Yes they're intro pack rares along with that blue Spirit Garren linked earlier. The spirit does seem pretty pushed and actually pretty good though.


Agreed, I like the spirit.

Yeah Spaceknight, seems like Soul of the Harvest but...worse...better? I don't know, never used it.

I'm intregued by this guy. Synergizes with humans (Thalia's Lieutenant), but not bound by it. Pumps himself while generating little flyers. Want to play it T4, then drop a Whirler Rogue and attack for 5/6 unblockable T5. Also a reason to revisit Abzan crats.

Prob won't be as good as I'm hoping (damn shame pump is only till EOT), but should make for some fun decks.

6 mana for a 2/2 zombie and draw out a removal spell. Not terrible. Maybe.
What are some good ways to toss more +1 tokens on this guy?


Well you could always wait until it's reached 1 counter, then cast Long Road Home on it, and use the flicker to bring it back to 5 counters.
Or Essence Flux, which is more in keeping with the colors of Zombie tribal.

I'm not sure what to make of this one. Ability is Kessig Forgemaster on steroids, and I want to give it menace to put opp between a rock (take 5) and a hard place (take 6 and possibly lose 2 blockers trying to kill it). CMC has me wondering if I would like it in practice as much as I like it in theory...

Btw guys, those images say "Intro Pack" off to the right of the collector numbers on the bottom.

In SoI, we only got one of the five intro pack rares: we got Flameblade Angel, but we did NOT get Drogskol Cavalry, Nephalia Moondrakes, Soul Swallower or Markov Dreadknight. Arguably, the one we got was the best one (maybe you like Soul Swallower better, and that's okay).

For EMN, I *hope* we get at least Noosegraf Mob and this one: Image

Both of those are card advantage vs. removal in general, and could power deck strategies. Yes, I am aware that Niblis of Frost is the good one, but it's depressingly good in a deck type that I don't enjoy playing, and therefore I hope we don't get it. The white and red ones are... overcosted... but I could imagine someone finding a use for the white one.

Oh, and that green enchantment Influence of Emrakul? Draw two cards whenever you cast a 7+ colorless Eldrazi creature? Jury is out, but I wouldn't count it out just yet. Comparing it to Elemental Bond is not exactly fair; Elemental Bond doesn't require specific deck construction to quite the same level, and it only draws you ONE card when it triggers. Drawing 2 cards per trigger is a whole different beast, that's like having two copies of Elemental Bonds on the battlefield while only spending one card to do it. I'm not saying Influence of Emrakul will be good, it might be complete junk; but triggering it just once pays for itself and the card you just cast. Twice, and you've netted serious card advantage.

If we get any emerge eldrazi of 7+ cost worth writing home about (and Wretched Gryff already isn't terrible), the deck could absolutely be there. Even if it remains iffy, I could imagine it being the foundation of a new deck archetype of D cards if they decide to push emerge for the EMN release. New players already have access to Ruin Processor, so I don't think it's too crazy if they put two emerge eldrazi into the D cards.

The only time it's worse than impulse is if you're running fewer than a playset, but even @ 3 I'm not sure I'd say worse than. Your 3rd Galvanic kills Avacyn or Kalitas; Impulse can't do that. I'll take that benifit over the off chance I get 2 instants or sorceries in GY before I cast my first Impulse.

If you're running 2 or fewer, it's prob less than or equal to impulse. If you're running more than 2, it's prob greater than or equal to it.

Of course it would be better if it could go to face, but it would prob be overpowered at that point and certainly so in the common slot.

Not sure how you equate it a worse than...at worst, it hits for 2 and late game, the 4th one hits for 5. Impluse is never doing that.

Take Inventory is pretty hard not to include in decks running Blue mana. The first replaces itself, a la Think Twice, and every one after that is just value.

True that, and I mentioned that before. However, for 2 mana, you are drawing at least parity, and the more of them you use the better they get. The last one is a 1:4 for 2 mana...at any speed, that is insane value.

Imagine using this with Tutelage out...:D

Well, initially, you're required to run a playset. And it's easy for Fiery Impulse to hit for 3 on it's first go, if it's your third spell cast, which isn't that rare. For it to hit for 4, you need to be casting your third of just that particular card.

That is true but before SOI we got all the intro pack rares. I think with SOI they maybe listened and decided to mix up the rares a bit because a lot of the intro pack rares where ignored as useless and rubbish.
Since more of the Intro Pack rares are actually decent this time we might have a good chance of getting any of them, probably because it's the last time they're doing intro packs so all the rares are a bit more pushed than usual.
