You need to tick the 'include planes and schemes' tickbox.

I think Valkir is a bit wrong on this subject. While there is always a couple top decks, I think the degree matters. Fast mana drastically raises the power level of what you can do in the format, as demonstrated by the fact that BOTH cards just got unbanned and immediately won rounds. I think depletion lands are fast enough to allow some of the powerful strategies without being quite as bad due to the extra turn it takes. But stuff like double lotus planeswalker is a bit too much.

T1 discard (or equivalent like Meddling Mage) becomes dominant in a meta where people are counting on making their big play later than t1. There's always a new problem child in any meta.

Oh, if people are unsure about the power level of this round: there exist decks that cannot be submitted because they break the win-on-T1 rule.

A 3cm rules question: there are some matchups (Vraska against Vraska, for example) where whoever goes first loses the game, so the best game strategy is to do nothing, resulting in a draw. However, the best match strategy is for each player to lose a game (3 points each, as opposed to 2 points each). So, how should we mark those? Maybe we should add a rule that if you can do something, you cannot pass the turn doing nothing?

Gameplay decisions are made with the goal of getting as many points as possible in the current game. Otherwise, every 2-2 would be replaced with a 3-3.

Side note: I've actually heard that in some 3CM groups, they do count 2-2 draws as 3-3, but I personally like giving a slight bonus to decks that can actually win a game.

I've only seen the opposite. At MTGS, a drawn match awards 2 points, whether it was a 2-2 stalemate or a 3-3 roshambo.

Just adding my :two: : Just because the apparent-best match strategy is to go for the 3-3 doesn't mean it's the best match strategy. In the given example of Vraska v Vraska, whoever plays their Vraska first loses the game (the other person plays their Vraska and destroys the first player's Vraska before casually ramping up to tokens). So while, in a scenario where players get to use their own volition when determining outcomes, you might not have any qualm with giving your opponent the win so you can try for a win yourself, you're assuming that your opponent also doesn't mind. What would most likely happen in that situation is you would go 1-4 with your opponent because they'd be unwilling to give you a win like you gave them a win. So in the described situation, 2-2 is still the best match strategy.

I was thinking about pre-agreed I-lose-one-you-lose-one. Like in the last round of pro tour: players agree that they will both make top eight, so it's optimal for them to draw and rest a bit before the top eight (this might change now). Here, players would have to agree that it's optimal for them to go for 3-3 before they played the first game.

I agree with Jim's rationale of giving an edge to decks that can win. Just thought I would ask.

The poll is up! :teach:

I didn't want the last format description to be too long, so I just linked to mark777's post.

Yeck! I did not vote for "But Wait, There's More" because it just sounds monstrous and it has a lot of words...however...I am willing to change my mind if someone can explain it to me barney style. It kinda just feels like "Library of Land" with a wonky rule about the third card...

Edit: Also, did I forget to submit an alt format prize?

"But Wait, There's More" is like normal 3CM, except one of your cards doesn't start in your hand. Instead you get 60 copies of it in your deck. You also get one free land drop each turn and milling works as a win condition.

The additional bans would be: any deck that can mill the opponent within the first 10 turns, Black Lotus, Mishra's Workshop, Treasure Hunt, and possibly some other things.

You haven't used the format submission that you won last season, but my general rule is that you can still use it until the end of the following season. So a format submission awarded in Season 19 can be cashed in anytime before Season 20 ends.

The best choice with dual lotus is Dragon Broodmother since Grave Titan is banned. It wins fastest and is resistant to removal.

Not dual lotus, but Academy Researchers + Eldrazi Conscription is really scary.

It's pretty vulnerable to removal though, I've thought about playing it a few times but usually there are a few removal decks in addition to the classic discard/anti-lotus hate decks.

Valkir, I think I beat you 6-0 in the redux. Once both of my Mayors flip all of my creatures will be 4/4 and you can't steal them anymore. How do you figure you get the 3?
