I prefer to buy them before, if only because of the roleplay. Likewise, if given the option to actually collect resources to preform the rituals, I'd also work on that. But then again, it's not really stated what the components are, we're just buying mysterious bundles of stuff with no mass, weight or composition.

Doesnt bother me, I don think I'll be doing any rituals, but I've always enjoyed roleplaying the ingredients.

Unless its a module, in which case, no... just gold.

Even if it's just cost, doesn't mean you can't have fun and roleplay with the ingredients...really just about if you have to buy them ahead of time or not (if I'm following, didn't really look into rituals, since my character can't do them, I assume)

...and so the entire party falls to in-fighting trying to conquer there most deadly foe yet - a name they agree upon!

I personally think it should be 'Zau Gwai the magnificent and his assorted band of skilled mercenaries' but I may be bias.

Hmm on that note what are we in relation to the city? I mean are adventuring parties particularly common here? Do we have much competition in the whole 'sell-swords for hire' business? Are we simply mercenaries willing to trade our specialized skill sets for coin regardless of the job? We have a pretty decent apartment complex to ourselves and a few levels under out belts so we must be at least proficient at... whatever it is we do. Do we scout for jobs or are we well known enough as problem solvers that people come to us? I think we need to determine exactly what it is we do in Hoi Lan Fa before we settle on a name here.

Also as we begin this adventure already knowing one other (we live and work together after all) we should probably string together a few lines about how that came to be. Squinty and Hunter are you both still intending to be psionic tiefling brothers? How about you Neo - how did you come to be in this merry little family?

I havent put much thought into the story yet, but I knew that we'd need to have a communal story at least. Always thought it was a little wonky when characters that should've known each other for a few months act like they just met.

No Goblins Allowed? I've heard that somewhere before...

Do we have anyone trying to fill a role or personality that lends itself to being a leader? My character is much more of a support character, and probably less prone to be the first to head into things. I just get the feeling that the more natural leader of the group would have found and collected us into a group.

You can get two free formulae for common, level 1 alchemical items, i.e., Antivenom, Alchemist's Fire, Holy Water, Violet Phosphor, Alchemist's Essence, Foaming Plaster, and Sweet Water. You can check the compendium HERE if you need to check the rarity.

I made a decision on components and that will appear in the next post.

Components for rituals and alchemical items must be obtained beforehand, rather than simply subtracting component costs from your purse. But those who have mastered certain rituals and formulae can use universal components and other substitutions for a variety of related rituals. Functionally, rituals with the same Key Skill and Category use interchangeable components, as do alchemical items with the same Category.

Note that incense sticks are used for all Exploration rituals, meaning all Exploration ritual components are interchangeable. Also, no components are listed for Other-category alchemical items, meaning they never have interchangeable components.

Awesome, thanks. I took Alchemist's Fire and Antivenom. Also purchased Tanglefoot Bag.

Next question: How do squares work if they are.... say, eight squares in one direction, but six squares higher then you? Does it still fit within the 10 square limit?

I don't have permission to change the document, but I'd like to take the room on the 4th Floor closest to the courtyard. If you could edit in for me a bed at K-12, a chest at M-12 and another chest at M-13, a lantern hanging at L-12, and a spare lantern at L-14, that would essentially sum up my possessions in the game.
