The green-blue Draft archetype became the "transformation matters" deck. In the end, though, this theme didn't play well enough to keep.

Looks like that was tried in design but changed by the time the set was developed.

I'm wondering if BW could be the delirium archetype?

This set is a bit weird because some of the mechanics are centred in the same colours as the tribes - UB being zombies and skulk, BR being vampires and madness.

You're right about UG, my mistake. About Delirium, we saw a lot of Green cards with it already, and the color does Self-Mill, unlike White.

What rarity were those green cards though? (I can't easily check the full spoiler from work, but I don't know if we've seen a green delirium below rare yet)

It seems like white has the powerful uncommons. Delirium doesn't have to be self mill it can be cast an instant and a sorcery and sacrifice two permanents. Green seems to be more interested in fuelling a discard deck - black discards basic lands to gain effects, then green returns them to hand.

My personal opinion is that if we do Ravnica AGAIN so soon I will strangle the nearest living thing with its own entrails. Except I won't actually do that, because that would be awful, but I'll be pissed and probably take a half-year break from Magic. Unless they have Rav eaten by Emrakul, The guilds get decisively crushed, or pillage the Guildwars Forum Voting Games for their plot (which would also crush guilds and I could feel responsible). Then maybe I'd buy in.

Well, if that random BS turns out to be true, I take heart in one thing: War of the Guilds can't happen with Jace as is. Either he dies, is no longer living guildpact, or can't get to ravnica (which is as good as not being living Guildpact). Or they manage to burn the place down while he's absent.

I'm cool with anything that leads to Ravnica's annihilation as-is

Nah, I don't think they'd go that far on one of their most popular planes. Especially not after Emrakul has just done the same to Innistrad (my crazy theory is looking more and more likely, woohoo)

Riggers and Contraptions? A set completely free of instants, sorceries, and enchantments with tons of OP midrange creatures and OP artifacts? Some particularly weird creature type he's secretly obsessed with that creative never let him make before because it didn't make sense in prior worlds? Some kind of terrible mechanic idea that is bad in both limited and constructed formats due to being clunky and unintuitive to play with while also being just strong enough that they make every implementation of it too high cmc to be worth playing? Some kind of coin-flipping, dice rolling, or random mechanic being prominent in red? Some kind of doubling mechanic in green?

Actually, I think I'm being a bit over-critical with some of these, and I'm just salty over control in Standard being nerfed from the days of RTR block and saying goodbye to 4 mana unconditional wraths.

I was convinced of the Emrakul theory when they released an official article pointing out all the tentacles, fungus-like latticework, and "otherworldly colors" that appear on SOI card art. All of those are motifs associated with eldrazi, with the latticework being a particular trait of Emrakul's brood.

Also the fact that Battle for Zendikar was condensed from 3 to 2 sets gives them a good reason.

I was convinced of Emrakul when I read the art book's pages of her being all about how her presence induces madness and how she only alters organic matter and how survivors of Emrakul encounters often had latticework sprouting from their flash to sign the beginning of their transformation into drones. Then I took a look at SOI's artwork and no way it isn't Emrakul.

Though I hope they don't actually solve the Eldrazi storyline now.

Did Emrakul mosey on over to Innistrad? Is the Shadow over Innistrad spaghetti-monster-shaped? Are we going from Victorian-era gothic horror in Innistrad to Lovecraftian horror?

About 0%. The basic story for SOI is that Jace heads over there to find Sorin because Ugin was all "I sent that self-absorbed vampire to get Nahiri weeks ago and that dick still hasn't shown up." So Jace goes to Innistrad because that's Sorin's home.

Until we get more story about SOI, expect people to ride the Avacyn is Nahiri hype train even though it is impossible for that to be true based on known events and times in the story line.

You know what else is tied to tentacles-like appendages, funguses and is relevant to innistrad story? trees! It was the tree of redemption all along, it even got hinted by appearing multiple times on the new stories and having a marque green mythic representing a tree.

Plot twist: Killing Emrakul causes all the vampires in every plane to spontaneously disappear/die! The Eldrazi are why vampires exist and killing the last one would kill off millions upon millions of...living?...beings.
