagree Barney and the facts speak for themselves. The top 8 of both showdown was just variations of 3 different decks (red white vehicles, creatureless control and madness burn). Every deck of the afterparties was different. Also oddball decks like rise from the tides or geistramp are only viable with sideboards( and an awesome counter to superfriends). You just didnt like it that superfriends won with sb. Not to mention playing with them was a less infuriating experience, with games not being decided solely by favourable/unfavourable matchups

Just bring your sideboards to the after party. I imagine Superfriends will take that again

In Ksladesh the main tournament saw a great variety of decks and the after party was stale AF

I chuckled at calling the Kaladesh meta "a great variety of decks"

BR Aggro or RW Aggro? SO MANY OPTIONS OMG

When in doubt, pull out the Vehicles.

So......I am guessing that with all the agro, there will be a sizable amount of people that try to beat the Meta and go creatureless control? (myself included)

For me, I am down to Grixis Control or Bant. Not really confident in either one. I think Grixis will do a bit better in a agro heavy meta, but Bant is more fun.

Decisions, Decisions.

*Winter proceedes to bring RDW*

I'm locked in on midrange without smuggles copter just to destroy Joly emotionally if i somehow do well (previous record doesn't support this haha)

The funny thing is that RDW would probably be my fallback deck. :P

Still, think I will stick w/ one of those two because it is slightly different then what I have seen. I DID play (and lose) three near mirror matches vs Grixis control that was a bit more counter heavy and I was not running visions in that build. Realized I built a bit too heavy vs agro. Anyway, the funniest/most annoying thing in the match up was....We both have a Walker out. First Intimations kill one walker. Next turn, other player plays his Intimation, gets back his walker and kills first players walker. A few turns later and First player plays 2nd Intimations and kill the walker that just came back and gets his walker back..... I think that happened in 2 of our games.

Bant is much more fun, but has some issues w/ Snake.....and I don't think you can play a deck that has issues w/ Snake.

I'm sorry it won't echo the current Standard meta:

Standard

428 players - 28/01/17
1
CopyCat
Dylan Donegan

2
CopyCat
Jeffrey Ashkin

3-4 CopyCat
Brad Sheppard

Sounds fun!

Sounds like a ban is on the horizon.

Pretty much if the pro tour is any indication. I'm guessing it's gotta be the Guardian.

Any Last minute predictions?

I made a key metagame call that will make or break my deck choice. I won't say too much now, but will share my thoughts later, seeing as we should all go blind into round 1.
I will say that I am not representing mono-red this time. :(

I predict Snake mid-range will make a strong showing.
Boros/rakdos Vehicles will probably be popular.
A couple of superfriends variants.
Control will have a few followers, probably of the grixis/esper/izzet variety.
RG energy might make some showings.
And someone will go for Dimir/izzet artifacts.
A tutelage deck or 2.
And a couple of rogue or combo decks.

So I'd guess 40% aggro, 30% mid-range, 30% control. Let's see how far I am from the real numbers.
