This card is nuts, and that ultimate is basically GG with good card draw.

Tamiyo is an awesome card, but it will be stuck in slow ponderous decks forever, unless they give us proper mana fixing. I almost don't even want it in our pool, tbh. It's supposed to be a t4 play, not a whenever I finally get around to having the right mana play.

With Rangers and Wilds, it's not that hard to cast t4. We can cast a t4 Wanderer for 6/6, so I don't see the issues here.

Slow, slow and midrange. That's exactly the kind of deck I'm talking about. It won't work in a deck that seeks to curve out with threats, and that's a shame is all.

edit: at least it's bant though, it could have been much worse in that respect. I will at least try a Bant Humans build.

Praise be to Tamiyo! Also it's any combat damage that draws a card not just to the opponent and it lasts on your opponent's turn so blockers can draw too. Oh! She can even git it to your opponent's creatures and cause weird annoyances for them.
She is the best!

Tamiyo works well in a deck that curve out with threats, yes, but she goes into many more decks than just that. Her +1 and -2 are super versatile, putting her on a spot to see play in decks that range from fast to slow.

Tamiyo is great, and both the Black cards are too.

Crazy cards getting spoiled today. Getting excited for the Duels release. Anybody else concerned though, about lack of new archetypes? It still seems to me like the decks that are currently strong are just going to get stronger, and I'm not sure if the new additions will provide enough competition. I'm loving the way Emerge is shaping up, though.

In duels, I predict just in slow. I agree that in constructed formats she'll be in a large variety of decks.

Actually, you're a bit of an expert on this kind of thing: are we likely to get new Dual Lands in this set?

I have no idea how number crunch works, so I can't say if we still have room for dual lands with what we've seen so far. That said, it's highly unlikely that EMN has dual lands, since we got a cycle of 5 in SOI.

Her -2 combines with Nahiri's -2, this is too much to be coincidence, therefore it's obvious she's been working with Nahiri the whole time

Stitcher's graft being number 200 means that there are 5 lands in the set, geier reach sanitarioum and hanweir battlements have already been spoiled, so if there are duals lands it's not a cycle.Source:mtg salvation number crunch thread.
That black discard spell with escalate seems nice to kill things without being dead against control.
