Rereading this, I have to say that I really enjoy this battle scene. I remember creating the history of Yorthinandor for this, with only a few dropped hints left over from "The Cruel Finale" with Baracon and the Kahvan Saber. I also really like the concept of the afterlife that is hinted at here, with the Ninety-Nine Valleys of Tarkai (Named before Tarkir existed, for the record). At one point in development of this, I had considered doing an epigraph for each chapter, where I would take an excerpt from a fictional, in-universe work and place it at the beginning of the chapter. I was going to write part of an epic poem featuring the Ninety-Nine Valleys, but I ended up dropping the idea before I wrote any of it.
