1) Click 'User Control Panel' in the top right. On that page click 'Profile' on the list on the left, then click 'Edit Avatar'. Max image size is 120x120.

2) Two buttons left of 'User Control Panel' is the 'Search' button. Click that. You can search for terms, by author and filter your searches by forum.

You can also search specific topics by clicking the link at the top of the thread (on the right side, the same line that shows "subscribe" and "bookmark"), but for some reason only when you're logged in. I've never gotten an answer as to why.
