Reposting what has been said at a hive of scum and villainy the name of which will remain unuttered here:

Quote:
The block after Innistrad 2 will be about a new plane called Sivagat. It's a desert world and will heavily reference Egyptian mythology. It will feature gods and the story will be a relatively small-scale mystery plot that's gonna be completely separate from any other story line going on at the moment. The reason for this separation is that WotC is worried that the block will mirror Kamigawa in certain regards due to the exotic setting and almost niche mythology that's not as popular as Greek mythology.
The first set of the block will be called Secrets of Sivagat and the second set will be called Fury of the Sand.
The block after that will be another Return to Ravnica. I have no information about that story and only know the name of the first set. War of the Guilds.

100% unconfirmed. I am not the insider/leaker nor have any information on him/her. But I'm transcribing this here in case it does come true. For posterity.

My personal opinion is that if we do Ravnica AGAIN so soon I will strangle the nearest living thing with its own entrails. Except I won't actually do that, because that would be awful, but I'll be pissed and probably take a half-year break from Magic. Unless they have Rav eaten by Emrakul, The guilds get decisively crushed, or pillage the Guildwars Forum Voting Games for their plot (which would also crush guilds and I could feel responsible). Then maybe I'd buy in.

So was the source of this post known to be reliable about future information already, or is this just some ramblings of a random forumite who could be spouting off about anything that crosses its mind?
(EDIT: I mean, I assume there's discussion about this where you found it....)

Source is anonymous. I post it here more as a curiosity than anything else really.
It's weirdly specific, but not worth its own thread.

Ravnica again would be cool, but yeah I have no reason to treat this as credible. I'm particularly suspicious about getting another block with gods.

This is highly likely as the local shop owners were talking with each other over the phone while I was the only one in the shop.* They mentioned preorders for the next duel deck, which from what I could gather, had something to do with angels.

I am so phenomenally sick of faction v faction decks.

*they aren't the brightest people.

Oh hell no. Let Rav rot for a decade. They screwed it up enough last time, I'd hate to see how further plow under the place again.

The announcement is probably going to be for this year's From the Vault or the new introductionary product to replace the Core Set (or ave we heard about that already and I missed it?). Next block or its Duel Decks is obviously not getting announced yet. Planeswalker vs Planeswalker is possible, I guess, but since MaRo mentioned there's an article coming about how they'll be handled, I'd expect that article first.

As for the claimed block sets, the main reasons to be sceptical both tie to the "third Ravnic" block. For one, it would mean more returns than new planes in a four-block period. Secondly, Brand very much likes for blocks to have the name of the plane in their names. (Also, I'm rather sceptical that Wizards would settle for " relatively small-scale mystery plot" or one "that's gonna be completely separate from any other story line going on at the moment" which sounds like it means the Gatewatch story, in the second block after the Gatewatch is introduced, when the Gatewatch is supposed to be the main connecting point of the Magic story).

DFC rules changes confirmed in the mechanics article.

Quote:
1. Converted mana cost

Remember when I said that the characteristics of the face that's up are all that matter? That wasn't quite accurate. Under the new rules, the converted mana cost of the back face of a DFC is based on the mana cost of the front face. (Previously, because the back faces lacked mana costs, their converted mana costs were all 0.) The one exception is if something is a copy of the back face of a DFC, its converted mana cost is 0. So If I control Insidious Mist, it has no mana cost, but its converted mana cost is 4. If I then put a copy of Insidious Mist onto the battlefield, that copy's converted mana cost is 0.

2. Entering the battlefield transformed

A few effects can put a card onto the battlefield transformed. This means to put it on the battlefield with its back face up. Starting with this set, we have a new rule that if you're told to put a card that isn't a DFC onto the battlefield transformed, it just stays where it is. This may affect a few cards in this set, but I think the Magic Origins planeswalkers illustrate the change nicely. (This is code for "The cool cards in this set I could use to illustrate this haven't been previewed yet." I know. I feel the same way.) Say you control a Clone that's copying Jace, Vryn's Prodigy, and you activate faux-Jace's ability with four thousand cards in your graveyard. Well, four thousand is "five or more," so faux-Jace dutifully exiles himself. Then he tries to return transformed, but in exile he's just a single-faced Clone. He's not a DFC, so he gets detained at the border and remains in exile. I hope the card you drew was good, because this wasn't a great play otherwise.

3. No flippy-floppy

I've saved our most technical change for last. Here's the new rule: if a DFC has an activated or triggered ability that transforms it, that permanent transforms only if it hasn't since that ability was put on the stack. What does that mean? For example, say you activate Elusive Tormentor's ability, then you activate it again in response. Why? Because you want to discard a lot of cards. Why? We're almost there. Relax. The first ability to resolve will cause Elusive Tormentor to transform, as expected. But the second ability won't, as Elusive Tormentor has already transformed because of the first ability.

So Avacyn will not be transforming multiple times.

some additional speculation on the walkers of SoI block.

Nahiri: possibly more wanting her to get a standard printing than evidence but ehh. Innistrad is known for its use of makeshift weaponry, which would work well with Nahiri's mechanical focus on equipment. She's also confirmed to have visited the plane in the card Declaration in Stone.

Jace: I've been unsure if the printed walker would be Tamiyo or Jace for SoI, until I saw the packaging. Jace is plastered all over this set and a focus of the pre-release. It's also worth noting that Tamiyo seems to be off of Innistrad during the events of the block, as the flavor text seems to be referring to her as if she's dead or missing.

Sorin: Possibly a return to mono black, this is my weakest guess and mostly derived from the ending of Oath's story and the fact that it's Innistrad. I personally don't want another Sorin, especially a WB one, because then Abzan tokens becomes 100% legit.

Tibalt: This one seems obvious to me, Avacyn's been shown now to have not become evil, but to have gone mad. She's in a blood frenzy and killing indiscriminately. Her flip card having her become red and inflicting damage to everything is incredibly Tibalt themed. Tibalt's specialty is pain and he does have a grudge against Sorin.

Arlinn: Because you don't introduce a new planeswalker to the story without a card.

With current evidence from the spoiled cards and what we know about the second set in the block:

Nahiri: Expect a card and expect it to most probably be red/white. Nahiri appears to be rampaging across Innistrad breaking things and erecting weird, sliver-like stone monuments with the purpose of twisting Innistrad's mana leylines towards some purpose. She has had the stated goal of inflicting on Innistead what happened to Zendikar and it is possible that she is warping the leylines to draw an eldrazi titan to the plane. We need more evidence before this last part can be confirmed.

Jace: Expect a card. Jace is the main key-art character of this block. He's here looking for Sorin at Ugin's behest.

Tamiyo: Do not expect a card. We have official art of a living Tamiyo standing next to a living Jace as they confront a living (vampire) Sorin who seems to be in the process of unmaking a very corrupted looking Avacyn. Expect her to be a background character who doesn't get a card because Jace will be the Blue walker of this set.

Sorin: Hope for a card. With two blocks a year, WotC is still trying to fit 10 walker cards a year like usual. That means either a 3/2 split or a 4/1 split between SOI and ENM. Expect Sorin to remain Black/White because we know Liliana will be a main character in ENM and she's the Black poster-girl for now. Doug has confirmed that Sorin will play a more major roll in this story than last time.

Liliana: As I said, she's the star of ENM and will most likely have a card. Some people are hinting that it will be a reprint of her most expensive card (Liliana of the Veil), but don't hold your breath. We don;t know why she's back in Innistrad but it probably has to do with finding Jace.

Arlinn: Newly introduced walkers tend to get cards. Expect her to be Red/Green, White/Green, or just Green with a multicolor flip-side.

Tibalt: There has been no hint of Tibalt so far. The increase in devil tokens can be attributed to humans moving out of red's design space leaving room for more devils than there was last time we were on Innistrad. It's quite possible he has left Innistrad and will not be seen this block.

The prerelease boxes are apparently in the image of Tamiyo's journal, though. I was sure she was dead because jace but with her making an appearance it would seem weird to bring her back only to not card her.

It's the "New Cool Thing(tm)" that Wizards is doing. In the Battle for Zendikar block we had Jace, Gideon, Nissa, Chandra, Ob, Kiora, and Ugin all make appearances but Jace and Ugin didn't get cards because they can only fit 5 plansewalker cards into a block and still have the correct amount they want yearly.

This time around we have Jace, Sorin, Nahiri, Tamiyo, Alrinn, Liliana, and whoever else peeks in before the block is over. Some characters are not going to get cards and Tamiyo won't because she and Jace are both blue and Jace is the main character.

The thing is, it would make about as much sense to not card Arlinn. Like, I'm cynically dubious myself that we're ever going to see another monoblue 'walker what with Jace sticking his nose into everything, but I think it's a possibility that's worth consideration: We could get Tammy, especially if she can coexist with Jace by one or the other going multicolor.

The problem is that between the new werewolf walker, Sorin, and Nahiri, we have too many multi-color possibilities. All I know for sure is that Jace will be hard blue and Liliana will be hard black. Arlinn could very easily just be mono-green with a multicolor flip. That gives us three mono-color walkers and open space to play in both white and red. Nahiri can be WR and fill that void. Sorin can stay WB and be fine there as he has been for a long time now.

I just don't see what color you splash Tamiyo with and make people happy about it. She can't go WU without clashing even harder with Narset. She's not really very green or red. Making her UB might make people angry.

The planeswalkers in SOI will almost certainly be Jace, Sorin, and Arlinn Kord, since they appear on the booster packaging.

Liliana is the posterwalker for EMN, so she'll probably get a card. Unless they go over the normal 5 planeswalker quota, that leaves one slot left for either Nahiri or Tamiyo.

I won't say it's impossible that they pick Tamiyo over Nahiri, but the way the story is going, I don't personally think it's likely.

This. Also, having Tamiyo in the story without a card at least acknowledges that she's alive and can be used in a future block. That's a lot more than Tibalt fans seem to be getting.

Tibalt is probably passed out in a gutter outside a Rakdos party house on Ravnica.

I'm actually very doubtful Liliana will get a card. Jace was a major player in bfz block and yet...
Meanwhile, I'm heavily expecting the next block to pick up on Liliana's story in her hunt for demons. That would put her center stage for a card then.

To be honest, I really hope Sorin doesn't get a new card. It would be interesting to see a walker reprint.
