Shocked more people don't run the Water Hag. It is amazing.

Eh, lost two in a row to monster weather. Time to change decks?

When I win I often win so handily I don't even need to play Philippa
Spoiler

Weather decks are somewhat harder though, especially with Sarah: Philippa can destroy the stacked melee row, but there's also a buffed sarah and always foglets.
Should I try Skellige weather immunity? That deck is so not Johnny though

I wish I had this: http://gwentify.com/cards/borkh-three-jackdaws/
Might bring the golden NR to another level

I dunno, I think I still like my deck's chances with Lacerates and Draug to keep you from going off one of the two turns and then just win with good ole Attrition.

You'd need to combo out and then wait 3 turns just for some sort of 1-turn blowout? Doesn't seem like it helps the deck enough.

I'd actually often want to play him before comboing out, I don't often have a lot of high power non-golden creatures anyway: max power is 6 from Margarita or 9 from 3 blue stripes commandos who I am actually looking to goldenize most of the time anyway.

The great thing about this card is that it counters the popular NR trebuchet strategy that leaves 2 high strength trebuchet, but one of them is 1 strength less than the other and thus immune to scorch. This guy gets around that, Geralt:Igni doesn't.

Then there's also the high and different power monster creatures: Sarah, Ice Giant, Ancient Foglet, maybe even Ereden and Geralt if I can demote them with Dijsktra just before the dragon goes off.

Anyway, I'm still probably going to craft Geralt:Igni but in theory and in this deck in particular Bork would've worked I think.

You have the benefit of knowing my full strategy though, which isn't popular and completely unknown to random ladder opponents. They often prematurely waste lacerate against me as well.

None of the monster decks I played used Draug, it seems like it would be a pretty nice counter. Some used Stammelford's tremmors, but they don't work against goldens so they don't achieve enough.

I'm trying out the medic package again, -3 Scouts + 3 Medics, and -3 Elites + 3 DB Cavalry (since there's now no guarantee of 3 elites)
Another blowout screenie:
Spoiler

This way the deck seems to win even harder if I have a decent hand, which I was lucky to get a few times so far. If I don't though I suspect it will just roll over even harder. I was just disappointed with how dead the scouts feel when I do actually get a decent hand with Reinforcements and Ves, maybe I don't need them after all.

So the internet taught me that Dimeritium Bomb resets debuffs made by weather. Teching in a Clear Skies for that matchup felt horrible in every other matchup, but D-Bomb is good against Skellige and other NR decks that outbuff me. In my second match against Monsters after putting it in, I creamed him in the second round finishing D-Bomb into Dandelion and Commander's Horn. Fun times.

Speaking of Dandelion, I opened him and crafted both Priscilla and Shani to play around with those guys as well.

There is a weird interaction with Dimeretium bomb, in that if you buff a unit then promote it to gold, it's base strength becomes the one at the time of promotion. So if you demote it again and use dimeretium bomb, it doesn't actually reduce the strength of the unit.

I wish this was documented somewhere.

On another note, I just played against a guy running Roach/Olgierd + Buffs + Promote combo to spam 9 strength golden roaches every round. Also was running the Radovid+Sabrina combo. Looks pretty fun. I opened Bloody Baron so that's almost all the Nothern Realms legends now, maybe I should craft Radovid instead of the other Geralt...

I actually got my invite 2 hours after I bought a key from an online reseller for £3. Just my luck. I'll pm it to you, enjoy the game.

What's the point of Earth Elemental in your deck? Isn't there better silver stuff to put in, like Sarah, some double-weather or aeromancy, or even scorch?

Scorch is way too inconsistent, especially when I'm looking to go big. With Dagan as my leader and all the weather creatures, I think I am solid there, too. Really, he's just there as 10 big dumb points of power, because that Sarah is tempting, but needs to be played early and then followed by weathers. It'd need 2 weather to be played to pass the elementals efficiency

Is it just me or are Monsters the strongest faction as of right now? Without Clear Weather in your deck and hand you are essentially just doomed to lose once they make two thirds or more of your rows irrelevant.

Northern Realms is good too. I don't think I've lost a single game to Skellige or Scoiatel

How about switching the leader then? Dagon is just an Aeromancy that's always in hand, is it really better than a 10 Strength Gold unit that's always in hand?

I feel like Skellige has a good deck somewhere but most of my opponents where playing just some random mix of Skellige cards. Maybe when Harald the Cripple's ability gets fixed and he actually destroys wounded Gold units: Yennefer + Harald = -4 to the whole opponent's board, might be good.
There's also a point to be made that a weather counter deck can be built from skellige cards or even their own weather control, maybe?
Scoi'tael just seem to be missing some of their cards at the moment that are hopefully added soon. If you look at the collection manager ST have the lowest number of faction cards.

Meanwhile, I'm continuing my attempts to justify crafting Henselt. I started losing a lot more so I changed the deck significantly. Won the last two games easily without drawing Margarita so it must be working.

Decklist:
Spoiler

I didn't expect the Siege Towers to be so good with Henselt's ability. I guess I'm bad at math.
Initially tested ballistas but they were much more underwhelming. No more thunderbolts and promotes in the deck either. Basically moving away from one huge combo to a lot of smaller synergies.

Ves + Redanian Elite + Reinforcement = 61 strength (!). Good first round opening. If don't have Ves, Redanian Elites + Siege Towers. First round should be in the bag.
Second round revive all the Commandos and/or Towers. Play all the cards, goldenize the biggest row.
(And don't put Adrenaline Rush in your deck)
Image

Now, weather monsters are still annoying me. Someone who's a better deck builder help me theorycraft a Skellige Weather Immune deck or something?

The always in hand aeromancy is huge and worth way more than Eredin or Geels. I just wish there was one more good WH silver option but there isn't yet

Yeah, they can get some pretty absurdly big armies out there. Also, those trebuchets ... *shudder*

One other boon of playing Monsters I discovered: When winning the first round you are even more okay to concede early in the 2nd one because if you play, say, Geralt and maybe some removal then you will get to keep it for the final round thanks to the faction trait.

Something interesting I learned from the Gwent discord: there is currently NO shuffling when you mulligan cards. It appears that the cards you mulligan are put on the bottom of your deck and will stay there, so you won't draw them in the game unless you go through your whole deck. I don't know if it will be changed but currently it opens up some interesting possibilities for tech choices that you can fully get rid of in unwanted matchups and is also important for cards that summon others from the deck like in the deck I'm playing.

1 more strength than the elemental and it's immediate
