What do you guys think about scry 5 for 2 mana? I still like Telling Time more.

I really like that card, and already have some decks in mind for it. Telling Time finds a home in a greater variety of decks, but in a few specific decks Contingency Plan will be great.

I know this is pretty irrelevant but if you gave the 6/1 menace would it be unblockable?

Well, it says "Up to 1 creature must block if able"

So no, it wouldn't be unblockable. And I wouldn't THINK it would force them to double block, but that I don't actually know. I guess they would be "able" since they are capable of double blocking. My reading is that they would be required to block with 2 creatures, but I actually am not sure.

this is a card that needs to be examined, just to set my mind at ease :

Image

This is a common 2/3 vanilla, but it's also a psychatog type of card. All you need to do with this thing in an agressive deck is protect it for a turncycle, then give it evasion. 2/1 goblin anyone ? :D we don't have a way to give it hexproof, do we ? Otherwise, enter the 10/10 plant elemental combo deck.
You put this together with Nantuko Husk

Outside of Crats and I guess things like Lunar Force, what permanents can we consistently sac? Evolving Wilds, Vessels, Terrarion/Alchemist's Vials...?

Combine with that 2/1 goblin and you have nantuko husk 2,0.

I also am a total fool. Misread the card since it says 'whenever you sac' not 'sac a permanent, get +1+1 counter'. Would've been totally busted.

Move along people, it's just old gobbo making a fool of himself. At least it's marginally better than the other dude we have for

Lol no Emrakul... Stainless is a joke. That would be one of the most fun cards to play with in the set

Not as good as Vines of Vastwood, which is a shame, but it is good. Just a little pricy.

Lol, I was wondering what you were talking about.

All good though, this set is brand new, we are still in the idea phase. As for the whenever you sac clause, we do have a card that allows us to sac all, so it might still be interesting. It's just too bad it's not a 3/3, because then it probably WOULD be easily playable in any deck that wants it.

I know. Fork in the Road, Gitrog, Tireless Tracker... so many good things to run with stunning regrowth.

You forgot clues. And there are many ways to make clues work.

This, Tireless Tracker, and Ulvenwald Mysteries would be good. Add in Lambholt Pacifist, Sylvan Advocate, Duskwatch Recruiter, and the new 1Cmc Green Transforming WereWolf and you have the makings of an interesting deck, IMO. Finisher in the form of the new Craterhoof style creature. Maybe Evolving Wilds as well. And I'm missing some things, but it should be good, and VERY consistent.

The fact that it is an elemental also gives it synergy with the good old evolutionary leap, omnath, locus of rage burn to the face combo.

I'd probably splash for RS and TKS over , because it wouldn't be hard. But yeah... /deck.

I meant Evolutionary Leap, when I said Evolving Wilds, but a) ninDJa'd and b) both.

Yup it's red and rare.

Image

I don't know if it's gonna be enough, but we may get some other playable burn as well, so this might knoock of a turn off the clock of the format perhaps?

I see it as our only way (within this archetype) to get rid of a creature with >4 toughness. has to be less than 6 still ofc, but I guess that is fine for 4 mana. it fits with the theme, but doesn't play well with jori and stormchaser/abbot. My whole deck will be getting a tune-up when this set comes out it seems.

Well, that and Lightning Axe. But yeah, more for burn than prowess decks.

I agree, this card allows you to go FIVE deep. You don't even have to put anything in the graveyard and you could just re-arrange your draw steps. I doubt it'll be decent in control, but I plan on trying it out. It's really more of a graveyard card since you could possibly get delirum by T2.

Well, wotc has been pushing for permanents to become stronger than non-permanents for a long time... makes sense that there's less support for burn-type stuff.

Depending on what cards we get I think mono-red burn/aggro could be a very real thing. There's incendiary flow, collective defiance, impetuous devils, and stormkirk assaultist / patched abbot of keral keep which can draw more burn or just give you card advantage. Add this stuff to the efficient burn we already have (exquisite firecraft and madness'd fiery temper) and I think it would be a really solid deck.

There's also shreds of sanity, thermo-alchemist, otherwordly outburst, mirrorwing dragon, furyblade vampire and more which could be pretty good as well, depending on what else you put in.

I would only agree with about half those cards being good, but even something as simple as getting a playable 3 points of burn for already does alot to upgrade abbot for instance. There's definately potential.

Yah I mean I'm not saying they're all great, really the ones I want most are just the four I listed in the top of the post. Maybe even just the first three. Although stormkirk assaultist I think has a lot of potential as well, seeing as how we have some really good madness outlets (lightning axe and neonates), but not really many good cheap madness cards in red (just my opinion). In fact fiery temper seems to be the only good one if you don't want to go vampire heavy, so getting a 3/2 trample for 2 madness cost that can also give you card advantage looks really good, at least on paper.
