You wont have mana issues if like 30% of your spells are just grabbing lands for you, especially with Gatecreeper handing you your turn 3 land drop.

The deck I'm using in the ios tournament which went undefeated in the bo3 games.

Timothy's Favourite Deck

4 x Gatecreeper Vine
3 x Rolling Thunder
1 x Nissa, Vastwood Seer
2 x Radiant Flames
4 x Nissa's Pilgrimage
3 x Zendikar Incarnate
2 x From Beyond
4 x Mwonvuli Acid-Moss
2 x Outland Colossus
2 x Chandra's Ignition
1 x Greenwarden of Murasa
2 x Oran-Rief Hydra
1 x Oblivion Sower
2 x Nissa's Renewal
2 x Plated Crusher
1 x Omnath, Locus of Rage
1 x Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger

6 x Mountain
12 x Forest
2 x Cinder Glade
2 x Rootbound Crag
1 x Canopy Vista

Sideboard:
3 x Jaddi Offshoot
4 x Fiery Impulse
2 x Twin Bolt
2 x Reclamation Sage
1 x Woodland Bellower
2 x Gaea's Revenge
1 x Plated Crusher

Non-standard card choices:
Zendikar Incarnate - early threat, and allows a t5 sweep with Chandra's Ignition which is really useful vs thopters, Gideon, Ally of Zendikar and weenies. It's useful even in late game as you can drop it with 9 mana and cast Chandra's Ignition for 9 damage to the face and board wipe.
Chandra's Ignition - one of my favourite cards in the game. Great wipe, great reach. You have to watch out for the bounce or instant removal though.
Plated Crusher - I prefer playing Crusher over Gaea's Revenge as it has trample and doesn't care about those pesky thopters and can be targeted with Chandra's Ignition
Oran-Rief Hydra - great cards with Ignition, great card late game, terrible vs removal and bounce

Cards I didn't pick which are usually standard:
Fiery Impulse and Twin Bolt - they are nice early in the game, but it really sucks drawing them late in the game when you need threats. That's as my early game counters I use Radiant Flames, Chandra's Ignition (4 sweepers), Rolling Thunder and Jaddi Offshoot.
Gaea's Revenge - nonbo with Ignition and can be chump blocked for ages.

Sideboard picks:
Jaddi Offshoot, Fiery Impulse, Twin Bolt - vs aggro decks
Reclamation Sage, Woodland Bellower - vs enchantment decks
Gaea's Revenge, Plated Crusher - vs control heavy decks with counters, bounce or removal

Changes I'd probably make after playing the tournament or if there weren't sideboards:
Jaddi Offshoot has proven to be an MVP vs aggro decks, if it comes down on turn 1 it's pretty much gg, I'd definitely add it to the mainboard. I'd probably replace the 3x Zendikar Incarnate or 2x Oran-Rief Hydra and 1x Zendikar Incarnate. This way the deck gets more versatile, but looses some oomph. I really like the hydra, but if you encounter bounce or removal she loses a lot of value.

If you guys have any questions, I'll try to answer :-)

I think this deck is a strict improvement over CGB's version.

On your sideboard, why no Aligned Hedron Network, Fiery Conclusion, Evolutionary Leap, and Boiling Earth?

I also agree that Jaddi Offshoot should be a staple in the maindeck.

Been playing Timothy's Favourite Deck for a couple of days and its been doing great. Weak to early aggro and flyers specially Skyhunter Skirmisher. This guy plus auras becomes a pain if toughness goes 3+. Tokens and small creatures are more vulnerable to Radiant Flames. Against early aggro you must rely on Rolling Thunder, Radiant Flames or Chandra's Ignition to come up or it's gg on turn 5-6.

Greenwarden of Murasa unfortunately is still bugged on pc but it's worth for the first graveyard draw imho.

Late game Rolling Thunder is a blast, Chandra's Ignition with Zendikar Incarnate or Oran-Rief Hydra is an atomic bomb.

I think I won 100% of matches were I put From Beyond on the board. The Scions double as mana and chump. Overall 85% win for this deck. Could be more if I were a better player.

Jaddi Offshoot may have its advantages but it won't block a flyer or a renowned Goblin Glory Chaser. I'd keep it out but maybe I'll put 2 in and drop Nissa and one Zendikar Incarnate. I found it difficult to go around many creatures mid-late game if the red spells don't show up, so maybe 2x Rogue's Passage could be handy.

No land problems for me if starting hand guarantees at least 3 lands.

My stab at an elemental deck:

It's Elemental

Creatures
4x Gatecreeper Vine
3x Elvish Visionary
1x Nissa, Vastwood Seer
2x Woodland Wanderer
3x Grove Rumbler
3x Zendikar Incarnate
1x Greenwarden of Murasa
2x Gaea's Revenge
1x Omnath, Locus of Rage

Sorcery
3x Rolling Thunder
2x Radiant Flames
4x Nissa's Pilgrimage
2x Chandra's Ignition

Enchantment
2x Evolutionary Leap
1x Flameshadow Conjuring
2x From Beyond

Land
7x Mountain
7x Forest
2x Cinder Glade
2x Rootbound Crag
2x Mortuary Mire
4x Evolving Wilds

I wanted a deck that revolved around Omnath, Locus of Rage because his ability is wicked. Some problems, though:
  1. Needs more elementals beyond his landfall tokens
  2. There's only 1 copy allowed
  3. Costly to cast
  4. Susceptible to removal

Solutions!
  1. Any creature in deck has to be an elemental unless it's solving the other problems below
  2. Elvish Visionary, Nissa, Vastwood Seer and Evolutionary Leap help get him out of your library
  3. Gatecreeper Vine, Nissa's Pilgrimage and Evolving Wilds are standard fare for getting your lands out
  4. Greenwarden of Murasa (bonus, he's Elemental!) and Mortuary Mire bring him back from your graveyard while Evolutionary Leap prevents him from being exiled once on the board.

I've been very happy with this deck. It has enough of everything to not rely on Omnath, Locus of Rage as a win condition. Flameshadow Conjuring is nasty with the elementals in the deck, not to mention extra land or card draws via Gatecreeper Vine and Elvish Visionary. From Beyond provides chump blocking, mana and best of all, a way to dig through your library for Omnath, Locus of Rage if Evolutionary Leap is out. The other elementals draw out counters from your control opponents only to be retrieved back from graveyard. Chandra's Ignition is GG if you have Omnath, Locus of Rage and a few other elementals out.

Weaknesses are against red or white weenie decks unless you have Radiant Flames in hand. Also, if you don't have an initial draw containing a good mix of 2-3 land paired with some Gatecreeper Vine and/or Nissa's Pilgrimage, I'd strongly consider a mulligan. This deck demands land with the twenty 4+ CMC cards.

Starting at rank 32, I went 13-5 with it, bringing me to the finish at 40.

As always, suggestions on any improvements are welcome.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

Actually for public games I go +3 Offshoot -2 Hydra -1 Incarnate, I gimp my late game a bit but it's still extremely strong and usually stronger than the other gruul decks which run fiery impulses and twin bolts.

Offshoot gives so much life with the ramp that I usually can outrun the aggro decks.

Gem: I didn't expect any rdw with sideboards as in it's current state it wouldn't stand a chanće in games 2 and 3, so I picked the eraly removal just in case. Bellower and sages in caśe I meet some enchantment decks with Emeria and From Beyond etc.

Aligned Hedron Network would usually hit me more than my opponent, so I never even considered it. I like the evoleap idea which blue also had, but tbh I wouldn't know what to cut. With the offshoots my threat level goes down by 3 creatures already and I'd probably have to cut 2 more. Might be a good idea but I'm not sold on it

Boiling earth - already have 4 sweepers, prefer more power. Fiery Conclusion - too few creatures unless I have From Beyond and still 5 dmg isn't always a solution.

@Xarlor, Zendikar's Roil creates Elemental tokens.

I completely forgot they were elemental! Thanks for reminding me, @Hakeem928!

OUT: 1x Flameshadow Conjuring
IN: 1x Zendikar's Roil

Went 4-0 tonight (three L40s and one L39), although Zendikar's Roil only showed up once.

In Elemental decks I usually try to squeeze in one Fiery Conclusion for its synergy with Omnath.

Finally hit 40 for the first time :king: with Timothy's Favourite Deck.

Final deck had 2x Rogue's Passage, 3x Reclamation Sage, -2 Oran-Rief Hydra, -1 Zendikar Incarnate, -2 Forest.

Lost most matches to aggro decks even while testing with Jaddi Offshoot. It makes total sense to play this card but I guess it was just bad luck.

Time to play another deck. :) Tks for sharing @Auunj

Well here's a situation I run into a lot. Either 1 land off the start or 2 lands with no creeper. I just lost 3 games because of situations like this. I guess it can't be helped. I mean, I still win 80% of my games and always hover at 40, but it's frustrating to have mana problems in a ramp deck lol.

And many times I get the perfect ramp hand, but it takes forever to draw threats. And I have 9 threats in my deck. I have nothing mid range except for Outland Collosus. That's my only 5 drop.

But I can handle getting flooded or even too much ramp as long as I can draw a few of my sweepers. But it's just the beginning I'm worried about.

This is a situation I run into a lot. Starting hand has two lands and no Pilgramage or Vine and maybe Moss and a few threats. The threats are all 6 drops or higher, so if I miss any drops I'm screwed. And I have to draw two lands to play moss. That kind of hand gets obliterated in mirror match ups, aggro or any other type of ramp deck if miss any drops. And if someone else is running moss then that hand gets destroyed if they play theirs first. I guess that issue will resolve itself soon enough.

So that is an obvious mulligan hand. And it always seems when I mulligan in those situations it comes out worse.

Maybe that's the conversation I need to hear. When should I mulligan? Is the above example ok to keep after the 1st or 2nd mulligan? What combinations of cards do I need, at a minimum, to not mulligan?

Some examples of hands I keep, that aren't no-brainers: 2 lands + Nissa's Pilgrimage, 3 lands + a 4-drop, 2 lands + Evolutionary Leap + Gatecreeper, 4+ lands + 1-2 Jaddi Offshoot

I usually try not to go below 5 cards, but am willing to gamble when on the draw, as Gruul ramp has pulled me out of some very tight spots. MVPs in such situations were Nissa's Revelation, Ulamog, Rolling Thunder and Jaddi Offshoot.

I don't run Evo in my Gruul deck. But I will still keep a hand with 2 lands and creeper or 2 and Pilgramage. 4 lands plus Jaddi and no ramp I would normally mulligan, but I can see why you would keep it.

What about when you have 5 land or more in your hand? Is that an auto mulligan? I run into that sometimes too and then when I mulligan, I'll come out with one land haha. And it seems whenever I keep a hand with 4 mana, I get flooded. Always seems to happen. I don't know how many times I'm sitting there with 40 cards in my deck, 12+ lands on the board and all I can draw is land or mana fixers. You would think statistically you would draw something else. But with no way to draw cards, I guess you're gonna run into that problem.

Been there. That's the game. No matter how well built a deck is, luck is still part of Magic. >>shrug<<

There are 5-Landers worth keeping, like Colossus + Pilgrimage.

Just posting this here for the Deck List, because I'm too lazy to find an original build... etc...

Gruul Ramp

Creatures (16)
4 x Gatecreeper Vine
1 x Nissa, Vastwood Seer
2 x Reclamation Sage
2 x Outland Colossus
1 x Greenwarden of Murasa
1 x Oblivion Sower
1 x Woodland Bellower
1 x Omnath, Locus of Rage
2 x Gaea's Revenge
1 x Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger

Spells (21)
4 x Fiery Impulse
3 x Rolling Thunder
2 x Radiant Flames
4 x Nissa's Pilgrimage
2 x From Beyond
4 x Mwonvuli Acid-Moss
2 x Nissa's Renewal

Lands (23)
1 x Canopy Vista
2 x Cinder Glade
2 x Rootbound Crag
6 x Mountain
12 x Forest

I take no credit for this list, it's CGBs Gruul list from the tournament with a single card changed. This is an absolutely dominant deck.

This is my exact deck, except I run 2 less fiery impulse and 1 less creeper for 3 offshoots. Jaddi would be in my SB if we had one...

I do think Gruul will get a bump with the next release. With Moss gone and its replacement ramping for 2 land, you will be able to play those 7 drops on t5 more consistently. I haven't even really looked at the new cards, but it can't get worse.

Also, not getting Mossed will help this deck as well.

Anyone want to do me a solid and copy pasta Covert's Gruul Werewolfy deck here? I can't access his deckbuilding site anymore and I'd love to see it (to discuss). You can't discuss his deck on that site anyway so it's not like we're hijacking the conversation or anything.

Just grab it from here, I'm sure he doesn't mind. You can blame me anyway:
