After reconsideration, certain posts have been restored to this thread.

The initial thread review and deletion was performed by me, hastily and without sufficient consideration and notification - for that, I apologize.

In the future, please discuss the topic in a respectful manner, and refrain from flaming other users.

My emotion chip must have gone haywire yesterday. I'm still working on that whole Acting Human thing.

I wish I could find more people who listen to depressive black metal. The amount of feels I get from DBM... holy **** it blows all other music out of the water.

That I don't get. They're not lyrically poetic, so what do you get out of people who can't play their instruments or sing? I'm honestly curious.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, that may come off as mildly abrasive, but how else do you describe that kind of rhythmless cacophony of shrieks and distortion?

Its not ownage. For one thing, its not rhythmless, and secondly, depressive BM is actually quite melodic under the distortion. Its simply a shame that the atmosphere is lost on some people.

So I want to know why you consider those merits.

Tell that to the drummers. And the guitarists.

And I'm a very good singer once you get past the fact that I can't sing.

For music there is no list of rules to prove that something is objectively bad. While you can say that things are recording with poor techniques and that the composition of the music is amateur, in the end, it's about whether or not it sounds good. It does not matter if I am not a virtuoso at playing my instrument if I can make something sound good. It doesn't matter if I have to use a ton of effects and post-production techniques to alter the sounds as long as it sounds good. Distortion messes up the clarity of the audio signal but we put it on everything because it sounds good. Attempting to use the rational to explain the irrational isn't going to work. Yes, there is a level you need to get to to make quality music, but once you understand that, then it comes to personal preference to whether or not it is good. You have to learn how to paint to paint but once you do that then the world is open to you.

I disagree. Music can be objectively bad. That said, you'll notice I intentionally avoided the use of words like "bad."

...And why do you say it's irrational? My taste in music, at least, is perfectly rational.
