Game 1: Esper > Abzan Midrange (We both sat there until Esper won)
Game 2: Orzhov Allies = Bant Tempo (We elected to call it a draw, because Barney's internet went out. He was thoroughly ahead)
Game 3: Grixis Slugs > Rakdos Vamps (I had two timely sweepers and some burn. Deep-Fried Elder sealed the game)
Game 4: Tamiyo's Spirits < Bant Something (I guess it was different than the previous Bant Tempo? I dunno, some of my decks look alike when you only see 10 cards. He slammed Tracker and Spell Queller. Sucks going second.)
Game 5: Bant Tempo = Superfriends (Another disconnect, this time we were very close. He slammed Gideon after disconnecting, but I had a Krasis coming down that turn and then holding up Avacyn behind it. Would've been fun to finish.)
Game 6: Selesnya Humans > GeistRamp (I slammed some bodies and turned them sideways. He mulled to 5.)



All great competitive games, except for the last one, where apparently Barney decided that he wanted me to win, and just threw the game by playing GeistRamp. Arguably the worst deck I've ever seen. It's a joke that the deciding game of KOTH turned on him running such a trash deck, but I guess he ran out of options.

Guess I am better than everyone else on this forum combined. I mean, I already knew that, but this is definitive proof.

Man did I ever get frustrated cuz of the connection. I've played in a few tournaments here and an entire season or two of KOTH and never once in all the streaming did I have the issues I had tonight. Twitch said to wire my connection (instead of wireless) and that's what I did and i think that's what caused the issues. I unplugged the wired connection and didn't have problems after that. I was tilting so hard from drawing that 2nd match that I was ahead, that I for some reason decided to play Hakeem's vamps instead of Lionberry's Abzan (which I had practiced a ton with).

Yeah, the two bant decks were different. one is Sjokwave's Bant and the other is Gemini's. One is tempo and the other is more midrange. I made a bunch of personal changes to Gemini's deck which I think i'll tweak back to how Gem intended the build to be played. I don't know why i made those tweaks in the end but it was my only win of the night.

i won't bother uploading the videos to Youtube cuz Twitch already chopped it into 5 different pieces so it's going to be a huge mess. Plus at one point I was tilting real bad and Vert countered two of my spells in the same turn and I think i called him a f-bomb or something.

It'll look like the curse words are directed at you but they're really me just not tolerating playing against control

Two highlights from last night for me where in game seven at the beginning Gem was nice to bless luck upon me from the RNG gods and then I immediately had to mull to five. Poor Barney

The other, for me, was that I was really thankful that my two disconnects were not in games where I was behind. That would have been even more frustrating and embarrassing. Instead, they were obviously disconnects and I was really thankful for that, cuz Vert isn't seeing my end and who knows how it would look. In the end I think the most important match was when I played Jolys super friends. That game was so close and I think if we had played it to completion it would have determined the winner.

I'm also thankful at the end of the day, we have a clear non-asterix;d season overlord. And that's largely thanks to Vert calling draws

Don't you already have a tourney win? I was getting sick of the Bridesmaid treatment (2nd in back-to-back tourneys), so it's good to have won BOTH King of the Hill seasons.

oh right, i won that first one with the big cash prize. I spent some of it on Resident Evil 4. and now i'm basically being reimbursed for that purchase with the prize from KOTH.

Hope that the three of us have another intense season of competition for the hill again! Sounds like Gem will be Vert's first challenger.
