A thousand years ago, the Dual-Walkers, Syl and Chardis, host the Amphiseum Games, and watch a Zombie Phoenix battle a mysterious Hydra.

That is an impressive bit of necromancy, to zombify a phoenix.

Incidentally, this post reminds me very indirectly of the song "Two Princes..."

The paths of fate have converged and Zhiran apparently seemingly suffers from delirious hallucinations at the hands of Raiker Venn, but secretly is working to oppose Morgezka Shanak but is secretly being manipulated by Lady Nasina because of the machinations of Antine.

This is one of the more ridiculous prompts I've ever read...

Kahr-ret-Taris attempts to explain philosophy to Jade, but it goes poorly.

I don't think this alternate version of The War of the Wheel makes much sense...

In the dark of the night, The Duchess is woken by a Soltari! The Soltari explains that she has been chosen to become the last defender of Ikass and using the magic of The Last of All, she can become the hero known as Magical Girl The Duchess! Now the pair must keep Evil Sovereign Donagut from getting their hands on The Coin of Eirene and enacting their dastardly plan!

Really? Beryl is the one you're worried about?

Also, The Laughing Lhurgoyf is an awesome tavern name, and I may have to find a story to use that in.

I had a card contest for that once.
It was inspired by Duels of the Planswalkers, the Planechase edition, in which I dropped a phoenix at the Onakke Catacombs and it looked metal as hell.

Zhiran wanders drunkenly into the first sphere of Phyrexia.

I'm guessing this is set in the past, but still, an interesting idea.

Donagut is investigating the theft of a fortune in gold on Cyrea and his suspects include Sava Pith, Mari Gwynn, Aria, and Morgezka Shanak. To his surprise, all the facts point to... Sava Pith!

Sava, just because the voice in your head tells you it's okay to plunder doesn't make it so.

Penelophine has a meeting with an ancient Hellion on Ashkanar-That-Was, after a duel between Huinn, Last of the Darkwings and Morgezka Shanak left them stranded there.

Ever wonder where Penelophine disappeared to in Chapter 35? Well, it turns out that the battle between Morgezka and Huinn somehow opened up a reality rift that swallowed the Siren and transported her to Ashkanar, where she had to meet with an ancient Hellion planeswalker, and the two had to set reality right again. Maybe I'll put that whole side story in the deleted scenes some day...

Not completely related, but now I'm imagining a relationship between Cara Holis and Orida Vise.

I'd be very interested in a comprehensive interpretation of similar articulate readings. The Snake and the inverted Manacles sound bad, though not as ominous as the Gravestone as a destination :takei:

I've actually thought about approaching Barinellos about having Cara be a sort of mentor to Orida, what with the ability overlap. I'm not saying it won't happen, but Cara is not really the mentoring type, I don't think, and Orida is certainly not the pupil type.

Maybe The Gravestone is like Death in our tarot, more about change than actual ill-omen. And anyway, it can't be as bad as the Happy Squirrel card. :shudder:

Ah, yes. The smirk/cringe. The "smringe," as nobody calls it. Just one of my many gifts to the world.

Less about change, I'd think, then about ancestors or legacy. We're not focused on the event itself in this case, but on what gets left behind.

Alternatively, a time of rest after activity is complete. Or more concretely, a place where someone has literally been buried.

Yeah, that makes sense, and of course, the meaning can change somewhat based on the pattern of the reading and the other cards that appear in conjunction with it.

But of course, that is one of the main reasons I don't particularly want to codify the meanings of the cards any more than I have to. I like that they're open to interpretation and interaction.

Can I say I entirely support both non-codified and metaphorical meanings? After all, I used the Fish to represent Illarion's demise (and subsequent 'viking' funeral), which was in some ways very literal and in others very not, and certainly not on any standard list I'm sure.

Yeah, Cara isn't exactly a mentor, more... a drill sergeant.
I'm not against the idea, because Cara does need more socialization, a fact she's profoundly aware of, but consequentially, her social graces are understandably... not. She has none, basically.

On the flip side, it would be fascinating to see Orida's response to Cara's blood knight side.

Denner Fabellian wants to learn about economics, and so must grudgingly accept the help of Aloise Hartley. However, Aloise is suffering from delirious hallucinations, and will only help Denner if he goes to Theros to see A Timmerian fiend about a cure. a Timmerian fiend knows about the cure, but will only give it to Denner if he can locate The Coin of Eirene. Denner searches for it on Keter, but only finds a pest. At this point, Denner gives up on this side quest.

Denner: "I just wanted to know what the local exchange rate was..."

Nasperge does an Aubedore reading for Raiker Venn in the "Crossroads" pattern.

For the corners, he draws the Thief (inverted), the Woods (inverted), the Baroness, and the Griffin.

For the spokes, he draws the Wolf, the Servant, the Manacles, and the Rope.

At the Crossroads, he lays the Angel vertically as the destination, under the fate card of the Library, which is horizontal.

Raiker Venn is visibly shaken by the reading.

Evidently, if I'm reading this correctly, The Duchess did not approve of Raiker tampering with the affairs of the Infinite Library.

Things have gone poorly, and it seems to be Kahr-ret-Taris's darkest hour. But then, suddenly and out of nowhere, Kimberley Talon arrives! She comforts Kahr, and things start to seem better for him. Together, Kahr and Kimberley head off to explore Thorneau.

We've talked about how interesting it might be for Kahr to meet up with Jinsen. It would be pretty interesting for him to meet up with Kimberley, too, and makes me wonder why The Lotus isn't around.

Faskeria is under attack! Syl of the Dual-Walkers must gather allies such as Nasperge before it's too late, but Syl is hampered when she joins forces with Lukas Harran.

Lukas: "Remember me?"
Syl: "No. Wait...oh. Oh, dear. Listen, everyone, do not listen to this man. He is insane. And there is certainly no reason to go checking up on any of the planes he will claim I destroyed..."

It’s an interplanar game of Tag! Sundar Elarion tags Larasa Farleth on Cyrea, who tags Nasperge on the miniature plane Segovia, who tags Dorn on Regatha. Dorn attempts to tag Aloise Hartley on Zent, but Aloise narrowly escapes! Now Dorn tries to tag Nasperge again, but Nasperge calls “No Getsies Backsies”.

Dorn: ~sigh~ "See, this is why I hate humans..."
Aloise: "I'm sorry. It's just, you were trying to tag us with your horn and all..."

A thousand years ago, the Dual-Walkers, Syl and Chardis, host the Amphiseum Games, and watch a planeswalker battle a confused Sheep Archer.

I just picture someone actually picking up a sheep and launching it with an oversized longbow.

Aria has grown suspicious of Beryl, the Heart-Scarred and follows the other 'walker to Dammerdall. Then things get complicated as she is attacked by Nasperge, Alar, Lia Xin, and a Frog Coward.

Of course, the Frog Coward would only attack if an old fortune teller, a young girl, and a mute woman attack, too. The rest of this prompt makes perfect sense, though.

It’s an interplanar game of Tag! Rimarra tags Lia Xin on Aldis, who tags Ygraine of Segovia on the rogue plane Shandalar, who tags Donagut on The Celestial Realm. Donagut attempts to tag Kahr-ret-Taris on The Wheel, but Kahr narrowly escapes! Now Donagut is frustrated and bored…and cranky.

They have been working him like a dog lately.

Beryl, the Heart-Scarred goes sight-seeing on Zhiran's Academy.

I didn't realize that was a tourist destination, but this could be interesting.

Mari Gwynn finds herself captured by a very strange army comprised of Blinkmoths, Snake Scouts, Skeleton Homarids, and even Efreet Artificers.

Skeleton Homarids? I mean, I'm no expert on marine biology, but...

The multiverse has it out for Beryl, as she is trampled while attending a ritualistic stampede. Poor Beryl now has to find Huinn, Last of the Darkwings to appeal to his good nature.

The Generator is up to its old tricks again...

The Multiversal Prom is coming up on Ihn Gallad! But Rishima, Queen of the Black Sands doesn't have a date! Now Rishima is desperate to find someone to go with her! Rishima is resigned to being alone at the Prom. Is there really no Planeswalker in the multiverse who'll go with Rishima? Things get more complicated when Prom Queen Rishima Insists on taking center stage allowng no one else to have any fun until she feels properly appreciated! It's up to Rishima to show her up!

So...she's the prom queen, but can't find a date, and doesn't want anyone else to have any fun, so she has to show herself up? It's amazing how many proms this sort of thing happens at.

Illarion Vale crash lands upon Helkavin. There, he trades information with a demon of the Xordikrast and later offers to take his new companion to see the multiverse

It's eerie, but this is almost exactly what happened...

Orida Vise attempts to explain where she last saw The Hands of Light and Shadow to Raiker Venn.

Orida: "Oh, yeah, those. Yeah, I remember where I saw those. Let me think. Oh, right, I last saw those when I shoved them up the *** of the last guy who asked me!"

Usually you only see that sort of thing with dragon skeet shooting...

It's called an exoskeleton for a reason!

Oh if you think that's bad, you did NOT want to be at her sweet 1600.

I don't think that's how you're supposed to wear them...
