This version of Lili is playable (heck, I built a paper deck that makes good use of Tibalt, the Fiend-Blooded), but the question of how playable is definitely up in the air. Seems like they're being extra careful with their 3-mana 'walkers these days. I might have preferred her at 4 mana with a bit more oomph. Her oath, on the other hand, is perfectly playable if you're running any planeswalkers (otherwise it makes awkward Fleshbag Marauder #4 & 5).

The new white spirit looks pretty good.

Glancing over the spoiled cards so far, it seems like B/R vampires are getting some love and support, and maybe zombies will be a thing if we get any decent cheap zombies. Spirits deserve to be a thing based on the lack of support they have as a tribe across Magic's past. Humans have enough love, but I'm sure they'll keep getting more. Too early to call on werewolves right now.

This is legit good in W Weenie as well as in Spirits (if that is ever a deck). Maybe even Bant Tempo. Looks really strong.


Like white needed more good, playable, cheap creatures... I bet this really ruins a control players day if the sweepers he has in hand are Planar outburst or Radiant Flames.

At least its splashable... 2/1 evasive and Lets you over extend with less risk... Any aggro deck with White can and will use this.

Well she is a planeswalker very much similar to Jace, Vryn's Prodigy, just skipping over being a creature first and coming down directly as a planeswalker.
Jace is cheaper and has looting but we can't just forget the power of a planeswalker, especially one that works like like another very good walker.
She may not be the best but she can certainly still be playable and not easily removed.


Jace's -2 is amazing though

What good is being a planeswalker in and of itself?

Well, it is expensive, but this is pretty game breaking in the right deck. I sincerely hope we get it - alongside some kind of main deck playable PW hate.

I guess she likes 'cloak boy' a lot more than she lets on since she's almost equivalent to him.

Life totals: Jace is higher, but he's vulnerable to removal before he flips and the prices of the ultimates are different.
+1 - Practically the same, she just has the opportunity to kill someone.
-2 - Very similar, instead of re-casting a spell, you get to 'recast' a creature.
Ultimate - Rarely used/will rarely be used; means the inevitable death of your opponent, one by decking them out, the other by going wide and swarming. Still, Lili's ult is FAR more situational outside of a zombie tribal and even that's super vulnerable to removal. I'd rather have a hard number of zombies than a variable one.

EDIT: it's pretty obvious, at least to me, that this Lili was created with support for the delerium mechanic in mind.

I don't see this ever being a good play blind. For 6 mana you'd better have something you know is worth 6 mana.

OK, so not playing it blind.... what are you doing, first charging up Oath of Jace by having PW in play. By the time you can use it effectively, you won't need it.

Um... just a quick statement before I have to get some work done (bbl), but you guys realize lili doesn't need Zombie tribal for her emblem... starting from 0, it's still +2 zombies, then +4 zombies, then +8 zombies. it's x +2 not just x.

Not sure if all of you are aware of that.

-2 abilities have absolutely nothing in common. Jace lets you reuse a spell, Lili may or may not draw you an extra creature while she dumps your deck into your graveyard.
Jace's -2 is amazing, Lili's is meh and requires very restrictive building round.

I'm aware of that, but it's probably more like +2, desperate attempt to block the oncoming assault, then another +2 the next turn, lose those, then +2.... You need the tribal to ramp it up faster to be a threat.

Nah, I think deep down, she wants to be a good person, she's just the epitome of a black personality. I think if she hadn't been a planeswalker before the Mending, she wouldn't have gone so hard for immortality.

Jace lets you reuse a spell, Lili lets you reuse a creature. That's comparable.
To say Lili is situational by having a dead creature could also apply to Jace not having a spell to target (or a spell worth targeting).

um you do realize you can get any creature from your grave yrd back right? not just from the two cards you dump?

First of all, flip Jace doesn't have a -2. His ability costs 3 loyalty.

I don't think a PW should earn its full mana cost the turn you play it. They generate a lot of advantage over time.

I also don't think that a PW should necessarily be auto include if you can afford to cast them. Some exceptions should be made for mana intensive or expensive PW like Tamiyo or Sorin.

Lili is the cheapest non-flip PW we have and her abilities are quite comparable to flip Jace. Jace finds play in many, many decks in standard.
Lili can:
+1 lock down a bear or kill off a small creature, making edict effects (such as her oath) much more powerful
-2 mill you for two and bring back any creature in your GY, not just one of the two cards milled.

Just imagine using her abilities in conjunction with Fleshbag Marauder. +1 you take out sac fodder, -2 you force another edict effect.
To make the comparison with flip Jace again, his -3 ability is quite comparable, but it costs 50% more loyalty and does not self mill.

Lili is not worth the entire mana over flip Jace, but her first two abilities are more powerful in the right deck. Flip Jace's +2 loyalty advantage gives him an advantage early on but eventually Lili can activate her - ability more frequently.

It is funny that people are very excited about the new emerge mechanic and creatures that provide some benefit upon sacrifice such as Deadbridge Shaman. Lili can allow you to recur the whole mess and do it over again.

Again she is boring, and not the most powerful PW ever, but I think she is playable and her power level is appropriate. Sometimes, every once in a while, Wizards R & D gets it right.
