Both quite tasty.

The spirit is good; we'll see about the other card.

Spirit's is the only "new" deck I'd be bothered trying, even then its just updated Azorius flyers.

Lunar Force is by far the most underrated card of the set so far. So many people bashing at it without even thinking about it. "Oh it's a worse counterspell for 3" "Oh people can choose what will be countered". Seriously, are you guys this basic? Geez... The card's not supposed to be compared to Cancel, it's completely different, it brings new things to the table, and you're all just ignoring it. Ok, so I play this turn 3; pass on to you; now you have to deal with it, cause if you don't, it basically turns into a free counter later when I have my mana open again and this is still on the field. Now, how do you deal with it? Will you play some card you didn't intend to just to get this out of the way? Will it mess up your curve? Probably. If you weren't going to play something that turn anyway, fine, I just got a "free" counter later on, which would not happen if I just had saved Cancel in my hand and you eneded up not playing anything. Another thing people are forgeting it's that once it enters the battlefield it turns into an UNCOUNTERABLE Cancel, because once it triggers it's a triggered ability, not a spell. It forces the opponent to play around it, it looks super fun to play with, and I'm definitely going to try it out if it makes into Duels. Good luck dealing with it then, haters.

Totally agree here. You know how annoying that card is to a Control deck early? Do I lose my Telling Time, my Declaration in Stone, or my own counter spell? If it gets played in an aggressive shell, Lunar Force could actually be up there for best counter against Control decks.

Yeah foul emissary has tons of potential. The 3 good emerge cards have very high ceilings I can see them making spalsh in most creature centred decks

Horses for courses, I'll be shocked if this main decks regularly in tournaments. Great on curve, but not elsewhere. Aside from delirium benefits, it's a counter you can play around.

@ Joly

In duels it would be harder to build around it; because of our mana issues and card restrictions. But a deck that can run Foul Emissary, Eldrazi Skyspawner, Matter Reshaper would have access to a very wide range of very powerful effects at a very low opportunity cost t4.

I'm also interested in It of the Horrid Swarm. That one seems the best to try and Ormendahl/craterboar with.

Hmmm given Blue has just one mythic, are we guessing one mythic per colour this time for us with Tamiyo, Emy and Gisa/Geralf to make 8? My guess would be:

- White = Gisela (confirmed)
- Blue = Mind's Dilation
- Black = Liliana (confirmed)
- Red = Mirrorwing (confirmed)
- Green = Ishkanah
- Multi = Gisa (confirmed), Tamiyo (kinda obvious but not confirmed), Ulrich
- Colourless = Emy

I just noticed there are only 3 meld-type cards this set.

So what you're saying is that it's a counterspell where I get to choose what thing gets countered.

How great. Way better than just holding an actual counterspell.

I get that being a dick to me is your "thing" of late, but at least try to look at it from the perspective of the other people here.

My "thing" is pointing out obvious things when people refuse to acknowledge obvious things. And you're not really paying attention if you think you're the only person I've disagreed with.

A deck has 60 slots. Sure, some of these cards would be very cute in a 100 card singleton deck. But as it stands, blue has about 30 cards that do better things than this, so why use it? Maybe in a very very specific UB Delirium deck when you are REALLY hurting for card types, but understand you are choosing a suboptimal counter to make that plan work.

Kind of a pot kettle vibe you got going there, but moving along.

The other users here have explained how it is optimal in their scenarios, you don't get to dismantle that by using it in its sub optimal scenarios where a regular counterspell is better.

EDIT: You mind telling me what instant speed removal in Black I missed that induced your cringe btw? I certainly didn't mock Murder, and the escalate card (which is garbage) is the only other instant.

Corrected in that thread. The 1BB card draw. No clue why I said removal.

So what you're doing is basically this: You said card sucks because X. I argue why it's not quite simple as you tried to imply because Y, Z, and your response it's to just simply ignore all the points I made and reapeat that card sucks because X. Wow, you really are a genius showing the "obvious things" to us plebs.

IMO, unless you can recur it, it is not worth it.

A couple of drawbacks besides the obvious.

First, you can only play one at a time. 2 or more on the battlefield are wasted.

Second, some spells will trigger it but not be countered. And example it Exquisite Firecraft. It may not be that common, but still an issue.

Third, it lets the opponent get rid of cards that have no use. This may be a more rare case, but as example, I run a creature less deck, and that blanks all creature removal. All of a sudden, my opponent can cast Declaration in Stone on his own creature and expend Lunar Force.

Now, I think there may be a deck out there that can use this card. A deck with Emeria would be one I would think it would work well with.....but then again, Emeria works well with many decks if you can get her out and keep her out. This could give her some added protection, but IMO, a deck will kind of need to be built around Lunar Force to make it effective, and I don't think we have enough to make that deck effective.

I'd just like to point out that this enchantment is obviously not meant to be a control card, unlike most counters. This would not go in a control deck, it's meant to be put in a tempo deck and suits delirium fairly well.
