The land format still led to interesting decks with lotus available (although you could mill so a lot of the decks were turn 2 combo wins), I won the round with Black Lotus, Meddling Mage, Admonition Angel. With Wastes you could just swap Mage for Mesmeric Fiend and have a reasonably powerful deck that cares about the format.

I'm a fan of smaller formats. I'd like to see more of those get suggested. 5-Card Standard, 4-Card Block Party, 5-Card Zendikar Blocks. Stuff like that.

i would think that thought-knot seer would be the choice over mesmeric fiend now

i am with this plan

i'm having a similar issue with the memento round, anything i can think of that is potentially interesting is superseded by already-known strategies

This is what I'm seeing. All the decks I can think of that make use of the 'Momento' ... are still second-tier decks. I'm still not entirely understanding why people crapped all over the Spirit Guides round suggestion and pushed for this, because I see actually viable format-rule-related decks in Spirit Guides while I've found none here. There are a few decks this rule hoses (no-look discard like Liliana and Funeral Charm are neutered by the gravebouncing Momento), but I expect the winner of this round will be a deck that makes little to no use of the Momento and would be a strong deck in any Vanilla-by-alt-banlist round.

Idea for post-SOI release:

Delirium: In addition to their 3 card deck, players pick 4 cards with different names that start the game in their graveyard.
Additional Bans: Suggestions welcome. (Personally I think cards that shuffle the graveyard into the library should be banned for this alternate format.)

you forgot to require four card types among those cards (otherwise there is no delirium involved)

That narrows the format too much. I figured leaving it open for people to use Haakon, Stromgald Scourge or other graveyard shenanigans would be more fun. Less fun if those shenanigans involve just shuffling everything in, though. Definitely not fun if they put four Bloodghasts in their graveyard (and hence the four cards with different names restriction).

It's an interesting idea...how many version of Nether Shadow are there? The new favored Amalgamation is another I think...

Nether Spirit, Bloodghast...those are really the only other free returns I can think of.

Could be a good format...despite putting 7 flying power on the board across three returnable bodies turn 1 only using one card out of your deck, at least one Delirium card balances that. I think it should probably be tweaked to prevent the yard from being: Spirit, Ghast, Amalgam, Wonder though and encourage Delirium or other graveyard fun.

Difficult to get people to play 4CM and you wanna play 7CM? Dream big. :)

Threshold
Choose a card. You begin the game with seven of that card in your graveyard.

Metalcraft
You begin the game with three Darksteel Relics on the battlefield.

Pseudoland
All pseudo-keywords (threshold, metalcraft, etc.) are always turned on.

I like Psuedoland a lot.

Threshold is just put seven Nether Spirits into play turn one, which is worse than the suggest Delerium mode.

Metalcraft is pretty neat, but I think Psuedoland does a great job of accomplishing what many of us are going for with Delerium, Threshold, Metalcraft, and Empty Promises.

Spirit only returns if there are no other creature cards in your graveyard, so Wonder wouldn't be an issue with it. But I do see your point...Even 6 flying, 1 of which gets to attack, on T1 is a bit intimidating...I'm sure Isochron Scepter + Path to Exile would be run as a counter, though that does raise the question of "What's its wincon?" (Most likely a Ghast and Amalgam of their own.) I really don't want the format to be forced to have four or more different card types in the graveyard at the start, but if that's the only way to avoid Uber Manaless Reanimator being the most powerful deck...

Well, I never win any rounds anyways, so I'm really just throwing ideas out there. :P

Those are called "ability words."

Even one card pre-seeded into the graveyard is busted (T1 Swamp Reanimate means virtually any creature for one mana and some life). Four would be bonkers. Seems like a likely 3-3 format as there would be a lot of T1 locks.
