Figured I'd open a subforum to allow our Gwent enthusiasts to bore each other to tears.

I'm not checking this sub-forum ever again.

Enjoy!

Back to the point I was making in the other thread, Elves and Skellige are hamstrung by the fact their abilities are junk. Especially the elves, because their leader ability is meh, too. You'd likely need a ton of unlocked cards to be competitive.

I don't think the Skellige ability is junk at all, but I agree about Scoia'Tael. Especially about Francesca.

scoia'tael is easily the strongest aggro deck in the game, so there is that at least. moral of the story? always pack Dimeritium Bomb

I guess the Skellige ability is alright, but it's very slow and more easy to manipulate with things like weather.

I think the whole idea behind Skellige is to set up your graveyard in round one and then just out-value your opponent from there. You actively want to go to round three. The Shieldsmith buffs the Axeman in a way that no other faction can match because it actually changes the "original" power, which is something I think they need to work on from a text perspective. It's not clear that the buff persists as I read it, but I know that it does because it always beats me.

Also, **** Priestess of Freya. And Clan Henkjdnkdfnkdjfnd Skald. Or whatever it's called. Especially when they chain Priestesses and finish with skjdfksjdnfskjnfksd. Screw sjdbfsdhbfjshbfsd.

I'm not sure I've ever lost to Skellige. The Priestesses or okay, but you NEED Ermion and Gremist to really be competent.

Even in the game you lost on Youtube, you just remember that you won Round 1 and auto-pass Round 2 and you overcome 30 points of deficit you tried to make up and you win going away. Skellige just isn't that strong. I think the best strategy is a self-bleeding deck to make the one unit that benefits from that get huge, but I just don't think there is enough there to overcome the pure force of things like NR or Monsters. Maybe after release.

Right now, I'm on the "You Shall not Pass!" plan and going all-in right from the start. I think what I'm playing right now constitutes an "aggro" deck because I basically never pass the turn and I combo off if my opponent does.

Since my video yesterday, I've opened four card kegs and I managed to grab the second copy of both Reinforced Trebuchet and Reaver Hunter. I hate to spend scraps on rares given the game's economy, but only having to craft one of each made me break down and do it. Now my deck has the full playset of each and I've cut all the situational interactive cards. I'm all-in, after all, and you shall not pass!

I also talked about Adrenaline Rush in my video (should have added the second copy) so I crafted the third and now I play all three. All-in, baby.

Sorry for the triple-post, but I've posted my deck here so you can see Gwentify in action. Really cool website, give them your support.

Don't you still just blown tf out if anyone ever plays a Weather effect?

The "after they pass" Promote play is like the big thing that holds this combo deck together imo

I call this deck "Margarita the Brood Mother"
Image

Too bad I actually forgot it wasn't the final round and went all in so I promtly lost right after. Usually works though.

EDIT: this is better

How consistently do you go off?
What is your win rate?
What is your decklist?
What are the combo pieces and how many cards does it take you to combo off?

I do generally lose to weather, but I can still pound them with my Trebuchets because rain is very uncommon. I'm not sure what deck I'm working towards, but I like this for grinding ore and scraps right now. At the end of the day, it's quick and easy to concede to a weather deck if I know I've got no chance. I am seeing a lot loss monsters lately and more NR/Skellige.

My main problem has been the Witchers, honestly, they really affect the mulligan phase a lot and they're the reason I'm only running a single Field Medic - getting back a vanilla 6-7 power guy just isn't that exciting. I've played against Priscilla, Dandelion, and Shani enough to know that they're pretty powerful, so those are definitely on my radar but I'm not spending scraps anymore until either this deck starts losing too much or I actually sit down and plan out a deck that I can work towards. I'm not entirely sure I want to play NR as a "main" faction, either, but it has been good for grinding. Skellige interests me the most, I think, and I have opened Birna Bran and Svanrige so far, both of which seem good to me at first glance.

It looks like he's comboing off with Margarita Laux-Antille because those are the tokens on the Siege Row. How he's getting that many triggers, though, I don't know. I guess you have to use at least four Gold cards in the deck, Dun Banner Heavy Cavalry, maybe Redanian Elite plus Reinforcement, then chain Promotes on the tokens so they spawn like mad?

WR is 80% so far, although I often play against obvious newcomers who don't have a lot of cards so this number doesn't mean much.
Although, I do think I have good matchups against the current "meta" decks: monster weather is largely countered by goldening + I'm running a dimertium bomb mostly for the matchup, rain is also the less common weather effect at the moment. NR trebuchet/medic spam is countered by D-bomb and my numbers are often simply higher, Skellige can't keep up with numbers at all (as long as I go for 2-0). I'm also running Philippa who counters a lot of the current strategies regardless of faction, while the good thing about my deck is that it's not very vulnerable to Philippa: power is spread between 2 rows (melee and siege) while the siege row's power is more in the number of units than in their strengths, so even when reduced by Philippa it's still not often enough for the opponent.

Quote:
What is your decklist?

Decklist:
3xReaver Scout
3xRedanian Elite
3xReinforced Trebuchet
3xBlue Stripes Commando
2xPromote
Margarita Laux-Antille
Ves
Thunderbolt Potion
Reinforcement
Prince Stennis
Priscilla
Dimeritium Bomb
Dijsktra
Shani
Geralt (looking to replace with Geralt:Igni)
Philippa Eilhart

Leader Henselt obviously.

Quote:
How consistently do you go off?

Pretty consistent to be honest, I run a lot of filtering to draw into the combo: Scouts, Priscilla, Reinforcement, and there is a lot of synergy and pure value so it's possible to win without ever seeing Margarita.
The strategy is to mulligan away double bronze units (except Reaver Scout) and all Blue Stripes Commandos (keep Ves). Reaver Scouts I leave 2 of, that way they can combo with one trebuchet or one redanian elite for the full package.
I mostly go for 2-0. The first round win with value, usually Trebuchet + Reinforcement or Reaver Scouts. Winning the first round is very important, If they go all in, a good strategy is Ves + 3 Trebuchet + Promote or Ves + 3 Redanian Elite for getting all the blue stripes out into the field.
Second round is the bigger combo round. Ideal is (as shown on the screenshots):
Margarita + Shani + 3xRedanian Elite + promoting some scouts or commandos = a lot of ban ard adepts. Can promote them for another batch as well. Basically, use all the goldifying except the hero ability. Then Play Dijsktra and play the hero abilitiy on the once again not-golden varied siege row of adepts, elites, trebuchets and what have you for another dozen adepts. Then thunderbolt them.
After reinforcing and filtering in the first round you have a pretty good chance of having margarita either by drawing into her, keeping her in the mulligan or getting her out via Priscila (that's also why I often save Priscila for second round). There are a lot of raw numbers even without margarita though, and Philippa wins games by herself.

It's annoying when Margarita or one of the Elites gets azure thunder'd though but it's less likely in the second round. Everyone wastes removal on trebuchet that you want to play early anyway to maximize their timer effect. Then you also have Shani if you combo gets interrupted, once you have golden Margarita from Shani there's very little the opponent can do to interact (although you do lose 2 adepts from Shani that way). Can also add Nenneke if there is more removal around.

I tried running the bronze medics but came to the conclusion they don't fit. I need to thin my deck, not the graveyard, hence the Reaver Scouts.
Dun Banner Heavy Cavalry I just don't see much value in.

EDIT: fixed the decklist
