The only thing I don't like from your Burness writeup build is that Abbot is a card that puts you on tilt when the bug gets you (you don't always have that land in hand) and also that Jori En is a lady.

e: Well, this is a terrible post to have at the top of the page. I'm talking to Haven here, just to be clear.

My apologies if I offended Miss Jori En, my merfolk gender recognition skills seem to be a bit off.

As to the Abbot, I rarely play him early. I keep him in my hand until I need the second spell he can potentially bring. But, having a castable creature or Sorcery also does the trick, so It hasn't been a big issue. Also, when your drawing 2-3 cards per turn its not that hard to get a land. But, I agree that Abbot would be much better without the bug...
Feel free to swap him for something else, like the 4th Neonate and an extra Fiery Temper. Its all good.

Gimmick, you need to have more fun when you are gifted with the top post. You gotta quickly edit it to something like, "...anyway, that's why nachos tend to give me enthusiastic diarrhea. "

But I would never dare to steal your thread-derailing thunder!

...

Okay, that's a lie, I was just trying to sound serious while making not-very-serious points. It is a difficult balance to maintain.

Maybe Merfolk men have tits. Or he could be a crossdresser for all we know.

I feel like your deck (Haven_pt) is trying to do too many things at once. aggro wants the creatures, burn wants the direct damage, TitI wants the spells, etc, etc. RDW usually incorporates burn as its finisher (e.g. Stoke the Flames from rabble red) but it lacks the spells to reliably flip TitI who is quite literally the best creature in the burn deck. board clear + 7 damage, there is no beating it. I feel like you should look more to the RDW shell to do the fast early creature damage and finish them off with the leftover burn.

No, I have confirmation in the portuguese language title for the card. It says mergulhadora which transplantes to female Diver. So the gender orientated doubts are dissipated.

Wasn't Lord Eddard Stark's Captain of the guard in Game of Thrones, called Jori? Thats probably where my confusion came from, its such a macho name...

Jori reads veeeeery feminine to my native-romantic-language ears, but I can see (or rather hear) how it would sound masculine when read with a germanic or russian accent.

Research indicates that Italian and French are the world's most seductive languages. :) Sadly the "romantic languages" get their name from the romans, not for their sexiness, so the rest of them don't have that benefit. :(

This has been trivia time with Gimmick, thanks for listening.

My GF is French I can confirm the research. I think it is sexiest for women to speak French and men to speak Italian.

Barney are you Anglophone or Francophone? I had a friend in Montreal I visited him a few times, fun place, very different vibe.

Aggro is a ruse. This deck is in no way an aggro deck. The creatures are totally expendable. They serve to soften up the opponent for the killing blow. Either that or for card advantage. Thats why they have evasion or draw abilities. TITI is the exception. I guess I could go almost creatureless, but I'd lose jori's draw, 3 or 4 damage Titan's Strength and stormchaser's coolness that add +1 damage for each burn spell.
Like I said, creatures are a ruse. They're basically early game damage. If they die... No problem, it gives my opponent a false sense of security. He starts playing his stuff, thinking he's safe. Then boom...
It works and has worked consistently. Like I said in the burn thread, this deck's downfall would be catching on. Because if everone starts throwing tons of life gain into their decks, it would kill it...

Italian is supposed to be sexy?
I can understand that people like the sound of French. I probably would aswell, if I didn't hate that language with a passion.
I'd vote for Spanish as the best sounding romance language.

Really? I always hear people of other countries say that we sound too energetic and that we are everytime angry haha. Frech definitely has the sexy language tittle :P Italians ARE romantic haha but the language doesn't sound like that.

Anglophone. My mom is francophone but she's perfectly bilingual.

Yeah, Montreal rocks. It has that same fun vibe as Boston, Halifax and Edinburgh. All sister cities with huge student populations.

I like Quebec French a ton, but I hate France French ("proper" French). I don't like the sound of it at all.

For anyone interested in running Izzet Prowess, I've found Essence Flux to be invaluable in keeping your creatures alive. I wish I could include more than three, but I find having at least one Dispel in my deck also helps.

I've been experimenting with Pyromancer's Assault. While it works well with Prowess, it slows down the deck a little more than I'd like.

In my experience so far, 18 lands has been the sweet spot for me so try that first before adjusting your lands.

There just aren't many decent Prowess creatures available and not enough draw power available for Prowess to be really good right now, but swinging with two 7/10 Stormchaser Mage or transforming a Thing in the Ice after using four Titan's Strengths will never get old.

Try my burness build. I only play Stormchaser and Abbot with prowess and they're only for the early game... If they die, finish him off with burn... Jori, Fevered visions and big Jace are usually enough draw to get you the burn you need. Pyromancer's Assault is pretty good in that deck, combine it with Jori and watch 'em burn. Just burn to the face, don't bother burning creatures too much unless they're troublesome. You can usually do 20 damage before your opponent can and when they're low on life they really start sweating. Only problem is against decks with large amounts of life gain, but there are that many of those around. I wouldn't suggest the deck for any tournaments though, especially with sideboards, because part of what makes the deck work is the surprise effect.
The list is somewhere in this thread, have fun.

I've been experimenting with Embermaw Hellion in U/R Burn, and the 1-of is turning out to be an all-star, to the point I'm considering adding a second.

One doubt I have about the hellion is its casting cost. 5 cmc usually means it has to survive 'til next turn to do anything
It is a pretty big body and tramples, but when I have enough mana to cast it, I usually need to win fast... If it had haste...
