Keeping with the theme, I took as a challenge to make a playable resurrection deck...and I think that with this pool at last is feasible a BUG reanimator

NON-RAID ERROR

2 x Bone splinters

1 x Jace, Vryn's Prodigy
2 x Call the Bloodline
2 x Sylvan Advocate
3 x Sylvan Ranger
2 x Lambholt pacifist
2 x Deathcap cultivator

2 x Oath of Jace
1 x Liliana, Heretical Healer
3 x Pieces of the Puzzle

1 x Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet
1 x Oblivion strike
2 x Languish

1 x The Gitrog Monster
3 x Necromantic Summons
1 x Ob Nixilis Reignited

1 x Greenwarden of Murasa
1 x Ever After

2 x Gaea's Revenge
1 x Alhammarret, High Arbiter
1 x Ulamog, the ceaseless hunger
1 x Kozilek, the great distortion

3 x Island
4 x Forest
5 x Swamp

2 x Hissing Quagmire
2 x Hinterland Harbor
2 x Drowned Catacomb
2 x Woodland Cemetery
4 x Evolving Wilds

The plan is using PotP to discard your fatties and to find your Summons. Surprising, isn't it?

The mana/gate dorks help to make your landfalls till 5, or manage that 1 or 2 turns earlier than usual... and double as removal bait/chumpblocker/enabler for Kalitas.

All the creatures can be hard-casted, except Kozy.

Languish is required, even if it looks bad for your elves...don't worry, you'll only need them at the early game, usually

Edited: now that white weenies and agro are back, I had to change all the early plays, now the higher creature count helps me to reach t5-6 consistently and fix my mana, badly needed...I'd really want the 4th Pieces, but it would be in exchange of the Strike, and I find it usually really useful

These lists need more Graveblade Marauder and Seed Guardian imo.

Marauder and Guardian needs full agro decks to be at their peak... t3 I really want to cast Puzzle/Oath or Lily...something that push my game forward, better than a weak creature...and t4 I want to stabilize the board or keep searching till my crucial t5 (or resurrect a fatty already if Cultivator allows it...)

Plan is: t1 manafix t2 manafix/aceleration/big blocker t3 puzzle/oath t4 languish/kalitas/more search t5 NS/Ob/gitrog t6 same as t5 or Even After/Murasa for summons or languish

I don't see Marauder nor SG doing anything to contribute to that :)

I don't see Kozilek being a worthy resurrection target.

Unlike Ulamog, he doesn't win the game on the spot on a couple attacks. Most of Kozi's value comes from his "refill your hand" effect, which doesn't trigger.

Ula is best Korea, but Kozilek is a huge beast with menace (eats blockers...) that sometimes can counter your opponent next play...and if he gets killed, more food for Even After

Ey, give me Atarka and I'll ditch him in a beat...but right now, just Linvala can compete for that spot...feel free to make the change, why not?...but crusher, Omy, Koto, drowner...all the remaining options feel inferior to me

Nobody besides me tried to make a BUG Reanimator? I find that surprising, I really think is the best shard to try...but I'm seeing a lot of versions in other color combinations...

Edit: I saw Kryder as one in his Box...nice

From my experience, the best resurrection targets are:

Amazing
Greenwarden of Murasa

...because he's free (i.e., gets back the reanimation spell)

Great
Plated Crusher
Breaker of Armies

Plated Crusher is the most reliable creature in the game. It always works. It's hexproof, trample, out of languish range. Whatever you want, it does. Breaker of Armies is the best creature against decks with a lot of creatures, but no reliable removal spells - think Elves and Aristocrats. You get to wrath their board - possibly multiple times - and they never come back. He's not always the right creature, but when he is, he's the best.

Good
Linvala, the Preserver
Sire of Stagnation
Kozilek, the Great Distortion
Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger

Linvala is the best possible target against aggro, Sire is the best possible target against Ramp. Kozilek and Ulamog are generically good - usually either Plated Crusher or Breaker of Armies would be better for the specific scenario, but they're always second best. Ulamog's gotten a lot worse with all the exiling and tapping and bouncing going around. Bonus points to Sire for being naturally castable on curve.

Acceptable
Alhammarret, High Arbiter
Gaea's Revenge
Omnath, Locus of Rage

Each of these is good for a specific situation that rarely comes up. Alhammarret is good against a WBx control deck that somehow only has one removal spell in hand. Gaea's Revenge is good against mono-U mill. Omnath is good against people with no removal spells. But for almost all of these cases, Plated Crusher would do nearly as good a job, while not being terrible the rest of the time.

Anything Else
Emeria Shepherd

Good in a white version, but not for Sultai.

For those interested, a link to some of my better decks.

If I ever built an Esper Control deck, it would still somehow contain 2x Sylvan Advocate, 2x Tireless Tracker, 1x Nissa, Vastwood Seer, 1x Reclamation Sage, 1x Nissa, Vital Force, and 1x Woodland Bellower.

I love PotP into necromantic summons. Looks like a fun archetype.

Got a chance to try the TurboFog above, my decklist is very close:

3 x Vessel of Nascency
4 x Fog

1 x Jace, Vryn's Prodigy
4 x Alchemist's Vial
4 x Take Inventory

1 x Nissa, Vastwood Seer
3 x Sphinx's Tutelage
2 x Hydrolash
2 x Imprisoned in the Moon

2 x Languish
2 x Biting Rain

1 x Ishkanah, Grafwidow
1 x Jace, Unraveler of Secrets
1 x Ob Nixilis Reignited
1 x Greenwarden of Murasa

3 x Scour the Laboratory

6 x Island
4 x Swamp
4 x Forest
1 x Sunken Hollow
2 x Woodland Cemetery
2 x Drowned Catacomb
2 x Hinterland Harbor
4 x Evolving Wilds

I do like the Vessel, but I swapped out the Oaths for Hydrolash and stuck in Biting Rain. I don't have Pilgrim's Eyes so went with Evolving Wilds instead. So far has been working out well, but I can't compare it to the Izzet version as I don't have the cards to make that one tick.

Match-ups I've breezed through some random jank decks including a few 80 card decks without problems, and of course handles AI well. Biggest issues is fast aggro, usually red with burn, which I guess is most control's problem.

Best aggro matchup was with Mono-W that got a very fast start. Renown Freeblade, Thalia's Lieutenant, Baby Gideon and a couple other creatures pounded me down to 2 life after a Hydrolash, then 3 Fogs later and I was able to mill him out with 2 Tutelage's out on the board. I drew Languish too late as he had already stuck Angelic Destiny to one of the random guys.

I haven't had a decent control matchup with Esper or 4-color walkers yet, but I could imagine midrange may be a problem. With the AI whenever they stick a Liliana's Elite to the board it has me worried as I start milling it gets out of Languish range almost right away, but I haven't had it a problem with players. Still makes me think the deck could use a couple Murders, though the Vial does come in handy for 1 big pumped creature.

Anyone ever try an elf deck with blue spells that exile and return to the battlefield? I was messing around with it last night and it's interesting. So many of the elf deck cards have 'enters the battlefield' also you can block something bigger and bounce your elf back without losing it and trigger other elves.

I think I checked my hypergeometric calc a long time ago, on this issue, and I have this to say about your deck:

You got a free mull in Duels, with 3 tutelage in deck, you are already in the top end 60's to have a tutelage on t3. Including t3 + deep card selection (vessel, tutro) squarely fits into diminishing returns territory. 8 Fogs are great, but if you wanna find your tutelage fast, Red does it way better than black (cathartic reunion).
I'm not sure how the meta will evolve and wether 3x rec sage or fragmentize will be a thing now (I suspect they might, even limited testing with CGB's 4 color non tuned Walker deck vs Kaladesh decks showed rec sage being very good indeed), but if I would build all in tutelage I'd be looking at Temur.

Hello, first time posting. I modded GodOfAtheism's Saheeli's Artistry deck from pg. 16 of the Temur thread and took ideas from Altashheth to make

Sultai Artistry Ramp

1 x Jace, Vryn's Prodigy
2 x Grasp of Darkness
1 x Nissa, Vastwood Seer
1 x Tireless Tracker
2 x Reclamation Sage
1 x Pilgrim's Eye
3 x Filigree Familiar
2 x Cultivator's Caravan
2 x Imprisoned in the Moon
2 x Pulse of Murasa
1 x Altered Ego
1 x Languish
2 x Explosive Vegetation
1 x Verdurous Gearhulk
1 x Ishkanah, Grafwidow
1 x The Gitrog Monster
1 x Torrential Gearhulk
1 x Noxious Gearhulk
1 x Greenwarden of Murasa
1 x Woodland Bellower
1 x Sire of Stagnation
2 x Scour the Laboratory
2 x Saheeli's Artistry
2 x Nissa's Renewal

25 Lands

3 x Island
4 x Swamp
4 x Forest
2 x Lumbering Falls
2 x Hissing Quagmire
2 x Sunken Hollow
1 x Woodland Cemetery
1 x Drowned Catacomb
1 x Hinterland Harbor
1 x Inventor's Fair
4 x Evolving Wilds

Thoughts
  • Pretty fun, very value. Fairly slow to roll out and mulligans poorly.
  • Decent lifegain against aggro, fairly inconsistent artifact hate for Vehicles, plenty of answers for midrange. Control looks bad, but I haven't played it yet.
  • I'm missing most of AER, so there could be improvements.
  • The deck either goes off or stalls dead at four mana. The curve could be tweaked. Options range from Grapple with the Past towards Delirium or Natural Connection as a ramping three-drop. Kiora, Master of the Depths might be the key.
  • There are a lot of one-ofs, Tireless Tracker and Languish most prominently. The deck goes through its basics fairly quickly, so I cut one each of the check duals.
  • Perhaps there aren't enough Woodland Bellower targets to justify its inclusion. Another Reclamation Sage runs the risk of being dead against the wrong matchup.
  • Delirium is hit-and-miss. More artifact creatures or 'walkers could be added; Ishkanah and Scour could go.
  • Scour's occasionally dead in hand, but Gearhulking it back is great. The likes of Catalog or Artificer's Epiphany could take its place.
  • Bad matchup against ramp (Sire isn't reliable); nothing to deal with Plated Crusher or Gaea's Revenge apart from bodies and the only Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger countermeasure is sending it to the Moon, as copying it is probably too slow. A Battle at the Bridge or Oblivion Strike could be slotted in. Altashheth suggested Displacement Waves.
  • I'm not sure about 'walkers here. Further testing's needed.

Sultai Dredge.

Been playing this for several days now, it's not reanimator, it's a midrange dredge deck that aims to get a ton of value our of the gy.
1 vessel
2 dread wanderer
2 scrapheap Scrounger
2 smugglers copter
1 jace, vryns prodigy
2 prized amalgam
1 reclamation sage
1 mindwrack demon
1 ishkanah, grafwidow
1 glyph keeper
1 gitrog monster
2 haunted dead
2 honored hydra
1 rhonas, green god

4 grapple with the past
3 fatal push
2 never // return
1 grasp of darkness
2 languish
1 rags // riches

1 lili the last hope
1 lili, death's majesty

1 quagmire, 4 wilds all g/b duals
25 land

umm...I had a thread up on reddit before I played a ton with it and changed a lot. Originally had labrynth guardian, tireless tracker (still want him) and less sweepers.
This version is really good.

Couple questions, do you guys think vessel is better for dredge than grapple, and should I try to fit pieces of the puzzle in to find my sweepers. Maybe a balance? The bombs work really well in this shell. but cards like big nissa, guardian of murasa, or green gearhulk all wanna be in here. Glyph Keeper is beyond good. Want the second copy. Hydra has been awesome.

edit: seems I have killed multiple threads. What did I do...
