Yeah, I think it is a mistake when people try to create a 'complete' world rather than a dynamic, adventure hook-filled one. I forget where I read this, but I agree with the advice that worlds should be described with verbs rather than adjectives.

squinty_eyes, as an fyi, most clergy of Teleia would be anti-polyamory and see that loose family structure as an invitation for chaos and internal strife. Remember Teleai's inspiration, Hera, and her endless vendettas against her husband's mistresses. Which is not to say you cannot interpret Teleia's teachings the way you have, but if your character grew up in among those who worship Teleia traditionally, he would probably recognize the unorthodox nature of his beliefs.

Hypatus might be more into a structured polygamous marriage, like monarchs used to have (e.g., the Chinese Emperor would have his wives structured so there is the Empress who is the royal consort, and then the First Wife, and so on). Agrios is all about free love and orgies, and Philomedes doesn't care about the structure of your relationships as long as you are in control.

Unorthodox I'll agree to, but I'm sticking with Teleia.

The reason I believe that his wishes for a polyamorous family work is because he's not looking for multiple wives for the fun of screwing as many women as possible. His goals are to raise a large family where everyone is treated and cared for equally. He'll marry as many women and men as he believes he can care and provide for. He will endeavor to give each of them completely equal time and care, never take favorites and protect each and every one of them as if they were his first wife or husband. There is no structure to the relationships he desires, and he doesn't want to be "in control" of anyone's actions. The loosest structure would be that the children listen to the parents, even the ones who are not biologically their parents, with respect, and that all his spouses are faithful to each other. That's the extent of the structure. He wants a polyamorous family because he wishes for everyone to be included in a happy family, and to feel accepted and supported, and not because of any sexual drives.

Teleia might not approve of his actions, but he chooses her teachings in everything he does in regards to finding and cultivating his future family.

Okay, I'm just telling you that most would not believe Teleia would approve of what you want.

Wait, whats the contradiction?

Between squinty's character's motivation and Teleia's clergy's beliefs?

I was just curious as to where it all started. Perhaps I need to go read his sheet though.

How was everyone's holiday?

I was just commenting on it because that's just background information his character would/should know if it ever became relevant. Once we're ready to start, I'll probably be hitting people up with some questions to fill out the character a little for me and some general information about the world that the character would know that may be useful for building into roleplay. Like, unless your character is a second generation immigrant, i.e., born to a tiefling parent in Hoi Lan Fa, they would know about their home city-state in the League of Ash.

My holiday was pretty chill. I just finished a beautiful PowerPoint for my group.

Anyone get anything good during Black Friday? How about today since it's Cyber Monday?

On the occasions when I do partake in some Cyber Monday shopping it's generally always with Newegg.

Newegg does some decent sales, but lately I've been preferring TigerDirect since it fused with Comp USA. They seem to be doing pretty well for themselves.

The advantage of it being 00:15 when I post. I've got no-where to be!

NGA is blocked at work, so I always get home and have 10+ hours of stuff to catch up on. Bah!

If NGA were blocked at work, what would I do all day? I mean, I can't post this much from my phone...

I get glances here and there via my phone, normally just enough to chime in here or there.

But 80% of the time at work I can even do that. Most of my work not only takes place in a location with signal, but a good chunk of it takes place in spots where phones arent allowed.

And that explains the lack of internet access.
I can honestly say, that sounds like the most interesting job I've ever heard of that contains "inspection" in it.
