Hello! This is my first deck posted here, although I've been reading these forums for a while. I'm fairly new to Magic, although I'm not the greatest. This is my deck for a Boros Enchantment/Auras deck with some Allies mixed in:

1-drops:
2 x Topplegeist
2 x Expedition Envoy
2 x Fiery Impulse

2-drops:
2 x Consul's Lieutenant
2 x Kor Bladewhirl
2 x Reckless Cohort
2 x Grasp of the Hieromancer
2 x Nimbus Wings
2 x Inferno Fist
1 x Vessel of Volatility
3 x Gideon's Reproach

3-drops:
1 x Bygone Bishop
2 x Makindi Patrol
1 x Firemantle Mage
1 x Always Watching

4-drops:
2 x Chasm Guide
1 x Isolation Zone
1 x Suppression Bonds
1 x Pyromancer's Assault
1 x Gideon, Ally of Zendikar
1 x Nahiri, the Harbinger

5-drops:
1 x Archangel Avacyn
2 x Sigil of the Empty Throne

Lands:
8 x Plains
7 x Mountians
2 x Clifftop Retreat
1 x Blighted Steppe
3 x Evolving Wilds
2 x Stone Quarry

I've only just started playing with this deck, but it's serving me pretty well. It's the standard, attack till you win kind of deck, pumping up smaller creatures with the auras and clearing the way with removal. I'd love to get any advice you guys can give! I'm already considering a handful of changes I want/am thinking about changing:
I'm probably going to switch out the Blighted Steppe for another Plains.
I'm considering switch one or both of the Inferno Fist
in favor of Call of the Full Moon
. I like the massive power boost plus trample, as well as the fact that it actually gives my creature some toughness. I'm not, however, thrilled about the fact that it sacs itself kind of easily towards the later game, and Inferno Fist
has the benefit of built-in removal.
I might trade out Pyromancer's Assualt
, which I've yet to use, for a Molten Vortex
as this deck runs well on 4-5 lands, so it could probably work better.
I'm also thinking about either trading my one Isolation Zone
for a second Suppression Bonds
or vice versa - their effects are so similar that I feel like I could trade one of two copies of the other. I think I like Isolation Zone better, but I'm not sure.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Hi Kirito! I'd recommend the following:

+1 Always Watching, -1 Makindi Patrol. Watching gives you his rally without being dependent on triggers, plus the +1/+1 buff, and triggers Sigil. I'd rather run a play set of those than a 1 off +2 Patrols.

+1 Lantern Scout, -1 Makindi Patrol. Getting vigilance from Watchings^, and adding Lifegain from Scout.

+1 Retreat to Emeria, -1 Pyromancer's Assault. Without much card draw or cantrip, not sure how often you can expect to be meeting Assaults' trigger, and I'd really hate to top deck Assault later in the game. Retreat gives you rally triggers or buffs your team, while still being a Sigil trigger.

I don't like Reckless Cohort, and would cut those too. If their inclusion is just for another ally trigger in the 2 spot, I'd run Zada's Commandos (1st strike and can ping at opps end step), a 3rd Kor Bladewhirl, or even Serene Steward (know you don't have much life gain, but your opponent won't know that and she can draw removal).

Flaring Flame-Kin really wants to be in Boros aura decks too.

Tough call on Isolation vs Suppression. The former helps to keep triggered abilities from occurring still, while the latter is a little easier to cast and can hit a Planeswalker...

Just my :two:

Okay, thanks! Unfortunately, I'm short the second Always Watching
, so I think I'll have to leave the patrols alone for now to keep up with my vigilance. I'm at a similar spot with the Zada's Commandos
since I only have one, ,so maybe +1 Commandos, +1 Kor Bladewhirl
? I never thought of Retreat to Emeria
as a replacement for the Pyromancer's Assault
. The card draw in my deck is pretty much nonexistent since it's just the Bygone Bishop
. Finally, I think I'll go with 2 Suppression Bonds
as I didn't consider that Isolation can't hit a planeswalker, and those things are all over the place right now. On a note unrelated to the deck, why does it look like I hit Enter ten times on my other post? Is it a formatting thing?

I would do that - but really anything to get the Cohort's out. IMHO, with the wealth of ally < or = 2 drops available between the Zendikar sets, Cohort should be in the trash bin.

If you mean the large gaps between sections of your deck list, it's a formatting thing. It automatically puts a space between the line where you closed your deck tag and start the new line. If you want to close it up to single spaces between sections, just close the tags on the same line you have the last card on, and start the new one directly below it.

Boros Human Equipment

My goal was to take advantage of Weapons Trainer and Avacynian Missionaries with an equipment theme. Not sure how good this deck can be. I have won some games around rank 25 but it does not feel as strong as mono-white aggro. Avacynian Missionaries + Neglected Heirloom can be a huge play, but it does not happen that often. Do I need evasion? Nimbus Wings? Comments/suggestions welcome.

Creature(23)
3 x Anointer of Champions
3 x Expedition Envoy
2 x Relic Seeker
2 x Hanweir Militia Captain
2 x Thalia's Lieutenant
2 x Topan Freeblade
3 x Weapons Trainer
3 x Iroas's Champion
3 x Avacynian Missionaries

Instant(8)
2 x Enshrouding Mist
4 x Fiery Impulse
2 x Make a Stand

Sorcery(2)
2 x Declaration in Stone

Artifact(5)
2 x Neglected Heirloom
2 x Stoneforge Masterwork
1 x Slayer's Plate

Land(22)
11 x Plains
2 x Needle Spires
7 x Mountain
2 x Clifftop Retreat

@Joe Nimbus Wings might be a good idea, as a flier that buffed with Equipment can be nasty. Another suggestion is to try adding a Chitinous Cloak. +2/+2 isn't bad, and the menace ability can help with aggro. I'm not sure what could be cut for these, however.

Boros Equipment UPDATE

Did some testing with this deck and decided Avacynian Missionaries and Weapons Trainer do not mix well. Missionaries are a very expensive play, since you really need to play the card and equip in the same turn, otherwise you are just asking for sorcery speed removal. This new version is really a white humans rush deck with a splash of red for Impulse, Iroa's Champion, and Weapons Trainer. I have one copy of Missionaries that should probably be Archangel of Tithes. This is not a strong archetype, since it is tough to get Weapons Trainer and an equipment out at the same time. When you do, it is easy to kill Weapons Trainer. The dream play is to get a big Stoneforge Masterwork flier, I have not made that happen yet.

Let me know if I missed something or of this archetype just sucks.

Yeah I just made a similar deck. Glad I came in here. Forgot all about he R/W humans haha. My plan was to use red enchantments, Call of the full moon and Infectious Bloodlust, and Nimbus Wings and Always Watching. Added Stoneforge as well. All my creatures are humans. Just played 3 games so far, but will keep testing.

I say the heck with the equipment and just run auras.

For sure the auras version of Boros Humans is stronger. My version has Nahiri's Machinations which is awesome in the aggro mirror and useless against ramp and control.

Hi NGA! I don't write here much but I lurk a lot because I'm mostly netdecking. Please roast my deck! I know it's not awesome/top-tier because I've only had about a 50% winrate with it, but can we make it better? I know most aggressive creature decks aren't the best when the current meta is to run 18 sweepers + 18 planeswalkers but I want to try. I used to run 2x Bygone Bishop because I have so many cheap creatures but I cut them for a 4th Makindi Aeronaut and a 3rd Firemantle Mage because often it would just sit in my hand if I had Ally creatures to cast instead because this deck wants to be attacking every turn and often you need to trigger Menace/First Strike to be able to. Why these useless 1/3 fliers you might ask? They are good when the opponent gets enough blockers so I can't attack profitably, then I can just stack all my equipment on my fliers to keep hitting their face. I'm not really happy with my Cliffside Lookouts but there isn't many good 1-drop alternatives when you go allies, worst case scenario it's a 1 CMC Menace/First Strike trigger and you can use the rest of you mana for putting your equipments on the right creature.

Equipped Allies

Creature(27)
3x Expedition Envoy
3x Cliffside Lookout
4x Kor Castigator
3x Kor Bladewhirl
4x Makindi Aeronaut
3x Weapons Trainer
2x Lantern Scout
3x Firemantle Mage
1x Chasm Guide
1x Munda, Ambush Leader

Sorcery(2)
2x Declaration in Stone

Enchantment(2)
2x Always Watching

Planeswalker(1)
1x Gideon, Ally of Zendikar

Artifact(6)
4x Bone Saw
2x Stoneforge Masterwork

Land(22)
10x Plains
3x Mountain
2x Needle Spires
2x Clifftop Retreat
4x Evolving Wilds
1x Westvale Abbey

What Barney said.

Or to put it in other words: You replaced 2x Morphling with 2x Brown Ouphe, since you never felt like casting the former.

Come on you can roast better than that! And hating on my Bone Saws? They're actually underrated while clues are pretty much overrated in decks that wants to be aggressive. If you're cracking clues with an aggressive deck you are on your way to losing that game.

This deck is not quite fast enough to succeed as a purely aggro deck. I think it is better to slow up a little but add in a reasonable long-term game plan. You might try -4 Aeronaut (1/3 flier is just too weak of a threat for an aggressive deck), -4 Castigator (there are too many 1/1s running around for a one toughness aggressive creature to be reliable), -3 Cliffside Lookout (just not that good), -2 Stoneforge Masterwork (Slayer's Plate is a lot more versatile, as Stoneforge Masterwork is only good if your opponent has no removal at all), -1 Chasm Guide (Akoum Firebird is a better threat if you have enough red sources), -1 Westvale Abbey (you don't have enough lands to use this in many games, and you need more red sources), -4 Evolving Wilds (the RW enters tapped Dual Land is better because it is a permanent source of both colors), +3 Mountains, +4 Boros Guildgate (or whatever that land is called), +2 Slayer's Plate, +2 Bygone Bishop, +1 Avacyn, +2 Pia and Kiran Nilaar, and +4 Dauntless Cathar. This slows your deck down a little, and takes out many of the ally synergies, but it gives you much better resilience, as you gain a bunch of ways to make 1/1 fliers to equip. A 1/1 Spirit with a Slayer's Plate and a couple of Bonesaws on it is a 7/3 flying attacker.

There is a lot of stuff in here that is for experimentation:
-Is Mirrorwing Dragon actually good? Is it better than Avacyn?
-How often can I make the Writhing Township? Is it worth it?
-Is Collective Effort really better than Always Watching?

Boros Humans Aggro
Creature(23)
3 x Expedition Envoy
1 x Kytheon, Hero of Akros
2 x Topan Freeblade
2 x Hanweir Militia Captain
2 x Thalia's Lieutenant
2 x Selfless Spirit
2 x Abbot of Keral Keep
2 x Hanweir Garrison
3 x Iroas's Champion
2 x Thalia, Heretic Cathar
1 x Gisela, the Broken Blade
1 x Mirrorwing Dragon

Instant(6)
3 x Fiery Impulse
3 x Ride Down

Sorcery(6)
2 x Declaration in Stone
2 x Collective Effort
2 x Exquisite Firecraft

Planeswalker(2)
1 x Gideon, Ally of Zendikar
1 x Nahiri, the Harbinger

Land(23)
6 x Plains
2 x Needle Spires
5 x Mountain
2 x Clifftop Retreat
4 x Stone Quarry
2 x Hanweir Battlements
2 x Westvale Abbey

Use the search function. Sometimes old topics like to disappear.

On topic:

-Mirrorwing Dragon is good if you use single-target combat tricks. In your shell, I'd say Avacyn is better by quite a lot, if you even want either of them (5 mana is quite a lot for this deck).
-Without recursion, you can make Hanweir the Writhing Township 2 times (as both parts are used to create it). Since its parts are pretty good on their own, I'd say it's worth it to include them.
-Collective Effort vs. Always Watching: Why not use both? Always Watching is a better t3, as all the things you cast afterwards grow as well. Collective Effort is a better topdeck late-game as it does some work even when you're behind.

Regarding your deck; you're not really making use of Hero of Iroas's Double Strike I think. I'd cut that for some other stuff - Always Watching or Bygone Bishop for example.
Also, I'm nor sure how you want to skew your manabase; I'd say you want quite some more White early but that would make Firecraft more of a questionable inclusion.

Some ideas:
Heavy red version:
-1 Gisela, the Broken Blade
-2 Collective Effort
-1 Gideon, Ally of Zendikar
+1 Fiery Impulse
+3 Titan's Strength
-3 Plains
+3 Mountain
Lower the curve, get rid of the WW cards, add Titan's Strength to synergize w/ Iroas's Champion

Heavy white version:
-1 Mirrorwing Dragon
-3 Fiery Impulse
-3 Exquisite Firecraft
+1 Archangel Avacyn
+2 Always Watching
+3 Nimbus Wings
+1 Angelic Destiny
+3 Plains
-3 Mountain

Get rid of RR cards. The four enchants can double their effectiveness on Iroas's Champion

Other possibilities: Savage Alliance. Not really sure how effective it is to give the team trample but no pump.
