So it looks like marchessa has taken reign by using our girl Kaya. The two opposing sides seem to be those loyal to the new queen and those loyal to the idea of a council.

I'm mostly excited to see what Selvala is up to to be honest. Pretty much all card art we've seen so far looks great, too.

Marchesa is now part instead of . Interesting.

Well, she's more out in the open nowadays, as opposed to "merely" running her criminal empire from the shadows. Requires a different (if related) skillset. That plus her vested interest in maintaining the new status quo, and one can see the logic behind the swap from Grixis to Mardu.

Im hoping for a plot twist featuring our other assassin planeswalker coming in and giving Marchesa a stone nap.

Speaking of assassins, Marchesa had a turn of phrase that suggests to me that she's planning to have Adriana killed as well.

Also note that she did not specify "natural" death, or any other phrasing that implies that she will be fine with seeing Adriana reach old age.

It said in the story that originally she didn't want her killed because she was too much of a martyr/the guards would turn on her but I guess that doesn't apply now?

Daretti is the most well-mannered character ever.

Kind of tragic, but hilarious. I love how the crony "scientist" just helped him finish out his speech.

They updated Daretti's planeswalker profile and added this little paragraph:

After some time away, Daretti has returned to Fiora to reshape the power structures of Paliano that denied him his aspirations. His schemings were responsible for the disbanding of the Academy, as he tipped Grenzo, the palace's goblin prison warden, off to Muzzio's storehouse of cogwork warriors. He was also instrumental in instigating the goblin riots, both to overturn Paliano's current leadership and to root out former members of the Academy who are now lying low in the city.

The bit about Daretti being behind disbanding the Academy hasn't been explained anywhere else I think, so that adds some new info. I'm sure they just got rid of the cool clockwork stuff because of Kaladesh, though.

Damn, that's quite a lot more to take in. So he is ultimately the main antagonist of the first Conspiracy as well.

Not Fiora related, but the Phyrexian Arena reprint suggests that Koth is still alive.

Last we saw him he was causing an explosive cave-in that I'm sure he 100% survived. That being said, cards from Conspiracy that are reprints are not 100% representative of current cannon. This may be a throwback view from the Scars block for all we know. Only new cards set in Fiora are considered new content as far as the story goes. Everything else is just reprints and looks back.

If it is his current state it also shows that phyrexians are still around.

I wouldn't really call him the main antagonist, he was basically stopping Muzzio who had an even more evil plan. Though it's all a bit fuzzy because the first Conspiracy consisted mostly of hooks that didn't go anywhere. I'm glad we're getting a more coherent story this time.

It's just sheoldred that got booted off. Elesh still runs the factions she seized control over, I'm sure.
