Gisela, the Baneslayer Wannabe looks like it will be played in every deck running white, so most of them. Just what white needed: more power!

The two cards required for the already leaked Writhing Township. Both very playable.

By the sounds of it there isn't actually that many Meld cards and these 3 may be the only ones.
Also I guess everyone was right and wrong about what transformed into the Hanweir town; It's both a land and a red creature.

Tabak's said that there's only three pairs of Meld cards, which... Well, I guess it lets them experiment with it without possibly making the whole set an unplayable mess in limited.

One interesting thing for us from Rosewater's article: The content lead for Magic Duels was part of the design team for Eldritch Moon. Hopefully that means Stainless started working early on making the new mechanics work properly. Also Emrakul's Mindslaver effect.

Well, meld mechanic couldn't have been a fake. Spoilered art already hinted something like that.
I'm still not sold on the rats/scavengers meld. It still seems too pricey and weak. Easy to get rid off.

On the other hand, Hanweir seems good enough. Not much land destruction after the moss. Although the melding price is a bit steep for anything that doesn't run green as well.
At first I thought it could've been a great card for an Izzet Vile Aggregate Eldrazi/Artifact deck.
Ah, goddamn if that Vile Aggregate's ruling had read Colorless permanents instead of creatures. It could've gone an outstanding Gruul clue trample.

There's still the Cryptolith fragment, tho. Could get a spot in some artifact deck.


Brisela is hands down the better one for me. 2 good creatures with fine prices for what they do on their own, that meld into that beast. Expecially so, given the fact they are both in white, and W alone or even W/U has enough ways to protect those creatures. And even more are being added with Long Road Home.


All in all, I'm liking this.

Interestingly the Long Road Home spoiler will exile your melded Brisla and they split up into the 2 Angels and then both come back with the +1/+1 counter even though they're now 2 cards.
Of course they lose the counters again when they meld back together later but Long Road Home is an Instant so you could exile your melded card on the opponent's turn and then get an attack with a boosted pair of Angels on your next turn before they meld back together.

I'm really not looking forward to Four Mana Baneslayer Angel, Splashable Celestial Flare and Thalia of the Taplands. It is okay to make good cards that aren't white, wotcee, I promise you people like playing other colors too.

Hanweir Garrison + Thalia's Lieutenant is going to be brutal

Well, resolve Brisela, Voice of Nightmares and that's GG for 90% of your control cards. 4 mana Hard counters might have to be a thing, but I like how they work with each other pre-meld.

lmao, if people are resolving 7 drops, I'm pretty sure the counter deck is already ****'ed. 4 mana counters would just break their back further.

Either you'll get her with a sweeper or Oblivion Strike or a counter a long time ago...or you lose. I'm not going to screw my list up to play around a card that melds when they resolve a 4 drop (that's a must remove) and a 7 drop.
