I am willing to bet the farm that these decks will be no better than tier 2.5.. bc these cards suck. The only way it gets decent is if revolt is a subtheme and not the total focus.. like a good stuff deck with some revolt.

Well this is the trial week, so i took something new that could be interesting for people to test it since it uses new cards. We can choose competitive decks in ladder in the next weeks, when the meta has a more defined shape.
About the theme, i think it could also be only a subtheme so that the deckbuilders have more freedom. Let's make an example, it could be a crats deck as main theme, but revolt should be a subtheme and not only a couple cards in the deck. I think let's try this way for the first week and we can see if the rules should be changed for the next weeks.

I love Yahenni's Expertise... in midrange. I've found recently while running my Esper deck that I'm just not getting the value out of it. Hence Languish. I'm also running Radiant Flames over Baral's - I don't want to run Impulse when red is just a splash or rely on :b::b: for removal (especially with 25 lands), so I'm favouring an early sweeper: from my limited testing it's been really good.

I've also adjusted the counter ratio a little. Better legs in the late game and a tad more value out of Baral.

Not really played with it a whole bunch, so no doubt I'm wrong, but for whatever it's worth I went 4-1.

I tried to build a Bant Flicker deck that sought to exploit Rallier and the Harpooner.

It was much worse than my previous version. It became way overstuffed. Back to the drawing board.

Here's my first draft of Abzan Revolt, pending revisions with more playtesting. Only a few games testing so far to check basic concept

We already have 2 competitors, that's nice. I would post my decklist too, but i will wait the last day and i won't do it if there are too many decklists. Idk how many decklists about the same theme people can properly test in a week.

Testing this trash deck of mine has dropped me from 40 to 36 and it's infuriating.

Yeah, revolt is pretty bad... in general. I've never liked it. If it triggered every turn, probably decent, but only on your turn is yet another major downfall of the concept. For example, all 3 enchantments might have been decent without the on your turn clause... /lame.

But I don't think it HAS to be a terrible deck.

Honestly, the biggest issue is that we've insisted on a 3-color deck, and revolt is fairly aggressive in nature.

Nice. Man greenbelt is like the everything card for duels, lol. I'm starting to wonder if Fel underrated him.

Good call. May want a Cub or Glint-Sleeve to profitability keep the energy bank dry for eternal Dumbo abuse. Tho I suppose Hubs can do similar at less additional profit in your current build by floating colored mana.

@DJ - can't recall what Fel rated it, but I know I under valued it myself, primarily seeing it as a :g: 3/4 that sticks T3. Shamefully glossed over its utility...

He rated it a 4, so basically I'm wondering if it's a META defining card.

I didn't want to include many creatures that ETB with less than 3 power. It's all about combo'ing off, which you can do with lots of different creatures, like Rallier into Liberator, draw 2, etc

Nice, your deck is similar in some respects to what I have been brewing. We both love elemental bond. My submission wont be ready for a little while as work has me busy for the next 6 days but I'm looking forward to playing and submitting one.

Call for Unity + Hidden Stockpile + From Beyond.

Do I win?

elk

p.s. Haven't read the whole thread but I agree with what someone said on focused themes. It'll end up limiting decks. I'm sure someone has said it after the fact, so I agree with the post discussing it being 'involved' to give it the best chance of success vs. the focus. I could see a Nantuko Husk based sac deck that included revolt. Just hard to focus directly on it only.

p.p.s. What happened to Zerris? I'd be interested in his submissions. Same for CGB (and back in the day, Hakeem + Mobius).

Here's an idea :

Build the BEST deck in Duels, that actually WANTS to be on the draw.

Inspiration : yesterday I had to play 23 consecutive games on the draw. twenty-three. That's right. That has a probability of occurence of 1 in 8388608. I'm rank 37 now :(
