So...that thing can come out turn 4 if you sac a 3 drop to it? That sounds completely fair, you can tap your opponent out of their entire next turn.

Sadly no upkeep in duels meaning they get to play a spell out, but it's the thought that counts eh?

Wow, so this card wants to abolish the single best synergy card for it? This plus Call the Bloodline just seems dirty (or, put it in Abzan Crats, for that matter).

Less of a Vampire and more of a Crats card, but definitely cool nonetheless.

The green 2/1 looks decent enough to me; early beater, decent manasink later, and it enters transformed while Geier Reach Bandit is transformed.

I agree that the other two don't look so hot though.

I was going to say the 1 CMC 2/1 is pretty decent. It's not enough, but we are getting close to legit RG aggro. It will definitely be playable some day if we get it.

Cool to see some more werewolves. Read that Wizards said only flip creatures in new set are eldrazis (with the exception of werewolf mythic) so I was a little worried they'd get no new toys other than the mythic and some regular wolves. None of these look particularly inspiring for werewolf builds, but I want to stick the last one in a deck I've been tooling around with that uses Outland Colossus and menace to produce jumbo unblockable creatures. This :g: werewolf can be fetched back from GY by larger half of black meld, and if transformed it becomes unblockable when rats meld. Excited to add that stuff to my deck and see if it makes it good enough to share a decklist.

That one-drop wolf creature is the 2nd best 2/1 green 1-drop in MTG.

That being said, werewolf are still garbage. Hopefully white gets more support or something. When do they release full spoilers?

IMO leaks are good. Doing all of these previews just wastes time. All it does is generate some hype.

One good one is Walker of the Wastes. The 1/1 flyer has trample and a boost per Wastes, so it's only 3/3 loss to gain flying, but you also have a 4/4 just because.

I can think of two general ideas, but not sure what to specifically use.

First, it's 8 mana overall, but the 5 for the actual action is at instant speed. What's a great setup at instant speed? Thalia's Lieutenant? Woodland Bellower?

Second, what's a large creature with a killer "sacrifice this card to..." ability? Because you can then sac the 1/1 and keep the large zombie. Or a good "when this dies" that you can throw away the 1/1 easily? Seed Guardian? (Not Greenwarden, that's a wash, you skip the 2nd return ability to leave him in the graveyard, and the can only use the 1/1 enters play not the when dies part.) I almost want to do this with Breaker of Armies so the 10 power hits and the 1/1 is the decoy, but the flying is actually working against that.

Well, I know it's not sexy, but how about Bloodpyre Elemental? Turn 5 you use it as removal, turn 6 you pop the Soul Separator to make a spirit token that also sacs to deal 4 to a creature, and you still have a 4/1 zombie. That's some serious back-to-back removal that leaves you with a board presence.

However, my vote has got to be for Endbringer. Ever since I first saw that guy, I've wanted to divorce those tap abilities from its giant body so I could also use it for combat more often. Now they can go on a little 1/1 spirit token, while the 5/5 zombie brings the beats / stabilizes the ground.

So a few questions and statements to make about the new cards (or new-ish cards).

1) As far as Curious Homunculus is concerned have we had any other cards with that 'this mana card only be spent on X' stipulation come up anywhere else? I'm just trying to decide if we'll get the card of not.

2) Does Elder Deep-Fiend have any connection to Lorthos? I mean I know it's probably not but I can't help but notice they are both 8 cost octopi with Blue in their cost that tap permanents. Card itself is pretty damned solid though.
