So another thing I thought of...I would like a "preview" of the thread when I hover over the title. Usually this is the first few sentences in the OP. This is not a major ordeal, but is kind of nice and helps me make a quicker decision on whether or not a post is "worth my time". Some titles on some posts can be strange or misleading (or just simply confusing for me on my end) and it is nice to get an idea of what it might actually entail before I jump right in. Just a small request of small importance!

This is a good idea and is very doable. I've found a mod to do this that looks very well-done; still need to look more closely at it before installing but it is promising.

I can understand your request, but I find personally that it wouldn't help any -- the crowd I hang around make it a point of pride when conversation steers from "What happened in Teeth of Akoum" to "These are the best Magic novels: look for them". What I'm saying is, I would not benefit from such a feature.

I will make sure there is a way to turn off the previews. :)

You guys are excellent to the nth degree.

Also, I was wondering if there's a way to view polls while using the full-post-writer (as opposed to quick reply)? Not necessarily vote on it from the posting window, just to view the poll (whichever option is easier, really). I just came across the situation where I wanted to comment on the poll options and found I could not remember what they were.

Not a necessity, but like viewing threads while editing, it would add a level of functionality that I would appreciate. Thanks.

I don't believe this is possible with the current set up, but it might be doable at some point.

Is there way to see the collective post count of the top 5, 10, 20 posters?

I can't help but feel that 80% of the posting comes from a collective 10-15 people.

I can't imagine that they would be intrusive enough to the point where it's an actual problem.

Intrusive? Surely not; I was just saying that such a feature would not give me anything of value. Most threads where I hang out try to make their titles as self-explanatory as possible (the reason for the large number of [tagged] threads in the M:EM), and with the way we keep drift strong, it kind doesn't matter what the OP says (see also: Barinellos is hell on threadsTM).

Would it be possible to allow more than one polll per post/thread?
I also had some other really good idea too, but I forgot it. I just want you to know it was really really good.
Could standard magic terms, card names, D&D stuff be added to the spellchecker as real words? Probably not worth doing a massive overhaul, but we could collect a list of words by submission and update whenever the list starts to get a bit long.

I thought that was determined mostly by cookies and such, and thus more determined by individuals' computers. If not, then might I suggest:
  1. Right-click the offending word.
  2. Select "Add to dictionary."
  3. ???
  4. Profit!
(actually that method should work regardless of whether it's a global or individual spellchecker)

Certainly not. I just meant that putting any effort into being able to turn it off doesn't necessarily amount to much. The feature will get used by those who wants it, but it won't be in the way of anyone who doesn't.

Oh, well, I see your point there. I never actually said that I wanted an option to turn it off, though. :P

Hey, would it be too much trouble to ask that when using the login button, you don't end up on the front page? Please and thank you.

Added the topic previews. Hover over a topic title for a second and it will show you the beginning of the first post.

You can turn it off in the user control panel. Under "Board Preferences", choose "Edit display options" and set "Display topic previews" to "no".

Spell-checking is done by your computer, not the forum software. Try adding the words to whatever dictionary Firefox/Chrome/Safari/IE uses, as Lord LunaEquie is me suggested.

Thanks much. Also, you can just call me Luna if you'd like; that's what seems to have caught on.

Could you make sblock synonymous with spoiler?
Additionally, any opinions on being able to spoiler text by adding black background and hoverover to read text?

Ooh, since "spoiler" is taken, we could have the code for that be "Redact".

Touche :duel:

I would actually like to second the sblock thing; I've had to correct myself several times because I can type sblock faster and more reliably than spoiler, so I have ended up using it by accident a fer times here.

I would have suggested something more mundane myself, like hide.
Spoiler

I've seen some forums do the redact/hide text simply by having the text and background both be black, and if you highlight it with your mouse it becomes readable. That is 99.99% certain to be possible, since it's just style stuff.

The mouse-over should also be possible, I would think, but I'll leave it for Welder to say for sure. ;)
