1.9 is out. It's not yet an option on my server provider but it should be very soon so expect that today or early tomorrow.

I still have no idea what's going on with the spawn chunks, but there's no less than three skeleton trap horses in the water. It's kind of ridiculous. I'm just going to set them all off and see what happens.

EDIT: Spoiler: what happened was death. Repeatedly. I had planned ahead, so I didn't lose anything, but still, death.

The server is now running spigot to hopefully combat the lag and maybe give us some plugins.

This MMO plugin is annoying me. It doesn't play well at all with using the offhand, causing me to do things I don't want to do, it clogs up the chat with a ton of irrelevant messages, and random fireworks going off in your face when you're trying to do something is a pain. :/

I think you can turn some of that off, I'll check it out. I never got any fireworks so that's odd, and you don't use chat :V

If I may ask, what addons do you currently have on your server?

Currently only mcmmo. I intend it to be almost entirely vanilla, maybe with an economy based plugin later. I would like to start a thaumcraft server at some point but don't really have the funds right now.

Hm, I think Spigot breaks my skelly farm design. I just went to get some bones, and tried to restock it while I was at it, but even with Looting III only a handful of bones dropped. A small percentage of bones normally burn in the lava, but now it's almost all of them. I think what's happening is that the items are grouping and re-grouping fast enough that everything groups up with the bones in the lava and burn before the hopper can get them. That or MCMMO is changing the drops like it does with fishing.

The other issue, and I think this is a render distance issue, is that chunks seem to be unloading less than 128 blocks from the player. So since chunks unload before mobs despawn, all mobs present in the chunk remain there indefinitely until the chunk loads again. This means mobs can't despawn for being too far from the player, and it's what causes you to encounter hostile mobs in broad daylight sometimes--they spawned at night the last time somebody passed by, and they've been safely unloaded since.

Hey, Lily--thanks for updating the server, but 16w21a doesn't seem to be an option in the MC launcher anymore, so it's currently impossible to log on. 16w20a is there, and so is 16w21b, but not 16w21a.

Looks like you updated just in time for them to patch. :P

Wow, I haven't played Minecraft in a while, but this update looks pretty neat. Ice skeletons that slow you down? Desert zombies that don't burn in the sun? Polar bears?

Maybe I should check out Lily's server if it's still up.

Started playing this every time my internet goes out bc have nothing better to do. <- Up to 18 hours on one save file now, which is like 6x my best previous record. I have questions.

1) What are the Good uses for Gold? Powered Rails are a good use. Building a house out of gold is not.

2) What are the Good uses for Diamond?

3) What are the uses of Lapis Lazuli, Emeralds, and Nether Quartz?

4) How does Rail work? What can I get away with without Redstone and Powered Rail?

5) What is the easiest way to kill an Iron Golem? Using only wood, cobblestone, and iron?

Powered rails are the big one, and a few food items like golden apples, glistering melons, and golden carrots--the latter two are useful for potions. Other than that, they're mostly decorative. You can make armor and tools out of them, but they have terrible durability and so are mostly just for looks.

mark777 wrote:

Tools and armor, by far. Also enchanting tables.

mark777 wrote:

Lapis is a blue dye and is also used for enchanting, and the blocks are a nice decorative element. Emeralds are used to trade with villagers. Nether quartz is a fantastic--though expensive--decorative block and is used to make advanced redstone components, comparators being by far the most important.

mark777 wrote:

Put a minecart on rails, and you can use it to transport yourself, mobs, (or items, with the use of minecart chests) along them. Hopper minecarts can collect items along the track for you. Powered rails are what make them really useful, though--without them, you can...send things downhill? Or up...if you're willing to push it the entire way.

Use your iron to make a bucket, and use the bucket to dump lava at its feet. That, or encase it in blocks so it can't move or attack you while you hit it to death, though that takes longer.

My impression of the game so far (now that I've played a lot more) is that Powered Rail and anything Redstone is going to be a big pain. Diamond by comparison is harder to get but there are much less things I want to do with it. Iron is somewhere in the middle where I can dig for it and find it reliably but is a pain.

I think I have 10 more days to renew or it gets shut down. Anyone care about this anymore?
